You could throw IFTTT/Zapier/Integromat into the middle there and just push all your Evernote notes to another service. Use it for capture but not storage.

When I start the Android app, I now get "Home" as my starting view. How can I change this to show me the All Notes view I used to get?

Also, feature request: Give us the option to remove Home from all apps.

There are lots of reasons why Evernote hasn't been making me super-happy lately:

• The new Mac app doesn't have AppleScript, which nerfs the 20 or 30 scripts and Keyboard Maestro macros I'd built for EN
• The Mac App is also just kind of goofy with the new interface, although it's getting better quickly, it still feels like a half-step backwards
• Home is absurd and pointless useless you truly use Evernote as your daily dashboard (and even then, it's nothing compared to what people are doing with Notion)
• EN has lost that magic cachet which caused it to be integrated with everything - now Android/Google Assistant integration requires IFTTT, and all the cool new apps require the same
• Still can't print on Android, which undermines its use as an auto-saving text editor and list manager on mobile
• Android continues to lag behind iOS, despite the new unified code base
• It's just bloaty and slow. Keeps getting better, but where it used to be an instant jump to my camera on my mobile, that's now a multi-second delay as often as not.

So I've been on a sojurn to look at other note taking apps, and there are many. However, none of them fit the bill. I rely on Evernote primarily as a "digital junk drawer" that's searchable, has everything in it, and is clean and fast (well...). For my purposes, at least, nothing else gives me:

• An amazing web clipper - nothing else comes close to what Evernote offers
• Excellent straight-up-typing search (Nimbus Note is the closest competitor to Evernote, but its plain-text search is beyond abysmal for a large library of notes)
• The ability to absorb any kind of content and make it searchable in one place - there's nothing else that works as well as a digital "junk drawer"
• A mobile (Android) app that keeps things offline, so I can use it to store my boarding passes (remember when we could travel?), ID cards, grocery lists, and everything else I need when I find myself offline or in a bad connection area
• Very strong integration with IFTTT and Zapier (while I wish more was integrated, if I have to use another automation tool I'd like it to be a first-class member)
• The ability to export all of my data in multiple formats, including images, attachments, and everything, with zero loss in fidelity. There's plenty of Markdown-based notetakers out there that will give you a bunch of text files, but ENEX saves everything, and lots of other tools enable import. Likewise, HTML export basically turns my notebooks into a portable archive I can use with anything. Whether or not Evernote survives for another 10 years, I know I can keep all my data.

While there's losses in features and growing pains with the new apps, there's also momentum. Home notwithstanding, every release is better than the last. Many of the competing note editors have seen themselves launch and then abandon core features or vanish entirely.

That said, I've let my paid membership lapse. $80/year adds a lot to my subscription overload, and Evernote is not up to the task of being my central hub for all the things. And maybe it's because I've been locked at home for 18 months, some of those advanced features just aren't as necessary these days. I'm taking a lot fewer photos of whiteboards and not carrying travel docs around with me for business trips. I did reactivate for a month to search for some images that I couldn't search anymore, though.

Would love to see costs go down, that would go a long way, even if it was contingent on a multi-year prepay. The competition keeps getting stronger, and some of the tools out there nail things for specialized uses, greater speed, and are increasingly hitting feature-parity; and cost half as much on an annual subscription.

Heck, even looking towards premium users, I can get Office 365, which includes a TERABYTE of storage, plus OneNote (which is a credible competitor, to be sure) and the rest of the Office suite, for $10/year less than Evernote. If I'm looking at business, Office 365 Premium is $13/month vs. Evernote's $15/month, and there's no comparison at all features-wise.

This is actually problematic in the legacy version and on the web. Makes screenshots a particular bother.

You can work around this by exporting your Evernote note as a web page and copy/paste from there. No, I don't consider that acceptable, but it does work. (And, once in HTML format, you can import it into another program that DOES support copy and paste. Just an idea.)

Was able to work around this with IFTTT. Not ideal, but it works.

Doesn't even show up as an available notes app for me.

I can no longer use Evernote as the notes app for Google Assistant. When I go to the settings screen, it doesn't appear.

Is this a feature lost in version 10?

Wanted to give a shout-out to the Evernote team for the new Android app. I will be the first to acknowledge that I'm not nearly as much of an Android power user as I am on the desktop (Mac Version), which has comparably been a painful and frustrating experience with the new version.

Android v10, with the recent updates, is easy to navigate, quick to create notes, and my beloved widgets are back!

I've been shopping alternatives to Evernote for a couple of months now and haven't found something that hits all the high notes (including, unfortunately, Evernote). But with the new Android version, I'm planning to stick around on the basic version and see how this version-10 experiment pans out over 2021. 

Still not worth $80/year, and hasn't been for a while, but this 10+ year Evernoter is sticking with the elephant thanks to the great new Android release.

I can now copy and paste from a web page into Evernote. Copying out of Evernote still loses images. The same is true if I copy from EN on the web. Old Evernote continues to work as expected and I can copy/paste from it.

Another win for using a website as a desktop app.

I was having this problem, but the latest update for the Mac seems to have resolved it. I can now merge notes with images and nothing disappears after I sync the desktop.

Same. Any workarounds?

I have a note that contains images and text. When I select and copy, I cannot paste into another app with images - it only copies the text. Seems to be the same on the web version. Is there a workaround for this? 

I'm accustomed to using Evernote to gather information while I research things on the web. If I can't copy it out easily, that greatly undermines Evernote's usefulness. I'm pretty sure this used to work on the web and the old Mac version.

Mac Evernote isn't staying up to date with new web clipper content. In order to get it visible in the app, I need to restart it.

Is there a keyboard shortcut or something to force things to sync/refresh? Otherwise I have to restart, but that sometimes causes me to lose edits. (NOT loving that!)

Steps to reproduce:

• Take multiple screenshot notes
• Merge the notes
• Open web editor
• Web version has no images in the note but text remains
• Restart mac version
• Mac version has no images in the note
• Note history is blank

There might be other ways to cause this.

I suspect this might be a sync issue, but I'm not sure.

Bump. This is ridiculous. Major feature lacking from Android and it hasn't been addressed in three years.

Now that all the Evernote clients on the desktop are built on web technologies, it would be very nice to see the web client become feature-complete. Multi-selection would be a great start, more keyboard shortcuts, and note admin tasks like import and export.

I'd just like to say that this lack is only more annoying every year. Android Evernote also doesn't work with Android's standard sharing interface at all, which is the way most apps access printing. Seems like Evernote for Android has basically stopped development in any meaningful way. 

Now that EN works pretty well on Chromebooks, this is an embarrassing omission...

When I use the web interface or Mac version, my edits are saved while I type. On Android, I have to leave edit mode in order to save changes. Not such a big deal on a phone where I'm not doing a lot of input, but now that I'm using it more on a Chromebook, I really miss that feature.

This is an absurd omission. Yes, probably more than a line of code, but sort of a critical feature. 

Can you export Paperless to a folder tree of some sort? Does Paperless support AppleScript?
