  1. @pez - of course a package like EN has a lot of different ways of using it, so different people will report different levels of success. I've never tried or needed alt+ to use the menus (the set of shortcuts already defined is quite extensive). For the issue of the display, I've had this when plugging my laptop into a project. However, if I boot the machine with the projector connected, then EN in Wine uses the whole screen properly. I don't know if this will help in your case! For the issues with NixNote2: As above, the Evernote API doesn't allow access to shortcuts, so until EN decide to grant this nothing can be done. I've not had any problems deleting notes. By copy you mean duplicate? There is a duplicate note function, yes. Not sure what this means? I don't use reminders, so have not tested this. I haven't seen this - if you have "sync on shutdown" set, it could be that this takes some time and blocks the restart? Overall these issues don't seem like show-stoppers, and if there are minor feature requests (like sorting of reminders) then these are probably added easily by contacting the author. Have fun! Mark
  2. A few comments on the above discussion! The last version of EN that worked very well on Wine, for me, was Evernote_5.8.14.8221.exe - later versions didn't refresh the note window when you clicked on a different note. The latest version (5.9.3...) fixes this, but brings another problem - the editor toolbar (which usually pops up when you click in a note to edit it) doesn't appear. In fact it seems that all notes are being displayed effectively "read only". I can't make any edits at all. If anyone has a solution for this, I'd be very grateful! NixNote2 is working very well in the latest release. Although official releases are not so frequent, the Github repository (https://github.com/baumgarr/Nixnote2) is updated often and the author is very responsive to suggestions and bug fixes. So if you're not afraid to do an occasional "git pull" and "make" then that's for sure the way to go. On the issue of shortcuts, if I understand correctly the Evernote API does not expose shortcuts. So NixNote also has shortcuts, but they are not sync'd with the Evernote service.
  3. I've just got a larger tablet, and Evernote is a key app that I use in my work. I often find myself browsing through recent notes, and wanting to see as much of them on the screen as possible in landscape mode. Currently the workflow is very fragmented - I have to hit the ... menu, then full screen. Then if I want to switch to another note I have to back out of full screen, choose the next note in list, and repeat the full screen process. I keep finding myself trying to swipe from the note to the left to collapse/hide the note list - so I guess this would be an intuitive action! With a right-swipe re-showing the note list. Alternatively, if the full-screen access was left untouched, then swiping left/right in the note would be a quick way to change notes without having to mess around every time with back / ... / full screen etc. Either of these would be a great solution and (IMO) greatly enhance the key service that Evernote provides - accessing and browsing your note collection. Regards, Mark
  4. Yes, if I enter stack:test into the search tab, I get "0 results found", whereas stack:TEST shows all results correctly. I'm using Chrome 40.0.2214.115 if that makes a difference...
  5. Agreed - my suspicion is that most users, most of the time, open the web client to find information - the default view should therefore be the note list. Or of course make this an option in the settings...
  6. Dear all, Some feedback about the new web beta... on the desktop I work a lot with selecting notebook stacks and seeing all notes within this stack. In the web beta this doesn't seem to be possible - clicking anywhere in the stack name (not just on the arrow) folds/unfolds the stack. It would be great if one could filter to notes in a stack by click. On a related no, I tried using the stack: search grammar. On the desktop this is case insensitive, but it appears that on the web beta it is case sensitive. i.e. searching for stack:MIDAS gives me my notes, stack:midas gives me zero notes). Is this a bug? Thanks, Mark
  7. In addition to my previous comments, I can't understand why the new EN web beta opens in "new note" mode. This is surely not what most people want to do straight away? I would have thought opening in the note view (with the top note already visible!) would have been much more suitable - with a prominent button to quick add a new note, if desired. EN is a great information retrieval system - this is its strength, not as a text editor. Play to your strengths and give us an interface where finding information is paramount! Just my two eurocents worth... Mark
  8. I've just had a quick play with the new EN web beta - it looks very slick, but the "distraction free" additions also mean lots of wasted space, especially when browsing a note list before clicking a note. Some of these issues would be solved if EN jumped straight to the first note in the list (like the desktop clients). Much of the time I want to continue working on the last note I updated, and showing the note list with lots of white space either side doesn't gain much. Similarly the "tall" headers above the note list are in the way of getting as much information on the screen as possible (i.e. where is says "NOTES" and a count etc.). One option would be to do something similar to various Google tools and allow a "Display density" (compact, cozy, comfortable etc.) that changes the amount of whitespace. The fullscreen option also doesn't use the full screen - it hides the note list, but doesn't really expand the note editor. Also, I couldn't see a way to search the tag or notebook list. Finally a good set of keyboard shortcuts are a must for a tool like EN - I couldn't find any way to easily leave editing mode, escape didn't even cancel pop-up dialogues. In short - a good beta, I see where you're going with it, but for many users (I hate to use the phrase "power users, but you know what I mean) there is a way to go to make it an efficient tool. Cheers, Mark
  9. Hi all - just to let you all know, I tested a recent build of Chromium on Ubuntu yesterday (31) and the clipper works fine. And this morning the official version has been upgraded in the repositories to Chromium 30, and the clipper also works...
  10. A quick update in response - firstly I wasn't aware you didn't support the Clipper on linux, I thought it was purely per browser (at least I can't see anything listed on your website or in the Chrome store). To the other points: there are no popups being blocked and cookies are allowed. I managed to get hold of a virtual machine running Windows, and in that case the clipper works - though the comparison is not straightforward since that machine runs Chrome 31 on WIndows 7. There was mention of different accounts - this machine has only ever used one Evernote account, so that should not be a problem. I would be happy to provide more details information to resolve this - please let me know what you need! Thanks, Mark
  11. Hi there, I've just updated to ubuntu 13.10 from 13.04, and with it Chromium to version 29.0.1547.65. However, the Evernote clipper no longer works at all - the behaviour is the same on several computers. I have tried un-installing and re-installing the clipper, restarting Chromium etc. This prompts me to log in and authenticate, which works fine (I have a Premium account, if that makes a difference). But on any webpage the clipper does not response when I click the button. The drop-down for EN clipper log files is also empty. I'm using clipper build ID: c3984a1/ Any suggestions? Regards, Mark
  12. Hi there, I'm using the latest clipper for chrome and have the problem that images embedded in pages with data URIs appear to not be clipped. I first noticed this when trying to clip from ipython notebook, but the problem still appears with a more simple example, e.g. http://css-tricks.com/examples/DataURIs/ Is support for images embedded in this way on the roadmap? Regards, Mark
  13. Agreed, a native linux app would be great - whether built by the Evernote team, or someone else using the API. There is also mention of possible future Evernote support on the BasKet Notes site (but I think that doesn't support images, which I use a lot..?). In the meantime, a few fixes to help those using Evernote under Wine would go a long way! My particular issue is in getting images in. I don't necessarily expect the clipper to work properly given the limited clipboard capability of Wine, but it would be great if auto import folders could be fixed - then I can grab screenshots or dump files using any old program and have them appear in Evernote. Currently I email items, but the email/wait/click sync/etc. loop is long enough to disrupt my workflow. I've posted this elsewhere, but to review, Evernote under Wine gives the following errors: On clicking File Import: "You don't have any registered notebooks. Please do sync with your account" [all of my notebooks are sync'd OK] One can click through this message, and continue to try and add a folder, but it never appears. If you now OK, you get "Can't write volume label on Z: Drive should be writable during initial auto-import configuration. Check if drive is not write-protected and try again" This may be impossible for Evernote to solve, but it would be interesting to hear from one of the developers if there's a quick fix Regards, Mark
