  1. I have reported the issue to Evernote support after this message, and they acknowledged the problem, yet it has been demoted from the roadmap since they are having admittedly more pressing support tickets. But, reporting all these three problems again maybe help bumping these problems upper in the list, if that's possible for you. Currently, I have no recourse, but to migrate these notes to one of the competitors, because they should be public and should be readable. That's important for me. When Evernote fixes these problems, I'll move these notes back to Evernote.
  2. I understand what you're saying, but I think you're acting with incomplete information. First of all, I understand that you want to work with Markdown files. That's fair. But the situation is not as bleak as you portray. First, Evernote supports Markdown-like syntax for fast formatting on the fly. It's at the bottom of their keyboard shortcuts. I just learnt that, and it's a big facepalm moment for me. Now, I can write like I write Markdown, at the same speed. Also, as I said, .enex contains information as a superset of Markdown, and can be downgraded to Markdown pretty easily. It's XML with a well defined DTD (see details here). There's at least one tool which converts .enex files to Markdown files. So if you want a small backup script which downloads everything and converts to Markdown, it can be done pretty easily. It would be ideal if this would be done by Evernote themselves, but this is the state we're in now. Obsidian is a nice tool, but I don't want to use a closed source Markdown editor for solely taking notes and syncing them over Dropbox, because I use many of the Evernote's features like sharing and collaboration. Dropbox part is not a problem. I pay them good money. But sharing notes over Obsidian will add another subscription with same price. If I want sync + collab, it's another expensive subscription. At the end, Obsidian is both closed source and expensive for a simple file format. Instead, I use Evernote, and collaborate much better in the end, with a better price too. Evernote's is not a one way door. In the last 13 years, I have left Evernote twice, took everything out and migrated elsewhere, however I came thrice, and have no intention to leave this time.
  3. I'm using Evernote to take notes while learning new things, and later share these notes when they reach a certain level of maturity. Since the subjects I'm working on are generally computer related, I use inline code formatting a lot. However, text formatted as inline code is rendered as normal text on the publicly shared note page. This inconsistency hurts the readability of the notes and takes important context out of the picture. An example is attached below: This is from Evernote: This is how it's rendered on the web: This is just a small example, and makes everything way harder when reading larger, longer notes. Also there are two other papercuts: It's not possible to access and use inline code formatting except its Markdown-equivalent auto-formatting shortcut (which is something I love, but it kills discoverability). There are empty lines after titles in web view, which makes the document look bad, and also hinders readability. Thanks for everything, Cheers, H.
  4. It's not that they need help. Their data format and formatting options is a superset of markdown, and they may handle some markdown inside the editor during the writing, but the data format they use (.enex) stores this data differently and in a more flexible manner. I think attacking the markdown formatting from a "support" perspective is wrong. I think the problem can be solved by handling markdown formatting and converting to Evernote native data structures, since Evernote supports everything markdown already supports. You can always export your note as .enex and convert to markdown with Pandoc.
  5. Looks like mailing support is a good idea, yes. Thanks, have a nice day, H.
  6. Thanks for your reply. Actually the situation is more complicated than that. I can actually access this note from "Notes" list, and it's in a shared notebook. I can't access this note from "shared with me" list. Looks like it's a shared note, which is moved to a notebook, shared by me, and things gone awry. I duplicated the note, and deleted the offending one, but it's still in the list. I may delete the note from the "sharing account" too, and if it doesn't fix the problem, I'll contact support. I have definitely have hit an edge case, and uncovered something awry in the process.
  7. Hello All, During my yearly Evernote tidying, I have noticed that some of the notes shared with me are not accessible anymore, which is not a problem. However, I was unable to find a way to clear the "Shared with Me" page of the notes which I can't access anymore. Is there a way, or is it overlooked, or am I missing something? Thanks in advance, Cheers, H.
  8. After upgrading my subscription through iTunes, Apple refunded my old subscription's unused part in a few days.
  9. I think you should talk with Evernote support via the link: https://www.evernote.com/SupportLogin.action
  10. I retried the upgrade process again, and it went through. However, my account info didn't change on my account page, so I chatted with Evernote support just now. All is well. It seems, the upgrade is being rolled out step by step, so everything will sort itself out in a day or two. Last Update: Lo and behold, everything sorted itself out. I'm using professional now.
  11. Hello all, Today, I wanted to upgrade my Evernote account to the newly announced "Evernote Professional", but failed to do so. I'm an Evernote user since 2013 and managing my subscription via Mac App Store since eternity. Here's the procedure and what's happening. First, I tried to change the plan directly: Open macOS App Store. Go to account (left bottom corner) Go to View Information (middle link at the top right triplet) Go to "Manage Subscriptions" (at the last triplet: reviews, subscriptions, whatnot) Find Evernote from the list, click edit. Select Evernote Professional, Annual Click "Done" Authenticate (TouchID → Confirm → Username → Password). Screen closes, no errors, Still Evernote Premium (Annual). Then, I tried to cancel the subscription (so, I thought I can resubscribe): Open macOS App Store. Go to account (left bottom corner) Go to View Information (middle link at the top right triplet) Go to "Manage Subscriptions" (at the last triplet: reviews, subscriptions, whatnot) Find Evernote from the list, click edit. Click "Cancel Subscription". Confirm. Screen closes, no errors, Still Evernote Premium (Annual), now with an expiration date (as intended). Further Notes: If I try to resubscribe, process goes like the first one, but again fails silently. I'm still seeing my Premium subscription with an expiration date. I can't upgrade via Evernote directly, since there's an active iTunes based subscription. The following line appears in the App Store logs after trying to subscribe/resubscibe: AMSMarketingItemTask: [A7A9C590] === Failed === -> error = Error Domain=AMSErrorDomain Code=7 "No marketing items found" UserInfo={NSLocalizedDescription=No marketing items found, NSLocalizedFailureReason=Found no marketing items for the given account} Ideally, I want to upgrade to Evernote Professional via iTunes / macOS App Store, since it allows me to track everything centrally, but at the end of the day, I want to be able to upgrade. All help is very welcome, Regards, H
