I'm having the exact same behaviour in my Tab S9. Annoying! Have tried reinstalling the app, I'll try that.

Interestingly this doesn't happen in my Google Pixel 7 Pro, and I think they are pretty much the same app, so... It makes me think the issue could lie in having the Evernote App data stored in the microSD as opposed to internal memory. Is it the same for you?

I also use Evernote on my Pixel 8 Pro with no problems. How do I find out when the app stores data on the Samsung tablet? I do have a microSD card in the tablet.

I reinstalled Evernote for the second time, and so far it didn't crash.

  2. I have the latest version of Evernote installed on my Galaxy Tab S9+. When I click on the Evernote icon, the app opens up and displays my Home start page. As soon as I click on any note, it crashes (the page closes up). I uninstalled and reinstalled the app once, it worked for a while and then started crashing again.

Did anyone experience this situation? Is there a way to fix it or should I contact support?

    Thanks

I was a paid user all the time, but honestly cannot go on with v10so must move all my notes somewhere outside. Decided to go on with 6.25 until it kept syncing and that bad day eventually came. Have to move away.

So need anything similar, the key factor is desktop (windows) performance and being able to work offline. If that is an open-source product - that would be a hard plus effective. The self-hosted back-end is even better. I can't believe no one ever managed to do a clone of Evernote, given how effective and helpful it WAS.

I don't think there is a perfect Evernote replacement but try UpNote. https://getupnote.com

Upnote is decent note app that runs on Windows.  Their documentation mentions an import from Evernote, but I have never used it so can't speak to how good that process is.

I signed up for Upnote and was able to import my Evernote notes and folders easily. It works on the web, Android, and probably iPhone. It's inexpensive and does a lot of things, including web clipping. However, I still use Evernote and pay the crazy price...

I appreciate you are trying to be helpful,  but I don't open file attachments from anyone these days,  because you never know whether they might come with little surprises attached.  Also Evernote has taken down any links to the 'old' version - apart,  apparently from the link quoted in the thread here - has big red flashes over the UI warning that an update is urgently necessary,  and generally seems to be sending a message that using Legacy is a generally bad idea.

I did not think that they would appreciate the installer being available in the Forums here.

And yes,  I'm a mod here along with a couple of others.

Thank you for your polite explanation and response.

can someone please post a working version of legacy, Clearly debate among software developers isn't interesting to most people who just want to get to their notes.  Some of us have been supporting you for 10 years...Link Please?

I posted an attachment of the Legacy version, but it was removed... Send me a personal message if interested.

Wish you luck - and you know there is a difference between subjective impression and objective execution.

You have not complained when prices were flat since 2016 - maybe you should have bothered more back then than now ? Because new features were as flat as the price level, which usually is a more critical sign.

But obviously only price raises catch your attention …

    What is "objective execution"?

Who ever objected to prices not go up??

You betcha, 85% price increase catches my attention...

There is not much of a re-conversion, and it won’t be a user doing it (OK, maybe some coder among the users will try). Water doesn’t flow uphill. Complex data structures usually can’t be brute forced into a simpler form without a loss of information. For me it is quite obvious that the days of legacy are counted.

    Tell it to Federico...

Why can't all my 4000 notes be converted into this new structure in the background? This is ridiculous!

There was an interview with the Bending Spoon guy (Federico?) where he explained that some users, using the legacy version still need the old format. If it's going to be mass converted, the legacy users will need to re-convert back.

Yesterday night I got an update notice on my MacBook. I installed, it was 10.56. Working OK, from the release notes it is a bug fix and efficiency update, whatever it means.

The update had no negative impact on my legacy installation. It started as before in parallel to v10, was syncing and all. As known it has some deficiencies that came with MacOS Ventura.

Perhaps because you are on Mac. I am a Windows 10 user. When I open the legacy, the 10.56 opens up as well. At that point I can not close the 10.56 - it insists on staying open.

That’s the regular procedure when you upgrade to v10.

It use to be possible to install legacy again after the upgrade. If this is still possible I don’t know. If in doubt, contact support.

First of all, I did not upgrade, I just installed the update to my version 10.55

When I upgraded a few months ago, I was able to download and install the legacy version. Now it's not available anywhere...

Man, I can understand price increases over time but this is pretty big in a single event.  Obviously, if it's worth the price to the user---than that's what it is but it sure makes me think harder about ending my flirtation with Notion and jumping in 100%.

Whether it's worth the money or not, is not the issue. It's how we assess the judgment of the new owners of Evernote to deal with the people they need to pay the bills...

@Reuven, I will try to remember to report back here in June. My billing date is my billing date; there is no indication that they will reach in for more after it has passed--at least that's how I read it. If my price doesn't go up, will you call me a realistic sage instead? ;)

I will call myself an alarmist... On a serious note, I think Federico and his team are following closely this and other Evernote forums. I also wrote a personal email to him with my thoughts. Perhaps they will adopt a "smarter" way to implement this stiff price increase.
