  1. Latest "forced" update (popup seemed to present no option) is quite a slap in the face. Not a whisper about the downgrades (lost features, functions & control). Have never felt so betrayed by a trusted tool before. Thank God a reinstall of legacy version will buy some time to find an alternative - realistically, looking at the new interface suggests little interest in recovering prior functionality. I don't have time to "learn to love it" - abandoned on discovering the most up-front disasters, including: - lost ability to drag-n-drop attachments out of EN (e.g. to Outlook) - no option to default-display PDFs as attachments - no customizable menu bar, "All Notes" buried in side panel - shortcuts & searches redirect focus to target note, obscuring top-panel list display - automatic firstline=title behavior gone - no access to create/update dates/times - templates retain original create date, no facility to re-date daily log template - no auto-upload folders I had to contrive half a dozen workarounds within minutes of install - inefficient, irritating beyond belief. /Schooner
  2. Wow. Well, at least that confirms it. I've relied on EN for 12 years now, but this update is beyond the pale.
  3. Can't for the life of me find the switch, if it still exists. Bloated PDF images everywhere.
  4. Just installed (forced) EN-Win 10.8.5 No attachment drag-n-drop to emails? Major dysfunction, huge botch to my workflow & EN utility
  5. @DTLow (yes we're off-topic, but - interesting). Not bad, I use "pseudotags" in similar fashion EN & Wunderlist though I've abandoned any attempt at standardized titles (annoying when clipping to EN). The limitation is that only "note-worthy" staff activities are thus captured. Inescapably, the fundamental record in EN is the "note". My "Fantasy EN" would offer line-by-line tagged entries in a journal (daylog) note which could be isolated & rolled up into a project record by simply searching for the tag. One record might be a full note (O'Donnel's report of 2019.12.16), another might be little more than an incidental annotation ("called McCluskey, voxmail says on vacation till 2019.12.31"). /Schooner
  6. @bradsayers: daily shortcut updates arise from my "daylog" habit. I always wanted EN to function as what I call a Police Force Database... I want to know "what's the history/status of the Orient Express case" (here EN excels) but also "What was Sgt. O'Donnel doing at 1230 Hrs on 22 Nov 1963" (here EN frustrates). So daylog, poor-man's approximation. @Gazumped: Tried support, not much help. Described behavior exactingly, sent logs, they're - well, "gazumped". Uninstalled/reinstalled EN completely, same behavior. One of my apparently-identical machines has an additional EN glitch: hangs temporarily when switching between sync'd notebooks. Likewise not cured by reinstall. I'm at the point of suspecting an i/o issue on my SSD (yes both machines' SSDs are identically provisioned).
  7. 2 identical PCs - shortcuts not syncing in either direction. Notes syncing fine. "Sync shortcuts" selected on both PCs. (I alter shortcuts daily). Anyone else notice it? Both PCs using Win10 64 bit, EN-Win 6.21.2.8716 (308716) Public (CE Build ce-62.5.9981)
  8. I've noticed that encryption is more restrictive than prior - strictly text-only. No bullets, numbering, checkboxes tolerated. Old notes containing encrypted checkboxes are no longer functional though a static image of former status remains. Hutton's "grayed out" ENC option likely reflects impermissible content in selected "text".
  9. Precisely. Aeroflot's 1962 continuous improvement policy concisely captured. So long as there's no competition, you're bang on. One appreciates that fora of this nature naturally attract complaints, issues, expressions of dissatisfaction - of which respected longstanding contributors grow visibly weary from time to time. Our faith endures: that they equally appreciate one is less inclined to use this venue to express delight. That particular service we cheerfully and invaluably render daily through excited referrals to colleagues. /Schooner
  10. @GrumpyMonkey yeah, I use "Editor" as emblematic of one among my pet peeves, though the biggest is simply "imagine what this thing COULD do if only...". The issue IMO is that the CEO/board are fiduciaries of whom... VCs, not us customers. PL may cater to our interests only where they happily coincide with those of the shareholders; it is otherwise impermissible to subordinate their interests to ours. Client interests are further diluted by the questionable practice of free subscribers - an echo of the newspaper game, inflates the counts by removing the defection test for customer duration. I suppose it's a sign of being in my 50s, but I have to confess a growing apprehension that there's an another obstacle to perfection (EN among many): ill-conceived, poorly-implemented software features contrived by youngsters who haven't a clue how business/professions actually function. /Schooner
  11. I concluded a long time ago that with VC money aboard, what matters is subscriber base & new sign-up trends. EN-Peek or Skitch or that EN-recipe thing attracts a new class of user. A decent editor attracts no-one, merely quenches dissatisfaction. Satisfaction/dissatisfaction is equal in importance to a penguin farting at the South Pole so far as VCs are concerned. You guys are stuck on dissatisfactions (which I share). We don't exit, because we all see the staggering potential of EN (done right). And it will be - when the VCs have been bought out by [witholding my guess]. I agree with whomever pointed out that competition would make a difference. But - there is no competition with remotely comparable potential. /Schooner
  12. @jmcgeh of course "simply formatting" is simplest solution (right-clic within offending note, select "simplify formatting", presto). You'll pretty much reduce everything to text in so doing - but you'll lose the colors. If you want a fancier workaround eliminating background yet otherwise preserving formatting: Clip as usual Export to .mht Open in MSWord Select All Iff any WHITE text on background, invert to black Set background/shading=NONE Save Double click the modified MHT in Windows Explorer to open in default browser Clip page to Evernote (may need select-all & Win-A if clipper declares "not supported from this location". /Schooner
  13. Send yourself (evernote account) a blank email entitled (color name) with bg colour set to (colour) using MSOutlook. Piece of cake.
