I compared the price quoted for essentials for one year at about $200/3TB. That is close to the price I paid for Professional last year. I've been using Evernote since 2010 and now my choice is to continue. Earlier this year, I played with Notion. Too structured and not so intuitive. I still love Evernote. I have so many intra-note links (I appreciate the recent Backlink feature to point to "parent" notes) I guess I worry a bit about migrating this giant interconnected network of notes to another tool. -- John

My thanks as well. Truth is, I really like the bullet dragging on the Windows app. It's how I kind of re-order my priorities. I just wish a similar thing were possible with the iOS app where I actually spend most of my time. Best Regards.

I’m not getting it. If you want to move bullets around in the Windows application, what’s the problem with just clicking on the little “handle” (4 dots) to the left of the bullet and dragging it up and down with the “hand” cursor. Is the desired operation more complex than this?

The bullet dragging seems to work on Windows app, but I haven’t found anything like this on iOS App

There is an iOS shortcut posted here that will convert the web shortcut to an internal shortcut: https://rthr.me/2020/10/evernote-internal-links/ thanks @Mike304 This shortcut you pointed to works great. here’s my rough workflow to use it: - in destination note in iOS V10+, do “Copy Internal Link” from the note drop-down three dots Menu. - move to note where link is desired. Paste - this creates a link to the destination note using the note Title as text. It also places the cursor at the end of the new link, so the Edit Link function is available. - now I say “Hey Siri, Convert Evernote Link” - invoking the Shortcut at the link you provided. - then I click to edit the link. I place the cursor at the end of the “bad” link. - I do Select All and then Paste and then Apply the change to the link. Now the link behaves properly on iOS and Windows V10 Evernote, and presumably MacOS as well. It gets pretty automatic after a while. Best, —John

Sorry, I forgot to mention, I was having so much trouble with the Windows App version of Evernote 10, I have switched to using the Web version of Evernote 10 in the Chrome browser. I tried right clicking on an app link in the main browser window and asking it to open in a new tab, and this does not seem to work. The internal/app links have for format "evernote://..." and I believe they provide the best, consistent, experience across the Windows App, browser App, and iOS App platforms. -- John

App Links are designed to open in the current window. This puts their behavior in line with that of an Internal Link on the iOS platform. I would suggest using a Web Link to get the behavior you desire. -- John

Thanks Guys, I guess I've just adjusted my workflow to do without the Import Folder, but if Windows App V10 is working pretty well, maybe I'll give it another try In general, however, I'm a happy camper using V10. I'm pretty impressed with Evernote pulling off a complete full-stack technology migration and there's been, for me, no reason to go back to Legacy. I moved my Windows machine to V10 pretty quickly after the upgrade to the iOS version. I am enjoying the consistent UI across platforms. Best, -- John

The puzzling thing is that the evernote:// links work just fine in the iOS App. It seems like they should be the standard for any kind of “Internal Link”. I don’t have access to a Mac or the MacOS App to know the behavior on that platform.

I jump between Evernote 10 on iOS and Evernote 10 on Windows. It seems that the "Copy Internal Link" function on iOS has a nasty bug. It generates an https:// link rather than an evernote:// link. The difference is only visible when you follow the link on Windows. The links created on iOS open in a new browser window rather than in the Application Context you are using (Desktop App or Browser). Actually right now on Evernote running in Chrome on Windows 10, the link opens a new tab which seems to sit there saying "loading... evernote.com" for a long time. Broken. Having these links have a consistent behavior across platforms is important. This issue is so important to me that I have developed a bit of a work-around I can use when pasting Internal Links on iOS I have installed Pythonista and have written a small program to modify the contents of the clipboard, so pasting an Internal Link now goes as follows: (all the info to create a working evernote:// App Link is contained in the https:// "Internal Link". It just needs to be parsed apart and reformatted.) On the destination note, do the Copy Internal Link function as normal Go to the Note where you want the link placed Do a Paste - This creates an Internal Link of the https:// variety, pasting in a link with the text being the Title of the destination note The above is just normal operation Change to the iOS Pythonista-Supplied Keyboard, Click a button configured to run my little program This will modify the contents of the clipboard to an evernote:// link Change back to the standard keyboard Clink the pencil to edit the link you are sitting at use Select All on the https:// link Hit Paste - replacing the https:// link with the new evernote:// link Hit Apply Now when this link is followed either in Evernote iOS or in Evernote Windows/Browser, the proper App Link behavior occurs. The crude Python Program is attached. I've removed some stuff I think is specific to my account and replaced with [#thingName] -- John RedactedEvernoteInternalLink.py

Just as an aside: I guess I'm not a big keyboard shortcut guy, because I think that's most of what I'm missing. I struggled for a while with the v10 Windows App but have recently switched to running Evernote in one of my Chrome Tabs. The performance seems good and the hassle of periodically having to restart the Windows App by killing all its behind the scenes Processes (in Task Manager) is a thing of the past. Remind me again, please. What are the real benefits of the Windows App? Maybe someday the perpetually "coming soon" Import Folder will appear there? In the meantime, the web app seems well maintained by Evernote.

I agree this is essential functionality, until it comes back I have been printing notes to PDF as a sort-of work around. More work, I realize, but otherwise I’m having a pretty positive experience with v 10 on Windows and iOS. Best, —John

I believe you are using the incorrect keyboard shortcut for copying an internal link. I believe it’s Alt-Cntr-L.

Good start with the Tasks implementation! Now we can go wild... Currently, I do a sort of Kanban by myself by having one note per task, setting Reminders, and storing all these Task/Notes in a single notebook. I can see that now that we have the Tasks feature, it would be great if we could view the Tasks in a visual layout with Columns like Future, Due This Week, Due Today, Past Due, Done or something similar, maybe columns could be user defined with a user selectable filter and sort criteria. For my use of Kanban, generally the Task Name is just the header. When I was using LeanKit Kanban and Evernote together, I would place a Link to a corresponding Evernote Note in each Kanban Item (Card). I would use Evernote to save progress reports and reference data or even a Checklist of items or sub-tasks needed to complete a Kanban Item (Card). I would also use Evernote to save a kind of history or running log for recurring Cards. I have really liked the merging of my Kanban system into Evernote and all I miss at this point is the visual layout with drag and drop. I've tried the Kanbanote product and find that it is very limited by screen size and the inability to scroll the visual view. A nice feature of Leankit Kanban is the ability to drag and drop within a column to control order. In my Evernote system, I use Reminder Time to control the order Today's items show up at the top of my Kanban Item Notebook. The ability to over-ride the Time sort, especially in the "Today" or "Doing" column would be a nice feature for a Kanban view in Evernote Tasks. Is there anyone else thinking along these lines? --John

Re: v10 speed enhancement via defeating the CFG protection. Please note, there is a trade-off between protection and performance in the work-around. It would be mitigated a bit if we were able to disable this protection just for Evernote only, but I didn’t see Evernote in the list of selectable apps. The real fix, I think, is for Evernote to program in such a way that this protection mechanism is not triggered, if this is possible.

If I create an "Internal Link" on iOS, it does not come out in the format expected by the Windows App for internal links. Please add logic to the Windows App so if I click on an internal link created in iOS the note opens in the App and not in a new Browser window. This is a productivity killer for those of us who use lots of internal hyper-linking. This or make the iOS App generate genuine Internal Links of the format "evernote:///..." And as always, keep working on stability and speed of the windows App. I found a work around in Windows by turning off certain protections in Windows Defender. This made the Windows App probably run 2x, but it's not fast enough still. Thanks for a great product that has been a big part of my life since 2010. -- John

I did create a bit of a work-around. I used the free add-in for Chrome (and Firefox) called “Requestly.io” to have the URL format re-directed to the “evernote:///“ format early in opening in chrome. The only pain here is the browser prompts to be sure I want to redirect to the Desktop App. It’s an additional click which I can’t seem to get. Message me to get. The pop-up dialog is supposed to have a box you can check if you'd like to avoid future warnings, but I never see the box, despite trying some registry edits I found via Google. Still not addressed in iOS 10.8.2 first thing I tested! search for “requestly.io” to find a sort of work-around I have documented in another thread on this subject.

Hyperlinking: Creating a new note based on some selected text and create a link to it in it's place. This set of mostly keyboard shortcuts works for me on Windows App V10.9.10 Thanks to Frank.dg above for most of this. Select text Ctrl-C-N (Copy Highlighted Text, Create New note, Cursor in body of New note) [Up Arrow] (Move to Title), Ctrl-V (Paste - Note Title is Pasted in) - (I seem to recall an option to begin editing in the Title of a New note. Classic version, I think.) Copy new (internal) note link Ctrl+Alt-L Return to original note Alt-[Back Arrow] Select original text Ctrl-V (Paste - Replacing text with Hyperlink) I would love for this to be a one keyboard shortcut thing! It seems like an obvious operation to automate for anyone who's worked with a wiki. -- John

Hello Folks, I have found that the "internal links" i create and paste into another note on Evernote V10 for iOS really create URL style links. So when I attempt to follow the link on Windows V10 the destination note will open in the web browser version of Evernote. This is not desirable. Links between notes should be quick and behave the same between platforms. If I create the "internal link" on Windows V10 Evernote, rather than create a "web link", then I get the behavior I'm used to, across platforms. There is an extra click required to tell the Chrome browser on iOS to open the link in Evernote, if the Internal link is embedded in a non-Evernote application (e.g. Leankit Kanban"), but this is pretty painless. So, the workflow I've fallen into, is to create notes on all platforms, but to do my note linking only on Evernote V10 for Windows where it seems I can create a non-url style link using the "internal link" functionality and paste this into another note or application. This is not ideal, as I would like to be able to link notes wherever I am, not just while working on my Windows platform. In the meantime, is there some kind of add-in for Chrome on the Windows platform that would somehow re-direct a URL style link in Chrome to open in the Windows V10 Evernote application instead?? This is not a great work-around as it would cause these URL-style "internal links" to proliferate. -- John
