  1. Thank you @DStevens. I appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback. We're actively investigating the issue and looking into how we can best solve it for our users, both in the short-term and long-term. Currently, users can generally get around the problem by either quitting and restarting the app, or signing out and in. Worst case scenario, a reinstall seems to solve the problem, but that should hopefully not be necessary.

  2. Thanks @PDrew. Your feedback was helpful. It appears to be an issue with the Tasks walkthrough when users have their navigation collapsed to just show icons. This is causing the walkthrough to stop while that menu is open, causing it to not be closable. Either quitting the app or signing out and in should hopefully solve the issue for most users. But we're looking to see if we can prevent other users from having the issue in the meantime while we make the right fix in the code.

  3. @Gregory Miller @DStevens I'm trying to get to the bottom of this issue.

Can you please answer a few questions for me?

    1. What platform you are using?
    2. Was your navigation bar collapsed to just show icons? That's the only way I have been able to reproduce this so far.
    3. Did this happen right after you had the Tasks on-boarding experience?
    4. If you restart your app, does the problem go away?
  4. @lhodges26 @PDrew Can you please answer a few questions for me?

    1. What platform you are using? This seems to be occurring only on Windows, from what we've seen
    2. Was your navigation bar collapsed to just show icons? That's the only way I have been able to reproduce this so far.
    3. Did this happen right after you had the Tasks on-boarding experience?
    4. If you restart your app, does the problem go away?

Answering the questions will help me with reproducing and prioritizing the issue. Thank you!

The problem is that I have a ton of task notes and the tutorial changed my default note setting, so I had to manually find the correct note and change the setting back.

This sounds like a bug, though. It should have just brought up your existing default task note, not made a new one and changed it.

Basically, the Android client treated me as though I had never used the Tasks private beta on the Windows client prior

The usage of Tasks is different between desktop and mobile, so they have different walkthroughs. Currently the information on whether a user has seen the Tasks walkthrough is on a per-user, per-device basis. I can bring this up as something to re-evaluate, but some other less tech-savvy users may find the mobile walkthrough beneficial even if they've seen the desktop one.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I can't check to see if this is the case on mobile as Tasks early access hasn't rolled out to Android clients connected to my account, which in turn also hinders my productivity somewhat as I have to be on one of my desktop OS devices to even be able to see the list.

    Just a couple notes:

    1. The URL linking in mobile hasn't been implemented yet. It's coming soon and will work like desktop
    2. Rollout of Android (and all platforms, actually) is gradual. You should hopefully get updated within the next 1-2 weeks I'd expect.

  8. Oops, just saw you posted this before the recent app release. Please let me know if you are still having issues with the latest iOS app.

  9. Are you getting stuck on the screen that talks about the new task feature? If so, there's an issue with the rendering of text on the page that is resulting in pushing the button to continue off the screen for smaller device sizes. Can you please try going to Settings -> Display & Brightness -> Text Size. Please move the slider to the left, then return to Evernote. That should shrink the text enough to reveal the button. Once you've clicked the button, you can revert the Text Size to your previous setting. We will have a fix for this in the next version we push. Sorry for the inconvenience.

iOS TestFlight is still 10.10. Should I update to production build (10.11?) or will that TestFlight build continue to be updated and stay on a "beta track", if you will?

Since the TestFlight app is a separate app, it won't get an update to the production version. You should switch to using the main App Store build (10.11).

Hi - How do I LEAVE / DISABLE the early access on Tasks please? I accidentally said yes and now cannot see the option to disable this. I am on the MacOS client - Thank you

The Tasks functionality is built into the app and isn't anything you can leave or disable. Do you have a concern with it being there?

How do I close the splash screen about the new task feature when opening the iOS app? iPhone 7 with latest release.

For others who might have a similar problem: If you have accessibility features enabled, specifically a larger text size, you may get stuck on the Tasks introduction screen, unable to proceed. Please temporarily disable the accessibility (i.e. reduce text size) and go back to the Evernote app. You should hopefully be able to then see the button to take the tour of the Tasks feature. You can re-enable the accessibility afterwards.

We are working to fix this issue, but the above is how to work around the problem for now. I apologize for the inconvenience.

    • iOS widget or an entry to the icon drop down menu, to be able to drop a quick reminder without a need to ramp up the app
    • Apple Watch app, with the possibility of set a quick note / quick reminder gadget as complication on the watch face

We received a number of requests during beta for quick capture of tasks. I've added your request for Apple Watch support to our document tracking feedback.

That's why the ability to set the order of the areas (Home, Shortcuts, Tasks, Notes, Notesbooks, Tags, Shared, etc.) would be a huge step forward in Evernote (because some users also want to have, let’s say, 'Tags' displayed above 'Shortcuts', for example...).

I passed this feedback on to the client team. One suggestion might be to use the minimal icon view (assuming you are talking about desktop). That lets you get a pop-out of your shortcuts, but still see all the icons. On mobile, that's not an option, unfortunately. Another option would be to always collapse your shortcuts nav bar, but then I suppose that's an extra click to uncollapse.

Will it be possible to have notes area to paste web link or note link?

We received quite a few requests for this as well. We're already exploring better ways to include links (right now if your title has a URL in it, we'll make that clickable). We will also be looking at whether to include text in a task, but with the way Tasks is designed, the task should be living in a note which would contain the context for the task. So a notes field, if included, would likely be very simple. But it's on our radar to look into.

  15. FWIW, we know the cause. It's more about deciding the right fix. I think "auto-healing" on the server side by cleaning up the bad data when we encounter it is the right solution. We have a case of duplicate data ending up in the system where duplicates shouldn't be allowed. So I think a secondary thing to do is also close the hole that is allowing the duplicates to enter the system.
