About michaelwiller

  1. Fair enough. I respect your choice. thanks for the reply engberg. So when I absolutely *have* to retain the formatting of a note, then a word-document or something else is the right way to go? thank you.
  2. Would it be possible to get a short response from Evernote on this one, please? This is a daily occurence for me. I can't be the only user with this. Am I asking for the moon or is it possible for you do something like this in a future version. I'm not asking for full editing on mobile devices. Just for the feature of a note being editable (in the same way) on Windows and Mac.
  3. I'm using Evernote on Windows (at work) and on Mac (at home). The thing I truly wish for (for Cristmas maybe) is consistent editing cross-platform. That is editing of new and existing notes created in Evernote - not web-clips, pdfs or whatever. Let me give you few examples: On the Mac side I can tabulate my text using a table - this feature is not available on Windows. A font choice on either side (for ex. to a monospace for tabular viewing) seems to be ignored when sync'ed to the other platform. The same happens to bold, underscore a.s.o. In some of the notes I create - actually quite a few - the formatting is important, at least when used as quick references in work (or work-related) situations. Are the above mentioned features wishful thinking or is it possible - without resorting to an external editor like word or whatever? I love using Evernote. So read the above as an attempt to fix something that really bugs me on a daily basis. I like the feature-set of the internal editor just fine and if I need more heavy-duty editing I'll switch to Word, Excel, ... The only problem is that the features on the non-mobile platforms are out of sync, so to speak. thanks, Michael
  4. I know you take it seriously. I know where you're going or at least where you want to go. Regarding time responsetime. I don't expect anyone to be available 24*7, you did however answer several other questions. A simple "I'll get back to you on that one." would have done it. But I need an answer to a simple question. And question that's been asked many times on the forum - granted: for different features. The simple question is "when?". And since I cant get a straight answer or even a guess as to when that answer will be coming. Then I'm spending my time on the wrong forum and on the wrong product. As simple as that. cheers and good luck, Michael
  5. Hmm, no reponse although all other posts of the day have been answered by dengberg. OK, I get the message. Bye
  6. I've created a new thread from this one: viewtopic.php?f=30&t=5667 Reason for that is that the original thread started out as a question on how to change password, then moved into an interesting discussion on privacy. Since Premium subscription is available now. Let me state here that my signing up for that is dependent upon a "secure" notebook. I.e. a notebook where all data is encrypted. SSL does not cut it for me. I have to be sure that my enterprise notes only can be read by me and only on the desktop. Dave said something about secure-notebooks could be achieved using and online backup service and EN2.2. This is not true. I have 2 PCs and one Mac (I know too many computers) but EN3's Mac client is a Godsend since synchronizing notes across platforms is a pain ... Second EN3 will merge updated notebook (just as EN2 does with the USB-sync feature in the professional version). For me means I have access to my notes on all computers. The only thing missing is to have access to the enterprise notes as well. Someone else noted that printing is a pain, when notes are partly encrypted - I agree on that as well. A "secure" notebook would solve that problem as well. Please implement "secure" notebooks. I'd accept (almost) any limitations you'd put on an alpha version (no image recognition except on client, no web-access, ...) thanks Michael

  8. This is another example of EN not thinking in terms of professional users. This is another viewtopic.php?f=37&p=25049#p25049 . Another is the lack of support for attached files expect read-only PDFs. I'm beginning to wonder if EN3 is intended for professional use at all. If it is, then start listening please (as opposed to arguing). We spend time on this forum to make sure that EN3 will support our usage of it. Thus ensuring you a premium account client-base of professional users. But answers like this and in the other threads will make you loose our support in no time.
  9. 3.0.0.582 windows When adding tags to a note in EN2 the search drop-down would search using a contains-search. Now it seems that the search is a begins-with-search instead. Example: I have a note called "01 High Priority", in EN2 entering "high" would find it. In EN3 it can only by found by entering "01". I hope this is changed back to the way it was (I have some very long tag-names - for projects and such). thanks Michael
  10. SSL option? That's great, I'll need that. But I'd still like an encryption option as well. Not for a note or two, but for an entire database. I know that this will make it unreadable in a web-client - I can live with that just fine, as long as I can access the database from my Mac and Winblows PC - I'll be very happy. I'm not asking for this because I have something to hide. I'm asking because it just might be the only way for me to use EN3 for my "sensitive" data-files (references to contracts, bids a.s.o.) I agree that an alternative is a local database. But that would require a USB sync option or at the very least a backup option. Hope this clarifies my point. Anyway: using EN3 now for my less sensitive notes and loving it. Good job guys!
  11. Hi Evernote-gang, Just a quick about what would make me use EN3. First of all let me say that EN3 looks great! The database-sync is a great feature and I would love to use it on a daily basis. But, I use EN2 professionally. I'm a Project Manager so a lot of the text entered are plans, todos and strategic stuff from meetings with Sales about ongoing projects, new clients and so on. This information is, of course, confidential. So for me to use EN3 I would have to be sure that the information I enter is mine, and mine alone. This means encrypted network traffic and encryted storage - where I pick the encryption key for storage. Not just the CTLR+SHIFT-P option. All notes encrypted in the database. If that was possible, I'd buy a Premium membership in a flash! If not, I couldn't use EN3 as my notebook. I'm not sure if EN3 continues the sync-options from EN2 (portable-drive, ...). If so I could still use a free version or maybe a licensed version but I wouldn't use the database-sync, which IMHO is the EN3 "Claim To Fame". If the "old" sync-options won't be available in EN3, I'd have to stick with EN2 or change to another product. Please note: I'd have to be *very* sure that my notes were encrypted and secure. My company would insist on it. thanks Michael Willer
