  1. Staying on the free plan for exactly the reason you described. One other thing I noted. I started the desktop app. A popup came first indicating I could get Personal for 40% off but indicated it was a one time chance and if I do not buy now, I will lose the option. I switched over to Chrome to look at plan features and prices and to help decide I was considering it. Like I said, I like Evernote and I miss it. When I arrived at the page listing plan pricing and features there is an offer there for 40% off for the "Fall Promotion" available for the next 3 days. I understand this is a business and subscriptions are the fuel. But Do Not Lie to Me. The experience definitely turned me off to the subscription campaign and lowered my trust of the company and its marketing practices. It was unfortunate. I am still a fan of Evernote but they are squandering the goodwill they earned from me over a decade because they are unable to recognize that I am not a mindless consumer and I suspect neither are their current or former, most loyal users. I did not elect to re-subscribe. Fast forward to closing the desktop app. Closed it on Windows 10. We know it is still running so go to task bar and right click and close but instead of that experience , right click open the quick not window. I spend less than a minute to find out that right-clicking will only open the Quick Note box which now, at the 3-dot menu, allows you to close Evernote. Why did Evernote make this change requiring more clicks from me to close the app? I do not know, but to me it seems unnecessary, distracting and annoying. A design philosophy that I am seeing again and again with my Evernote experience, that I am unable to understand. Making things harder as opposed to easier and intuitive.
  2. I loved Evernote search and miss it. I miss Evernote for many good reasons. I respect a business model that asks for $. What I lost faith in were basic operating principles not being reliably delivered to me including, reminders. I have free apps that I use that are reliable in delivering reminders I ask of it. Also, Evernote on Android is the only app that if do not explicitly close , the app keeps my screen on. So many basics were unreliable and unexpected week to week that I could not pay as much as was being asked. I opted out of my paid subscription. Since doing so, and lightly using the free version the one thing I can say that Evernote had no problem implementing reliably well, is the repeated reminders, ads and pop up reminding me I know longer have a paid subscription and what features I am missing. If they could have delivered a more reliable user experience for me, kept the price within reason that aligned with my use, I would have gladly considered continuing with a subscription to stand behind the brand and the service I enjoyed for over a decade (albeit ignoring a level of service ticket opening that far exceeds that of any other app in my lifetime). As a customer, I feel undervalued and underattended to by Evernote.
  3. This post is not technically helpful but IMO is worth noting. As a user of my fair share of Android apps that have reminders, there is only one that I consistently both notice and worry the reminder I set will not work and that app is Evernote. The Evernote support team should have a troubleshooting web page for this basic feature.
  4. Simple test. Placed a Evernote reminder to review an Evernote note at 11:00 AM. Placed a a Google Keep Notes on a note as reminder to review the Evernote note at 11:00 AM. I received a Google Keep reminder. Evernote reminder did not work. These were placed at the same time, hours prior to 11:00 AM. Keep Notes Battery Optimization is set to Intelligent Control. Evernote is set to Don't Optimize. (The answer to whether or not I have had messages related to Evernote consuming a lot of battery is Yes.) This is just not acceptable. I joining Evernote Beta testing because I want to help. The most recent invitation I saw was for Recurring Tasks. I need Evernote to concentrate more on simple things like getting note reminders to work prior to adding any new features. ** Note: I sent this description and a link to this discussion to Support.
  5. Reminders again, Not working. Cannot count on placing a reminder in desktop and having it come up in my phone. I have several "free" apps that I can rely on for this. I cannot believe after this amount of time reminders in Evernote cannot be counted upon. I have spent more time with Evernote tech support, testing and providing feedback than all other apps combined. I wish any popular Evernote YouTuber would get the company's attention and press to get this fixed. Any ideas in how to make this happen?? **Note: I did find Battery Optimization for Evernote set to 'Intelligent Control' which I had turned off previously. (?) Testing again tonight. ** Update: Battery Optimization setting appeared to permit Android notification 15 minutes after being set on desktop. App opened on Android and then closed. *** Update 2: Set reminder on desktop with Android app not open. The reminder worked. Makes me think I need to keep an eye on Battery Optimization setting and observe its relation to any notification failures.
  6. I also appear to have version 10.28 Android. I would not be certain support is asking for you to have a version newer than 10.28 at this time.
  7. Some time ago I had this response from Evernote Tech Support: "...On the backend I noticed the way we package your notes for syncing and sharing hadn't updated in a while. Typically this updates automatically but sometimes it can get hung up. I have went ahead and updated this manually for you. In order for this to fully take effect, I am going to recommend you do the following: Log out of Evernote on all of your devices, including the web version, if you are still logged in there. Restart the device. Log back into your Evernote account." I followed up asking about anything else I needed to do or monitor and was not directed specifically. What this means exactly - I am not sure. I wonder if a request to update on their 'backend' the 'the way we package your notes' might help. Whatever it meant, It seemed to significantly improve my reminders operating more consistently. Hope that might be a clue...
  8. Would it be possible and make sense in Settings to be able to select options like: Sync Now (Available) Sync on WiFi only Switch Sync Interval 15 Minutes 30 Minutes 1 hour 4 hours Did I understand correctly that it may be that iOS background sync control and Evernote's desire to keep Evernote coding compatible with both iOS and Android may be the reason that Evernote reminders on Android have gone from being reliable to spotty?
  9. Received a response that seemed to help today so far. Thanks for getting back to us. Our team is already aware of this issue, and are currently working on a fix for it. Again, I apologize for the inconvenience that this issue have caused. In the meantime, I suggest trying to follow these steps and see if it will fix the issue. Sign out from your account. Force close or quit the Evernote app. Restart your device. Launch Evernote and sign back in. 7/30/2021 Turns out the fix was short lived. I am back to neither reminder nor task reminders working on Android making the situation to actually use them as intended truly impossible.
  10. I have not created a new saved search in a while but had a great idea to help me and of course, as is the case lately with Evernote - even when I think it will be a simple thing it does not work. Created search like -> tag:house updated:day-10 It works. Save the search and when I try to use it. Results return like tag:house in a blue oval in results area but the search bar is populated with updated:day-10. Either search should result in results but alas, no results is the save search. So I can type the search in every time and it works but Saved Search shortcut simply. does not. TRULY - UNBELIEVABLE. Also, the appearance that I cannot EDIT a Saved Search , other than what seems to be it's name seems ridiculous but perhaps this is just something else I cannot find out how to and yet another I used to be able too.... item.
  11. Just had my FIRST successful test of an Evernote reminder with app closed on my OnePlus 8 since the update. I changed a Battery Optimization setting that I never changed but - well something must have. Settings > Battery > Battery optimization > Find Evernote > Change to 'Don't Optimize'
  12. I am confused. Is selecting multiple notes and tagging them with this tool: supposed to apply the tag to all the selected notes. I am at the breaking point because I literally, at this point do not know what is supposed to work and what it not. I do not have time to forum scrape every bug I am experiencing. I can wholeheartedly report that no matter how I tried to tag multiple notes: The tool above, dragging to tag, - I had a different result so many times it felt twisted. Sometime the top note would get tagged. Sometime not. But never, all of them. Maybe - could someone just tell me if this IS supposed to work, how so? I am getting to the point that I spend more time noting basic things I could once do that I took for granted that I can no longer do. Writing here and thinking about writing here take more time than I spend doing the actual work and use of the application that I pay for. Help from anywhere would be greatly appreciated. I am told I am on Evernote 10.9.12 is currently the newest version available.
  13. I have the same trouble. I keep checking to see if I have done something wrong. Evernote Reminders on my Android 11, OnePlus 8 were consistent and reliable, I believe up until the big update. Since then I do not get reminders on my android device at all. I have checked settings and they are enabled. Is this issue posted elsewhere and being looked into?
  14. I am finding that Evernote is not worth leaving open. If it sits unused for any period of time it becomes unresponsive. So, to go and try to do a 'quick search' results in some time spent thinking I am clicking the wrong, thing or doing something wrong, realizing it is locked up again, closing the app, restarting the app, realizing I forgot what I wanted to search for, backing out of the app to get where I was, remembering the search and then returning to do the search which, so far despite my trying to be patient and get used to the new Evernote, I am finding disappointing compared to the Windows program I once had. I like how as I added search terms I could watch my search results narrow more and more until BAM I found what I wanted. It was like having a friend whittling down the pile of data I have, live, then and there with me. It was satisfying. This search experience so far is no where near as rewarding to me. I miss the Evernote I once had on my PC. Oh, and to get back to the the point about needing to restart the app incessantly, that just seems plain old ridiculous. Sorry to vent but frankly, I am shocked that this is where this app is at all things considered and my use cases that I enjoyed are largely gone.
  15. The experience I am having is that I cannot click to sort by 'REMINDER TIME'. I almost feel like I must be missing something. I feel that way because the fact that I can add the column to the view should permit a sort by the value. Am I missing something or is this software now missing what to me was a elemental use when I created saved searches and used that to sort chronologically? This can't be where this is going to be left, right? This can't be something that is not obviously an basic expectation. It is hard to think that I am writing about this in a forum feeling guilty about not reading every post. I think I was able to sort a column to with a click in a file explorer GUI about 25 years ago. Such a basic expectation not implemented on release seems quite disappointing on subscription software/service. Is iit true that I lost this feature because of iOS? If so, just - WOW!
