  1. And when this doesn’t work after several attempts?

I opened multiple tickets with support, providing logs, Evernote version numbers, iOS and iPadOS version numbers, history and description of this problem, and each time support emailed me back saying that I should check for updates and that I was welcome to submit a log if it continued and then closed the ticket as resolved. This is a problem that I have posted about in these forums on and off for the last year, and when it has come up for me it has affected all of my apple devices at once, it has never been device specific, but support has very clearly not even read the tickets that I’ve put in before they just closed them all as resolved.

Also, although this problem would periodically go away with seemingly no input, even if these troubleshooting steps worked I’m not willing to keep investing more and more money into a platform that I have to reinstall on every device every 6-8 weeks because this has kept happening. I refuse to blame operating system errors when Evernote is the only piece of software that I use that has any of these chronic stability issues. I don’t have to log out of, uninstall, force restart, and reinstall any of my other apps but for the last 9 months or so that has been the norm for me trying to troubleshoot recurring problems with this app

  2. I kept having this same problem and Evernote’s technical support kept asking me to make sure iOS was up to date and then closing my ticket as “resolved.”

There is no help to be found on these forums either because there haven’t been any effective troubleshooting steps found yet, and it seems to only affect a small number of users. I’ve been a paid user since 2013 and last month I finally caved in and started exporting notes to OneNote. I found it easiest on my PC laptop where you have the “export as pdf” option for notes that you keep as records that don’t need to be edited again, but the best way to share/export notes will depend on the content type of each individual note.

I’m not happy with the fact that OneNote can’t search within PDF’s - that’s insane to me in 2024, but otherwise it is a very capable platform that has come a long way in recent years and is VERY fast and responsive compared to Evernote.

  3. Just wanted to chime in that I had this issue repeatedly on and off for the last year. Could never find a fix, no troubleshooting would work, and technical support from Evernote was useless, asked for a log file which I provided and their response was to make sure my iOS was up to date, which it was, and then they closed the ticket as resolved. Went through that several times before I started exporting notes to OneNote.

Do you use an iPhone as well or just iPad? This problem would periodically just resolve itself for me with seemingly no input or update being the cause for resolution, but whenever it would come up again it would always affect both devices for me - it always seemed like an account-specific problem, not device specific, which I was never able to make any sense of.

  4. For the record, no troubleshooting helped but the issue resolved itself without an update on all my devices 8 hours or so later. Might have been a very short term server-side issue dealing with that particular combination of software versions, but it went from affecting all of my devices after the update to affecting none of them by the end of the same day.

  5. After the most recent iOS update and Evernote update, I can get into the app and open a note once, and then once I try to switch to a different note or view my notebooks everything goes black and I just get a spinning loading wheel. This is happening on both my iPad and iPhone, and I have of course tried logging out, deleting, rebooting, reinstalling and it hasn’t made a difference.

Still at a point where every other update is completely app-breaking. I already submitted a ticket, but I encourage everyone else with the issue to do the same.

How do I associate the .enex file with Evernote to use it?  Thanks

Easiest way for me on my laptop was to just drag and drop the file onto a new note. It saves it in the note as an attachment, and once you open the attachment it will import the template and automatically create a new note with the calendar format

    Hi all,

unfortunately, EN keeps on crashing, eventhough I am using an external BT keyboard (none Apple) 😏

I’m assuming the app goes back to working as normal when you disconnect the keyboard/turn off Bluetooth?

EN has said in response to some tech support tickets to also turn off Stage Manager, it can be an additional trigger for this problem - typically it would be off by default except when you have an external display connected, but you can check it in your Control Center

Fingers crossed for a patch within another couple of days.

    Thanks.

Can’t use  VPN from another country due to restrictions with work-related apps/data.

If EN gives more Support “options” to Guest Users (who are not yet lured into paying) than it does to paying users, it would be funny if it weren’t so sad / tragic already.

And now suddenly, as if by magic- EN is no longer crashing even with the Apple Keyboard attached…

I swear I have not done anything except spend time moaning on this forum and generating a Support ticket…

My only regret is that I also have taken up too much of your time on this, @PinkElephant

@Bret Hammond, has EN stopped crashing for you, too (with the Keyboard connected)?

    Thanks once again, @PinkElephant!

And if anyone else manages to get the Support options that @PinkElephant gets, please let us know.

    Have a nice day, everyone!

I am glad things seem sorted out for you! I am still having the same issues. Thank you @PinkElephant for the help submitting a ticket, it didn’t seem to want to scroll on my laptop but I was able to click and drag the support fields on my iPad and submit a tech support ticket…honestly, I feel a bit foolish about that one, but I also feel like it’s just poor page design if a number of us were all stuck on the same thing and there was no indication that the menu could be dragged without you explicitly showing us how!

New development here. The app only crashes if I have the external keyboard (Magic Keyboard) attached.

I’ve tried switching the hardware keyboard to one of the others in the settings, but it still crashes.

Yetisis, is this happening with you also?

You’re right, I use the apple keyboard folio on my iPad Pro and as soon as I remove it the app stops crashing, that explains why it’s been working fine on my iPhone despite all the software versions being the same. Really interesting…still frustrating, but interesting

  10. Has anyone else had mixed results trying on other devices? It seems to be working fine with 10.62 running on iOS 17.2 on my iPhone, but the same software versions on my iPad are where it’s constantly crashing the app.

I have tried all the troubleshooting including uninstalling, forcing restarts, reinstalling etc with no luck. Not sure if it’s consistent for the device types you all are using or if it’s been a mixed bag?

I've had the best luck using the mobile app to file support requests.  On the Android app (I'm not an IOS user), it's in the settings menu, second from the bottom.  Hopefully you can get there despite the problem you're having?  I typically file a request using mobile with bare bones information, then elaborate more fully and attach an activity log when I get the automated email acknowledgement. Might be worth a try.

    Vinnie

In the android version do you submit the request directly through the app, or does it open your browser in-app? Through the iOS version it just opens through the browser and takes us to the webpage version which only has billing support tickets available. I do not have an android device to compare it on, but that’s interesting if it’s different

Update... it seems that if you just tap into the note to start editing then that's fine, it's the Big Blue Edit button that crashes the app. Not ideal.

Not my experience at all, iPad OS 17.2 and Evernote 10.62 and anywhere I click in a note crashes the app. Edit button also crashes app. I can navigate menus fine, but cannot interact with notes at all in any way

    Free user ?

I’ve been a paid user since 2013 and it’s the same for me, no option to open any tech support related ticket - our only options are to submit support tickets are Teams Account Billing, Account Management, and Subscriptions/Billing Issues.

Nothing software or tech support related as an option.

  14. Getting same bug after update, locked out of moving any notes, app freezes indefinitely once “move note” is clicked on 10.61.1 on iOS and iPadOS. Any rumors of a quick fix or upcoming patch yet? Been a paid subscriber for 10 years and never had such basic functionality fail on me like this, and the support link isn’t even giving the option to submit a ticket for anything other than billing issues.

  15. How is adding tags with the mobile web clipper a new feature when the mobile web clipper on iOS is gone? Along with all the sharing integration?

And what are the chances of us ever getting back to 1 or 2 click functions like we used to have on versions 9 and older? The update to 10 started burying common functions in menus or requiring twice as many clicks to do the same basic things like moving notes, and now major critical features are disappearing?

Am I missing something or are we moving backwards? If each update removes content and functionality, please stop updating.

  16. I have noticed in the latest release that some basic functions have added extra steps that seem unnecessary. First, opening the app and having to navigate to a preferred notebook instead of All Notes (if there is a setting to change this then I missed it and would love to be corrected) is an unwanted extra maneuver. Being able to open the app to my default notebook and organize and distribute notes from there as home base is something that I miss. It's almost like gmail defaulting to "all mail" instead of your inbox.

Similarly, moving a new note to its permanent home now requires an extra click because the option to navigate to the note's current notebook was added and you now have to select "move note" instead of having the drop box already there...which is only the case because the app sees everything from the perspective of "all notes" as opposed to your default notebook. Typically, you would already be viewing a note from within its notebook, unless you deliberately navigated to "all notes." It's already just one click to bring up your note tree and select where you'd like to navigate - you've now added a redundant route to do that (which is not fewer clicks or more efficient than the existing route), which adds an extra step to a very basic function that users do regularly.

I don't mean to sound petty, but extra steps and having to confirm your navigation choices feels tiresome when the previous version was able to navigate quicker.

In that same vein, having a large "edit" button in front of notes when you already could just click inside the note where you'd like to edit seems silly...clicking "edit" prior to placing your cursor in the desired place does exactly nothing except gets the user clicking more. One-step navigation was sublime in the previous version - I appreciate the forward-thinking potential of the new app but the redundancy is something that ought to be pared down in future updates. Single-click navigation was something that Evernote had completely nailed in the past and I trust that within a few updates it can be done again.

The blue Edit button needs to go. It’s completely unnecessary and an eyesore. We can already edit notes by tapping the screen/text. No matter the background, it clashes and sometimes blocks out text.

I've noticed this a lot throughout the iOS re-release - just the overall redundancy built in and the extra clicks expected for things. I would love to see this pared down and streamlined more, and this edit button is a good example of a whole constellation of these related issues
