  1. But Evernote chat is always "down" - i.e., they have less than no interest in interacting with their paying customers. I have a lot of notes, and some combine text and jpg's. I guess 3 options are OneNote, Joplin and Notion; I'll have to view tutorials and see how to transfer. I, too, have been a paying user for over 15 years.
  2. Why is it that a feature that worked just fine on a previous version just can't be fixed in the current one? Users are forced to try to use inconvenient workarounds to compensate for less functionality in a program for which we're being told to pay more. So let me get this straight: 1. We can no longer cut and then paste elsewhere, either a photo or selected text from an Evernote note. 2. From time to time, all notes, from one or several notebooks, suddenly go blank. "Luckily" the notes are not lost, and can be retrieved by closing Evernote, closing all Evernote-related processes using Windows Task Manager, then clicking the Evernote icon once or twice in the taskbar, then right-clicking the icon in the taskbar and then left-clicking open. Such a nice workaround. 3. From time to time, but way too often, Evernote displays a "cannot load" error message, forcing restart, even though memory usage is 30% and processor usage is 6-10%. 4. And no fixes from Evernote tech support or management - threads continue for years. Every so often, an "official" Evernote person says "problem fixed" - that note only to be followed by one that says "no it's not."
  3. I find it truly amazing that a thread for the same problem continues for 2 years without resolution. There's the occasional note from Evernote to the effect of "we're aware of the problem" but no fix. They recommend updating, but I'm on the latest iteration and it's still a problem. It seems to start when I change notebooks, and the only solution I've found that works "sometimes" is to exit Evernote, then go to windows task manager, and stop all of the 8 processes associated with Evernote. Then I can restart evernote, though I have to click it in the taskbar a couple of time to get it to restart. This program is a dog (apologies to those of the canine persuasion, since Canis familiaris is loyal, while Evernote is not). It really looks like a forum such as this is provided so that users can see that others are having the same problem, over and over and over again. No fixes ever, so far as I can see. Any suggestions for a substitute app that actually works, to which I can port something like 14000 notes in 27 notebooks?
  4. Dear gazumped - What makes you think the people at Evernote actually look at these exchanges. Looks like the problem has been around for more than two years, and not only has it not been fixed, but there's no indication to the effect of "Hear you; we're working on it" from the company. Evernote seems to have absolute contempt for its users. If they offered even fee-per-use-based tech support they might actually have to interact with customers, and address longstanding problems. I'm exploring other software solutions since the Evernote people have no interest in addressing problems or improving their product.
  5. I've only learned a couple of things on this forum: 1. There have been major problems with technical support lack of response for a couple of years. 2. EverNote still doesn't care. I have been a premium subscriber for 10 years, and I can't get any sort of response. My program became unusable for a week, and then note contents could only be viewed if I logged off and then logged on again (this wonderful info from the user group). 3. The Support phone number does not work. Read it, and tried it anyway. Indeed, there is no phone support. 4. Chat support does not work, even during the supposed hours of operation. So at this point, EverNote loses (fails to save) the occasional note, loses the ability to display note contents, has lost the ability to copy jpg files from notes for use in PowerPoint etc, and any attempt to search yields a come-on to upgrade further for an "even better" version of the currently non-functional search function. I plan to switch to a program that actually offers support, and non-glitchy function. I just hope they don't go out of business, leaving me with 5GB of unretrievable data before I can port it.
  6. It looks like no matter where you search on the users forum, comments vary between "I hate it" and "I hate it a lot." There is essentially nothing in the way of tech support. Their approach, which seems to be one of contempt for its large cadre of paid users, is unacceptable. Essentially, it's "Your response has been recorded" (meaning it's recorded, but we'll ignore it). We're welcome to come to this forum and vent, which may, just perhaps, lower blood pressure, but the company seems to have no interest in retaining loyal, long-term users. I'm in the process of porting all my notes to OneNote. Micro$oft has been amazingly helpful with tech support, even when I don't have a paid MSOffice account. OneNote is free. Yes, you have to learn it, but why pay for dysfunctional software. For all we know, they may be planning to make it worse. Absolutely no indication that they're listening to users, or what, if any changes or remedies may be available down the road, or when. This is nuts. My subscription ends mid-Feb 2020; it things don't turn around, I'm outa here, like so many of my colleagues.
  7. If you google "Evernote Problems" it will be quite apparent that this company is not long for this world. They've essentially dropped any efforts for customer support, and I suspect they may have let go the people who might have been motivated and skilled enough to undo the complete mess they've made of their latest update. Just so you know, (at least until EverNote inactivates export to hold us hostage) you can quite painlessly export all your folders to your hard drive, and then import them to other programs. I chose to use the (completely free!) OneNote, from much-derided Micro$oft. Just be sure you have a OneDrive account (which is where your imported files will live) linked to your current microsoft account. I had some initial trouble, but then MS support (there are actually human beings who work at Microsoft who help people) was able to identify the problem, fix it, and now I've transferred all my folders there. The platform is a little different, but with a minimal learning curve, works better than the latest (maybe last?) iteration of EverNote. I've subscribed for a decade, and am a bit nostalgic, but the current problem, with people kvetching on the forum, but with no power to fix things, is the antidote. I would ask current forum participants: What would/will you do if EverNote suddenly disappears and your files are gone forever? BTW, to import into OneNote, there's a free app called "StartOneNoteImporter.exe. At about 1 note/sec, and thousands (5.4 GB) of notes, be prepared, wherever you go, to spend some time. You import 1 folder at a time. I have checked with some platforms, possibly better than OneNote, but they don't have an auto-import feature. Best wishes and condolences to all. I'm outta here.

  9. I'll certainly look into it. It's amazing to have a paid subscription (not a corporate one, since I'm a semi-retired academic) and no access to any EverNote tech support. Their latest "update" trashed a number of features. I have used it to store jpg files to incorporate into my lectures, but now there's no longer a cut & paste option. The search function has also been trashed. You can't search within a notebook (you're forced to search all notebooks) but even then, it won't search, even the titles, never mind content. Thanks Chronistin for the tip on Notes. There are many, many options -- and I'll bet they even work! I've been looking at OneNote. I don't need a huge menu of functonality, just the ability to store, search, retrieve, while using maybe a dozen notebooks. Anybody know how to cancel an account; I think I still have 6 or 8 months left on my subscription, and then I'm outta here. Best wishes to all. Looks like we all tried, but EverNote failed us.
  10. So how do I get to the discussion on the new, "non-improved" version? If the bugs are not fixed, I'll be porting my data to another platform and cancelling my now-useless subscription
  11. I've run into exactly the same problem. It seems to have started with the last update. You can't search (on a Windows 10 desktop or Windows 10 laptop, both 64-bit). In addition, it's very, very slow to add notes. Something seems to have gone drastically wrong with this update. Anybody know if Evernote plans to address these issues? If not, I for one, will need to switch platforms. OneNote reportedly has an import feature that works. Re: dialogue above - The program worked perfectly well until the last update. Logic would dictate that if the software is now malfunctioning on several devices, the fault is with the software. Get with it Evernote!
