All my notes in Evernote were saved and downloaded as PDF. If I don't upgrade, will I lose the PDFs that are currently on my Windows hard drive?

No, and you will not lose them from your account.  If you downgrade to free, you will still be able to access them to read and edit but not add more if you have more than 50 notes in your account and more than one notebook.

  2. There were several versions floating around and personally I haven't seen the final one that was shown in the video, but I think what they have settled on will work for me.  What they didn't mention is that the iPad home screen is back to being the same as desktop, at least for me, so the changes they are showing appear to be only for the phone.

    Or get a Mac … 🙃

I know this is in jest, but AFAIK I don't see the Mac behavior getting me any closer to what @allendick describes.

the clipper that could select any screen area in any window and would instantly put that clip into Evernote as a note, or, if control was held, into the clipboard, or if shift was held, into a file on the desktop

It is this specific behaviour that I miss in V10.

  4. I’m just letting you know the situation and giving you a better way to respond than complaining to fellow users.

(specifically how the part "you will maintain access to all of your notes and notebook" relates to the limits of a free account)?

There is no insider information.  The information is there if you search.  If you can't find answers to specific questions then ask away ... politely.

I doubt individual demands carry much weight and you have engaged enough here on the forums to know that it is unlikely Evernote will see this.  Best to send your comments to feedback@evernote.com if you want to be heard, but don't expect a response.  This communication channel is one way only.

What version of ScanSnap manager are you using

I'm using 7.2 L60.  Snapscan manager does save to a file first.  You can set whether in pdf or jpg format and there is an option to rename the file after scanning.  I find that a little easier than renaming in Evernote, and I also don't mind having a backup file saved outside of Evernote.
