  1. Reading your post, I wonder what you want to say - and I hope the next rainy sunday when you can extend that list is a long time down the road. To send ideas directly to EN, use the feedback function. To find ideas of how to handle the font sizes, search the forum.
  2. Actually I am not sure about this: There have been NEW devices even be sold in 2021 that are not able to upgrade to Win11. Given the discussion about „planned obsolescence“ (a criminal offense for example in France today), I don‘t think Microsoft will pull the plug from Win10 in 2024 or 2025 already.
  3. 1) EN is not a foto editor. And it must not duplicate abilities that already exist in another app, be it Scannable or else. 2) The editing options in camera roll are far superior to Scannable. Why would you want to bring a foto from the better editor to a worse one ? Edit in fotos, then bring it to EN, by sharing or by the blue + from EN.
  4. There is a very simple answer to the observation / question posted: In Windows, when you close an app (by the X or by the menu „Close“ command), it does not necessarily stop the app altogether. It just stops it being active in the foreground. It is normal that EN uses a number of processes, this is by design. And when you leave EN running in the background, the processes continue. This means immediate startup of the app when activated. To stop all processes in one simple step, use the „quit“ menu command, or simply the shortcut strg/ctrl - Q. Problem solved …
  5. No - it is not a bug, it is a feature. At least EN has up to now treated it like this. First comment: It can’t be an issue since 2018, because the checklist feature was only introduced in September 2020, with the first release of a v10-client. 2nd comment: The lists in the new editor are meant to be used individually: You have bullets, XOR numbers XOR checklists. They don’t easily mix. And checkboxes are no longer a list element, they are only text formatting elements. 3rd comment: To save a checkbox at the beginning of a line from autoconversion, type a space in front of it.
  6. This IP-Address is no normal public one. The address space 127.0.0.1 is very specific - it is reserved for the localhost address. It can not be reached in the traditional meaning of the word. You find a detailed description here: https://www.purevpn.com/blog/what-is-127-0-0-1/ So it just enforces to connect to the localhost address - makes sense if your companies network is build that way.
  7. This has been an idea that has been popping up from time to time. Look at the Plus plan - probably similar to what you have in mind. Further think about the fact that each plan causes basic cost of administration, pretty similar between the different levels. I think Plus fees more or less just covered the admin share. It was discontinued … Personal will cost the equivalent of a „large to go“ per month if subscribed yearly. If you can’t justify this, the advantage for you seems very small, and you don’t need a subscription. I don’t think (without inside knowledge) we will see a lower priced plan than Personal ever again.
  8. Good reference - although it works with notes, not tasks. The selection possibilities are limited. But better 80% than waiting.
  9. Thanks for coming back. When on Personal, you could install the legacy client. It allows to select more notes, thousands of them. https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/360052560314-Install-an-older-version-of-Evernote It will install side by side with your existing v10 install. However it counts as an additional device ! So make sure before the month ends to log out of it. Then go in your working client to account, tab devices, and unsync the legacy client. Make sure you unsync the right one, not the working one. Then you can uninstall legacy. Use an uninstaller app, like Revo Uninstaller, because the Windows uninstall will leave the database on your drive. There is a way to lift the 50 notes limit on v10 as well. But I am not sure on Windows, did it on a Mac.
  10. That picture must be from a very old client - not even legacy shows notebooks in this view, that tries to mimic physical paper notebooks. I know something similar from GoodNotes 5, and other note taking apps have it as well. In EN v10 you can view your notes as cards, instead of a list. What is not possible compared to legacy is to show the full page with miniature notes cards, skipping the right panel (that usually holds the selected note) to show cards as well.
  11. No idea for Windows legacy. In Mac legacy, it does NOT work. Adding -notebook:mynotebook does not result in zero, but it results in a way too small number of hits. But it does work in EN v10.
  12. About selling user data: I run 2 accounts, 1 subscription, 1 Free, with a different login. I have no hint at all that any of my access activity or logins leaked anywhere. I doubt EN is taking anything from the login or app use, and utilizes it for anything else than it’s own use to measure and improve the app. It may be they use services by Google and others, but (probably) not to harvest no sell user data.
  13. What got blocked ? This is taken from my Pi-Holes log, just now, after opening the EN client. Everything marked in red was blocked when I called the EN client on my iPad, the green calls went through. If I find something is damaging an app function, I can unblock it by whitelisting - or I can blacklist it. If I need more complex rules, I can define a regex term.
  14. AFAIK EN is not selling user data anywhere. They use it to optimize their own services, which is fine for me. If your tracking protection is not granular enough, it is a choice you make, either way. Personally I am running a Pi-Hole that covers my whole home network. So as long as I am using my WiFi, no tracking. And no negative effects concerning EN use, as far as I can tell. And for the rest …
  15. Then don’t block it … EN knows anyhow you use the app, because you need to be logged in, and it causes server traffic. When they are tracking app performance, fine with me. But an interesting observation anyhow.
  16. If you read through the thread, you easily find out that posting here will not change anything. The forum is user2user. Use the feedback function of the clients, or issue a support ticket.
  17. Currently a task not completed is not checked, and a completed task is checked. This is simple and needs no explanation. If you need a closer follow up of a project, a simple list will not do. Use another tool for this, for example a KANBAN board that allows to set up workflow columns, and move the jobs through the columns. You can set up the categories as you need them for your project - there are projects where for example jobs need to be counterchecked before they can be declared „Done“. There is from my experience no „standard“ that could be implemented into a general purpose software like EN, hard coded into the editor. If you want to do this level of project control by a list, think about which part of a list item is still pending Then close the initial position and open a new one with just the remaining share of the original job.
  18. Just grab the Evernote folder on a desktop client, and save it using any backup software. Mac users running TimeMachine have the benefit that the folder will save with all the other data automatically. On Windows I use Acronis, and have set up a separate backup job that is running a daily backup of the EN folder, holding a number of versions. It saves to my NAS. When you want to access it, you need to exchange the existing folder (rename it while the app is shut down, to be able to go back to it after accessing your backup) by the one containing the backup data. You open it with your EN client, that must have been logged in before you last closed it down. Go offline before you do this operation, because otherwise you will sync the old(er) backup data with the cloud server. Another option is to run a full offline download to a mobile device - it will contain all notes plus the attached documents. You need a mobile device that has enough flash memory to hold your data. You can work offline on this copy, even when the EN server may not be available.
  19. The web client updates automatically, the user can’t enforce it. EN rolls out updates in waves, so not every user gets updated at the same time. For the installed clients it is possible to get around this by downloading from the EN website - there it is always the latest version. But not so for the web client - sometimes it takes some days until it finally shows the ultimate edition.
  20. Just to mention it from the initial posting: I would not touch the bad, bad internet by a computer running Windows 7. It is an easy target for too many mishaps that are waiting in the dark corners of our WW-playground out there. By principle this can’t be circumvented by security software - it is like a house build on quicksand, where fixing the roof will not make it any safer. From my experience, a computer that can run Win7 is able to run Win10 as well. And with the Windows license key installing Win10 is still possible, AFAIK without cost.
  21. It may be that your local database has received, but not digested a corrupted note or attachment. This can happen, and it eventually blocks the syncing process. You can try this: Go to File > Sign Out [name] from the menu bar. Select the "Remove my Evernote data from this device" option, then click Sign out. Restart your computer. Sign back in to Evernote If you decide to uninstall, use an uninstaller app, not the Windows uninstall option. It will not remove data files from the drive. Next time you install, the corrupted content is still there. A good uninstaller from other forum posts seem to be Revo Uninstaller (I am on a Mac).
  22. Since there are a lot of GTD implementations for EN dating before tasks were even available, I think it is not necessary to have a tagging for tasks to apply the GTD logic. However I agree it would make the use of the tasks feature better under GTD conditions. Currently the only way to tag tasks 1:1 is to have 1 task per note, and tag the note.
  23. I second the idea the problem is in the tag string. Just tried with "ticket" as search string, followed by -notebook:"@ 📥 Inbox". I have to put the quotation marks, because I have decorated my notebooks with these icons. It finds nearly 300 notes when I only search for the "ticket", and less than 200 when I add the "-notebook" term. Once the -notebook is added all the notes that are still in my inbox won't show in the search any more. If I try and take the "-" away, it finds only notes in the inbox with the "ticket" term. The notes count of the 3 searches add up exactly: -notebook + notebook = total notes The implementation looks sound to me, and is working in v10.38 Mac direct download.
  24. And then the next months the forum is full of "this does not work, that is a bug", answered by "what is your update status". Ooooops Keeping software up to date is not an "opt out" thing. If you start EN in the morning (if you decide to close it for the night), you usually get the update notification then. Run it, and you are good to go.
  25. Make the note size show in the middle panel. Right click on the column header, set check mark for "size". Works both for the normal view, and for the search results view as well. What does not work is sorting by size - but usually a sort by date will bring the latest e-mail from a thread to the top, or close to it.
