I often use the shortcut Ctrl ; to create a date time stamp 2021-06-05 11:03 AM to log in an action such as a follow-up call in the text of the note. I also use it when I need to document the closure of a topic. For Windows version

I've been using Evernote daily since 2008. My preference is to sit on the sidelines and watch for positive user forum-comments for a month or more before installing the newest version. I have not tried the uninstall / install technique. I am up to 65,000 notes on 2 Evernote accounts. What are the advantages / safeguards of a uninstall old version / install new version?

I use 3 letter prefixes for my important frequently used tags. I wish I could help with the survey, but due to large number of user complaints I have avoided upgrading. I have been surprised at the reluctance from some of the long-time power users to upgrade. And your comment (Seems like the powers that be aren't reading any forums...) speaks volumes about my experience with Evernote. I trust comments from other users far more than anything an Evernote employee "claims".

We are well past 3 long months of waiting. How could something this important slip through the cracks?

Just over 12 years ago I bought a Fujitsu S300. I got a lot of use out of it when I moved from Minnesota to Maine. Scanning was my paperless dream come true. The $267 was a great investment. But last year, I contacted Fujisu for help. Their response: "The S300 is no longer being supported and there is no official windows 10 download link for that scanner but you can try the link below for ScanSnap Manager 5.5 as it may work with your scanner." http://origin.pfultd.com/downloads/IMAGE/driver/ss/mgr/w-s1500/WinS1500ManagerV55L10WW.exe Now that I am retired and generate far less paper every day, I decided to go with an app on my phone, so I can use it anywhere. I took the renewing 1-Month Premium membership ($4.99) from Google Play for CamScanner.. The app automatically determines the edges and captures my receipt, document, product description on box, serial number on device, etc. - converts it to PDF and automatically emails it to my Evernote account. High resolution, Painless and Fast.

I only use Evernote with my desktop. How do you open a note in its own window? I don't see any clues in the Evernote options.

I hope someone has an easier solution for this issue. The highlight does not show up on a printed note. My clunky workaround is: Add a tag called temporary to the note that I want to work on. Then run a new search for tag:temporary to find the note. without the highlight. After working on the document, I delete the tag Temporary

Wow! That is a nasty pill to swallow, especially with their current backtracking to go back to the legacy version. I've been using Evernote daily for the past 12 years with 60,000+ notes on two Evernote accounts and over 2,000 tags. What is going on with Evernote? Yes, that is a pointless question. They seem so far removed from their original 2nd brain concept.

Inexcusable and arrogant? If the lack of a program function really bothers you this much, then I suggest you take some decisive action and move on to another program.

Just got a wireless full-size keyboard to use in place of my laptop keyboard. I'm stumped by a basic keyboard combination. What is the key combination to select the entire line? I have been using Evernote for 10 years and now have 60,000 notes. When I reached 28,000 notes I started encountering the dreaded "Evernote not responding" message. It got worse and worse - lasting for up to 10 minutes. Each time I contacted support they would suggest the usual stuff that always ended up with the complete shut down, uninstall, move the data, reinstall, reboot and wait for 4 to 6 hours to rebuild the data. Uggg! Eventually, one support person suggested I split the account in half and open a new basic account. In order to get around the monthly update restriction, I upgraded. So I had 2 premium accounts for a couple months. After I moved half my files, I reverted back to the basic mode on my 2nd account. What goes into the 2nd account? I am a political junkie so I have thousands of national and international news reports. I also moved some of my larger PDF files. After all, how often do I need to look at my washing machine 174 page user manual? My personal opinion is that Evernote eventually solved the "not responding" problem. But I'm not brave enough to test my theory by combining both accounts.

It used to be a long and tedious multi-page PDF which included tons of information that I knew I would never use. I contacted Evernote Support. They nailed the issue and offered the solution. Thank you. 1.) On your Evernote page for Windows, select "Tools" 2.) Once you're on "Tools", select "Options" 3.) Under "Options", select "Navigation" 4.) Confirm that the "Show multi select view when more than one note is selected" toggle button is enabled/ticked 5.) Click "OK" to apply the changes

Evernote is constantly adding "new things to improve the usability and experience of their product." Just look through the hundreds of software upgrades they have created over the years. - - - - - - - - - - - - Why wasn't the request implemented? Evernote asks for and created a way for users to request features to analyze the demand. The point of this analysis is to compare a small number of requests for a new feature vs the market demand. Evernote then makes a decision on whether to proceed or stick with the ease of an existing work-around (copy and paste).

After upgrading to Evernote Windows 6.23.2.8859 (308859) Public, when selecting multiple notes, the NOTE PANEL goes blank. See the difference between a single selected note and multiple selected notes in the two attachments. The previous versions had a very helpful list of options to move the selected notes, add tag to the selected notes, merge the notes, etc. Did I accidentally change an option in the Tools drop-down? Or is this a known bug?

I started Evernote 12 years ago. I've been using it daily so my total note count (in 2 separate accounts) is hitting 60,000. I have approximately 1,600 tags, which use a specific system to avoid confusion. I have found the following works best for me: lots of specific tag names a consistent title structure for each note and just a few notebooks with general broad categories Many of my tags start with the 3-4 character prefix. A misfiled tag shows up like a sore thumb. Here are some examples of my prefix tags (Com- has the most number of tags): Com- for Company (tag:Com-WalMart) Fam- for close Family members (tag:Fam-JLB) Iss- for Political issues (tag:Iss-Election-2020) News- for Media (tag:News-FOX) Per- for Personal (tag:Per-Yard) Govt- for Government (tag:Govt-Federal) Ins- for Insurance (tag:Ins-Dental) Job- for Jobs (tag:Job-ITT) Tech- for Tech (tag:Tech-Android) Trav- for Travel (tag:Trav-Maine) p.s. 20,000 of my notes are for politics - local, state, country, and international. This group consumes a large variety of tags.

I use tags for better accuracy. I have 2,600 scanned receipts in my 30,000 notes in my primary account. Over the years, I have found some weaknesses in relying too heavily on the OCR process. The OCR gets confused with faded thermal paper receipts that have marks and folds after being stuck in my pocket or wallet. The OCR often finds words in my photos that are not even words. And the OCR finds words in detailed travel maps in my notes. Using Tags eliminate these false hits. The increased accuracy is worth the effort of tagging my receipts and financial paperwork.

I have a few notebooks. They are all Broad (general, not focused) - Notebook example is Financial, Personal, or Political-issues I have hundreds of tags. They are very specific - Tag example is Com-Amex, Brexit, or SpyGate

A different perspective from a user who has been using Evernote for 11 years and has 30,065 notes in my primary account and an additional 27,000 notes in my secondary account. My preference is to use broad Notebook names (Pending, Archived, Personal, Finance) and use specific Tag names as shown below. In my opinion, some of the advantages with my tag system are: * well structured for easy additions * logical and consistent * dashes for multiple word tags eliminates need for " " * easy to remember tag names * even if I forget the tag, just type the first letter and all the possible choices appear * close to a hierarchy setup (true hierarchy does not exist with Evernote) Tags for close family members Fam-JLB Fam-DLB Fam-BEB Tags for companies I do business with. Yes, there are a lot of tags over the past 11 years. Programming Error on Survey I received an Evernote email survey... "we’re asking you to share your feedback by October 29 by taking a 20-minute survey." So I got into the first few questions and then get locked out due to poor programming. The question states (Select all that apply). So I tried to check the selections for * Personal use and * Other (Specify) But after selecting Personal Use and trying to add the Other with the info field filled in, the program removes my first selection. Suggestion to Evernote: When you hire out a Survey to a 3rd party, do an internal test of the survey before sending it out to your customers.
