  1. Yes, the grouping that the Mac client does for the actual search against your database is unfortunately not exactly the same it uses for highlighting matches within a note. We have a bug filed on this to make it more consistent.
  2. Apple doesn't want free iOS programs that charge money in other manners without offering an iTunes payment option. Evernote's iOS application includes an option directly in our application to pay for your Evernote subscription via iTunes directly from the app. Our understanding is that this is ok ... Apple doesn't expect companies to *only* accept payments from iTunes, but rather that they accept iTunes if they also accept other payments.
  3. Thanks for the feedback. We keep this information in some log files for analytics and auditing, but don't currently incorporate it into an online UI for users.
  4. Evernote isn't going to be a full-fledged workflow/groupware system, but we do offer some level of collaboration via "shared notebooks". Currently, a Premium user can share a notebook with another person, who can read and edit notes in that notebook via the web or the Mac client. We're working on similar support in our Windows client. This is most useful if the recipients are either primarily reading notes, or else creating new notes. Simultaneous editing of the same note will be difficult.
  5. For step #2, you can also just click on the elephant icon in the menu bar and choose "Quit"
  6. The "helper app" is needed to make the elephant icon in the menu bar work ... this supports making screenshots and pasting directly into Evernote from the OS.
  7. Thanks for the feedback, we're definitely considering solutions for something like this in the future. I.e. if you want to casually send a link to a single note without publishing the entire notebook.
  8. That's a great idea! We have a few tchotchkes that we give out (e.g. candy in an Evernote wrapper), but nothing virtual right now. Thanks for the suggestion.
  9. Please open a support inquiry at the bottom of: http://www.evernote.com/about/contact/support/
  10. Currently, there's no interface to perform batch editing of tags across multiple notes, but thanks for the feedback.
  11. What happens when you try to search for a word in Evernote? Does it say that it didn't find any notes, or do you get some other sort of error? There may be some clues in the logs after you try a search. To see the logs: Help > Activity Log...
  12. Thanks for the report, I've filed a bug with QA. Do you see the same thing if you choose "Paste without Formatting" ?
  13. I think this is what happened: When you tried to clip Evernote, we received the basic HTML for the web page and then tried to grab every image in your page/selection to store in the note. We made a separate HTTP request for each of these images, and that web server refused to give us some of those images because Evernote's client application didn't have permission. So instead of storing a real image directly in our note, we left an external reference in the form of an 'img' tag with a URL pointing back at the secured web site: Now, whenever your client tries to display that note using the embedded "WebKit" engine, the HTML viewer tries to retrieve that image and fails due to the password requirement. You're seing a prompt to give access to actually retrieve that image from its original web server. I don't know of any workaround for this behavior, although perhaps if you copied and pasted the content into a note in Evernote, that may give different results. I'll file a bug to hopefully prevent it in the future.
  14. Yes, the next Mac release has an option to toggle a PDF from "inline" to "attachment" display mode via right-click (Cmd-click) context menu. There's a new preference to say how PDF clips should start (inline vs. attachment).
  15. You could check the stacks for your notebooks using the new web preview: viewtopic.php?f=57&t=22392 I'd be curious to know if the moving notebooks also move on the web, or if it's only a display glitch on the Mac client.
  16. Yes, if you press the "report" button, one of us will see it in the list the next time we log in. It's pretty fast for us to block that person's IP address and delete the post, but the problem is that phpBB forum spam is largely automated now. We're a couple of minor versions behind on our forum software right now, so hopefully the next upgrade will help reduce spam (again).
  17. I think this is a bug in the latest version that will be fixed in the next release.
  18. No, the plug-in requires that you have the local app to clip to. If you don't install the local app, you can still use the "bookmarklet" web clipper, which is available at the bottom of: http://www.evernote.com/about/download/web_clipper.php
  19. You can uninstall Evernote by quitting from the elephant icon in the menu bar, then drag our application to the Trash. You can download the latest version from: http://www.evernote.com/about/download/ If that fails, you can open a support inquiry at the bottom of: http://www.evernote.com/about/contact/support/
  20. There's no way to create that directly within the note editor, since it requires some HTML styling that isn't configurable in the UI, unfortunately.
  21. Each encrypted region may have a different passphrase, but we try to encourage you to use the same one so you don't accidentally make a typo and lose data. If you restart the client, and then decrypt the region completely *without* remembering your passphrase, then you can select the text and re-encrypt it by typing in a different passphrase. If it doesn't match the phrase used in other notes, then it will give you an option to encrypt with that different phrase. You'd need to do that to each encrypted region, however.
  22. That's great, thanks. I think that Andrew has an interview with Mark lined up for our next podcast.
  23. On Mac, you can print to a PDF directly into Evernote, but we don't have anything comparable on Windows. Realistically, if we ever did figure out a good bundled "print to Evernote" virtual driver solution, it would probably be based on PDF anyway ... it'd be too hard to represent the printed output of every single Windows application without relying on PDF, I think. (E.g. if you printed from some sort of CAD/CAM software or something like that.)
  24. I think Andrew made that video using an emulator, since the alternative would involve a video camera and fat fingers in the video ... However, I tried out a similar set of operations on my Droid (Milestone 1), and the performance was pretty similar except for: * The "loading note" step took a bit longer since I was on 3G, not WiFi * Actually typing text takes a million times longer with my sausage-fingers on the lousy Droid 1 keyboard The rest of the browsing and scrolling was about as smooth. Clicking on a region of text to start editing it is pretty slick. I may be biased, but I think the Android team did a great job on this release.
