  1. I am not seeing the 8.2 version, do you mean a beta? I would recommend avoiding Android betas, too hard to get rid of when there is a problem, unlike Windows betas, because the Android beta replaces the regular version on the Google market, or at least it did last time I tried the Android beta program.
  2. That might be why I cannot get it to work in Windows either, at least not the example at https://www.w3schools.com/tags/tryit.asp?filename=tryhtml5_summary
  3. Exporting from Evernote and importing into onenote worked just fine for me as of this date, but using Onenote on Windows, Android, and iOS was not an enjoyable experience, so I gave it up. For me speed is everything, and only Evernote is fast enough.
  4. Just got the new Boox Note ereader this weekend, it is quite an interesting experience so far, Evernote actually runs reasonably well in it, keeping in mind the slowness of every eink screen, yet the device is relatively fast for an eink. But I am finding I miss the desktop functionality with it, yet it serves the intended purpose of saving my eyes since the screen is not back lit, that it does pretty well. It also works well with a bluetooth keyboard, in fact it is much easier to use with it than with the touch screen. Input without an external keyboard is not so good, though I never did do much typing in touch screens anyway.
  5. I noticed something else. The initial reported behavior happened when I had a number of tags starting with the underscore. Now that I have removed it from all tags except one or two test tags, the behavior does not occur. I am beginning to think it maybe a bug that depends on how often those characters appear in the tag list, rather than a feature. I wasn't able to reproduce what Eldorado was mentioning, except I could get partial matches without the use of special characters.
  6. Here is the full list of individual characters from my keyboard, sorted as tags by Evernote Windows: ' - " # $ % & ( ) * . / : ; ? @ [ \ ] ^ _ ` { | } ~ + < = > 0-9 a-z (case is ignored) I have discovered that when I added the letter A after each one of them, the sort behavior of two of them changed: both 'a and -a went to the bottom of the special stack tag list. It seems that those characters have no effect on sorting in the presence of other characters (except space). Apparently the same in Windows Explorer., not sure on Android and iOS
  7. That may explains a few things. I created a few random files in Explorer, and it does appear to sort like Evernote does for the most part. I guess I can experimentally enter all those characters in the tag list just to see what they do.
  8. I did notice the issue of containing vs beginning in Android, but in Windows it doesn't appear related, so it seems some sort of bug (or maybe special character?)
  9. I just discovered the problem is even worse in Android (even more unexpected matches), but it appears to work properly in iOS. Basically I am trying to follow the ascii sort order in order to sort tags the way I want them, but Evernote appears to not pay attention to the sorting rules too closely, it has some other sort order I don't quite understand.
  10. Hello, I have edited a number of tags to begin with a period (.) and some others with an underscore (_), so that when I enter those characters, all the tags starting with them would show in the tag list. Well, when I enter the period it shows all tags starting with it as expected, but when I enter the underscore, it shows all tags starting with the underscore AND all tags starting with the period. Plus some others starting with (`). The only thing they may have in common is that I previously may have started them all with an underscore, while experimenting to figure the best way to get tags to sort the way I want them, but that should be irrelevant since I tried several different combinations in the mean time. Currently using 6.13.13.7425 (307425) GA for Windows (too much noise going on in the beta discussion, so I put this as a separate discussion, even if it maybe related to the beta)
  11. InfoSelect for Windows is an old tool from back in the day, still available, single platform and not as versatile in terms of graphics or multimedia as Evernote, but it had the best search of any program in my recollection, plus it doesn't have the indexed search limitations of Evernote, if I remember correctly.
  12. Currently the only somewhat reasonable substitute I find to be an intelligent use of files together with Windows Explorer, plus a few Autohotkey scripts. I have been surprised how fast Explorer can be, especially if you know how to set the indexing service correctly, search is nearly instantaneous (on my fast Windows computer anyways). Theoretically one could sync with Dropbox to other devices. The only issue I would not be satisfied about is note (file) linking, I heavily depend on linking, and while html can handle file linking just fine, creating it and maintaining could be a bit burdensome, though browser bookmarks exports could help with this. One advantage (or disadvantage depending on how you look at it) is that the responsibility for file protection against corruption is yours. This limits the extent of any damage, but makes it very hard to detect hidden problems. While this system would probably work best with text files, it can work with any file supported by Explorer (text, PDF, Office, etc), that is, as far as file content, Explorer can of course find any file name.
  13. Nimbus looks like an immature Evernote, and somewhat buggy, as noticed when trying to paste links and text, plus note links take you only to a browser, so not within the program itself. I look forwards to seeing the competition grow some more.
  14. In Evernote a link can be added directly to an emoji via the right click hyperlink menu (I just tested it and it works), if the other program supports emojis and hyperlinks, the same approach should work in theory.
  15. The small fortune might the worth it the first time, but each upgrade is nearly as expensive. I have an earlier version which I like, but the upgrades I find prohibitively expensive and they are usually just incremental.
  16. I think the simplest solution is to put a file link in Evernote, say all the Mindmaps in your computer, basically using Evernote as an index to your files. I know how to do this one file at a time, the trick is how to do it in bulk, otherwise I would be doing it all the time.
  17. The frustrating thing about this is that partial word search already exists within Evernote, but it only works for search within note (Ctrl-F). They simply need to allow this pre-existing search engine (or whatever programmers call it) to search the entire database. Or am I barking up the wrong tree? In regards to what someone else mentioned, I think it is not necessary to have this capability on all platforms, Windows/Mac should be more than enough, besides we are all used to crippled versions of Evernote on our portable devices. 🙄
  18. Nothing quite that complex, I simply am looking for something easy on the eyes (for eye protection, in view of no night mode, and the built in invert in some devices doesn't work so well because of too much color variety to invert. I may try the new Boox Note ereader since it is a little cheaper than the Max2, Amazon reviews on both Boox devices suggest running Evernote on those devices has already been tried, unfortunately they don't seem to have commented about it on this site.
  19. I would never have subscribed to Evernote if it wasn't for the Plus option, I don't need most of what the Premium option has to offer, and theoretically could go back to a free membership if Plus was eliminated and Premium remains expensive, though it would be somewhat of a hardship to go back now. The real clincher for me is how Evernote has been gradually removing popular features, like night mode in iOS for example, one of the main reasons I never subscribed to Premium in the first place, I truly hate the colors chosen which cannot be changed. It literally took me years to start using Evernote seriously because of the green on white thing. So, if users will never be given the option to control colors, then night mode is a minimum to consider Premium a possibility, but still Premium seems geared to business users rather than personal users like me.
  20. I love wikis, used to use them to keep my data, but I suspect it would not work on Evernote for a few reasons: 1-All the wiki links I have ever seen require the source and destination to be in the same physical file, and while I am not sure how Evernote Notebooks work, Evernote note links don't care where a note resides. 2-Evernote notes are automatically titled by the first line until the title is edited, messing with this line always broke the wikis I worked with before, not so with Evernote. 3-I think Evernote search indexing would be seriously affected by a switch to wiki style linking, because in Evernote, a link cannot be created until a new note is created and saved, so it seems to me they would have to somehow recreate how Evernote works from scratch. On the other hand, I can think of a least one very good reason for wanting a wiki style link system: I exported all my notes from my usual account, then imported them all to a backup account. Not a single note link was preserved, which kind of begs the question of what is the backup even for! If I used this backup to restore my usual account, it would probably destroy all my note links, which took literally years to create and organize, across several software platforms and devices! Yes, it was a wiki system before I moved all the data it to Evernote . . . .
  21. Does anyone run Evernote regularly in an e-ink device? There are very few that are true Android devices, and of the few that are, the better ones (meaning not extremely slow) tend to be rather expensive ($800 for the Boox). I am not really sure about the Nook hack, specially after my old Nook stopped working. I am currently considering the inkBOOK and other devices in its price range since it would not be not such an expensive investment, and it would be small enough to carry everywhere, but the reviews are mixed, and the issues of syncing and editing are not very clear. Any thoughts on this?
  22. Errm, sorry if I am missing something, but where did the 6.7 beta discussion go? Can't find it anymore.
  23. Paste and Match Style: 154 The Urban Dictionary Mug One side has the word, one side has the definition. Microwave and dishwasher safe. Lotsa space for your liquids. BUY THE MUG This is with the old version, the new version would show both pastes with the graphics and full formatting.
  24. I see. Copy and paste from a web page pastes everything including graphics, tables and formatting, as is, in normal paste, or just text in "paste and match style". Your example contained no graphics, just a little formatting (just font size as far as I can tell), could you confirm with an example full of formatting and graphics? Thanks.
