humans are creatures of habit to delete a note = think, eyeball find delete key among other keyboard keys, high chance of press wrong key, movement waste as hand have to stretch further, after u delete a note, the next note (note panel are not displayed), etc I wanted to suggest the keyboard shortcut for move note to trash bin but I realised there's higher risk of trashing the wrong note. My workaround to eliminate the delete key and to increase productivity is to use the keyboard shortcut keys ALT + SHIFT + M to move note a uniquely titled notebook e.g. all your notebooks are based on alphabetical english words, thus create a notebook titled "5" then move all your notes you want to trash to notebook 5 which you can later once every 6 months or a year move all trash notes in notebook 5 to the bin to expunge. The key is that after you "move" your deleted note, Evernote Windows app will auto jump the selection to the next note for you to organise eliminating several micro steps per the usual delete key way.

In Evernote Windows, when user selects multiple notes via note list, why aren't those app functions top first level menu greyed out? The second level sub-menu is greyed out but the first level menu isn't. If the subcommands don't work, then everything to the first level menu should be greyed out e.g. "Format" and others. Please test all. create a new note in your "unsorted" notebook titled "- RAW". add note "RAW" as an android widget shortcut to your phone. Instead of creating multiple new notes, just open the widget shortcut raw note and append all your notes to that single note Is there a better and quicker way to organise your notes?

Why not make a smartwatch Evernote note taking app? User tap watch widget to activate function "record new note", user use human voice to speak to smartwatch's microphone. Smartwatch attach voice as voice memo file and auto transcribe voice into digital text thus both voice file and digital text saved as a single note. User tap save on watch. A more acceptable way is to simply use earbuds by itself to circumvent the smartwatch. Use Google assistant. Make a note. Speak to earbuds. Earbuds send voice to phone to attach as voice file n phone auto transcribed voice file into digital text. When user say save note. It saves. Once home, user use computer to edit digital text in note that are not transcribed properly. A good note app would be one intelligent where user click on each transcribed word, the also saved voice file will auto jump to the timestamp of the clicked word and auto play the word.

There is an Evernote bug when user CTRL + ALT + N in another app e.g. Chrome, the new note window didn't appear in the foreground in my newly reformatted Windows 10. The new note window just blinked orange in the taskbar. Is this an everybody issue or is it just my Evernote hacked? P.s. my favourite song is Little Lies by Fleetwood Mac, what's your favourite song?

The issue with Evernote EN is that the notebooks cannot open in a window by itself which results in additional steps in sorting notes in certain circumstances. One way that I do is that create individual notes titled "1. XYZ" or "2. ABC" = Notebook names in the "Unsorted" notebook. In a sense, the notes are temporary by notebooks where the user can open selected multiple notes to right click and open at one go. Then you can quickly copy and paste the unorganised information into the respective temporary notes quickly to eliminate latency. You can quickly switch to the different temp notes by looking at the opened window titles in the Windows 10 taskbar. What is a better way than this having actually used a timer to measure the different methods?

The good thing about "sync everyday" in Evernote settings, is that if you have data loss in your desktop client and you have not sync after your data loss, you can go to your Evernote web version to recover the the note that have not been corrupted or data loss "hopefully" That is if you have discovered this early. What do you think?

Hi, is there a way to sort notebooks based on other criterias apart from just alphabetically. Sorting Alphabetically loses its usefulness when you have hundreds of notebooks. How about a way to auto sort notebooks in the left panel by "last accessed sorted to the top of the list" or sorted by "total number of notes in the notebook or stack" Reverse sort applies

How to add note to Evernote quickly without opening EN
jianfa.tsai replied to jianfa.tsai's topic in Productivity
helpful - thank you -
Instead of creating a new note in Evernote just type anywhere in the current window even in the chrome address bar (keyboard shortcut) >> CTRL + A to select all text >> right click and share selection to evernote.. This will eliminate need to open Evernote app, create new note, multiple steps etc.

Instead of using search or eyeballing the long list of notebooks in the notebook list. Many looking at physical keyboard keys, typing keyboard shortcuts, typing keywords, thinking many times, eyeballing many times, etc Most people focus on 5 to 10 notebooks at one point in their life or work. In notebook "unsorted" of your notes holding bin, create e.g. 5 notes titled e.g. "- XYZ" beginning with the - symbol key so when you sort the "unsorted" notebook all notes beginning with " - " will be sorted to the top. Then you can simply merge all your individual unsorted notes into one note, use your mouse pointer movement + cut + paste to sort your notes from the merged raw note into the the other notebooks temp holding bin notes titled "- XYZ" etc Then cut the content from temporary note "- XYZ" to the notebooks, but don't delete the note " - XYZ " What are the pros and cons?

I use CTRL + Q to activate the search function. If you measure the time to use keyboard shortcuts and type the keyboards and the minute steps like thinking and eyeball searching etc, using the mouse to click the shortcuts will be useful for less than 5 shortcuts. Anything more you waste time and lose the benefits from searching through the shortcut list. On the other hand, this brings to mind, why not a keyboard shortcut similar to chrome keyboard shortcut to access tabs by e.g. modifier key + 1 = shortcut 1 OR modifier key + 2 = shortcut 2 etc?

Thank you for the reply. Since the parent menu cannot be grey. Why are some first level child menu (see screenshot) e.g. "Font" child menu greyed and other child menus e.g. Paragraph and Style not greyed? It is technically feasible for the child menu Font to be greyed thus why not grey all other first level child menu where the sub commands doesn't work?
