  1. I uninstalled and reinstalled Web Clipper, after clearing cache, just to get things working better. When I clicked on Web Clipper in Safari, it asked me to allow this on all web sites (or for a day, etc.). What concerned me is it said it had access to passwords and other sensitive data. I said yes, allow, worried something in Web Clipper might not work correctly otherwise. But why does it need this access, and is it safe not to allow it?

  2. I know that. But consider this:

    1) I have sent three reports of the Smart filing disaster in, it's been many month maybe even a year or more - no fix. Sending reports does not inspire confidence.

    2) I post here in case others are having the same problem. Or so others might say they don't have the problem, or others might say they had the problem and they discovered something that fixed it.  Which leads to #3 then..

    3) You always reply to problem reports like that @PinkElephant, so what is the purpose then of a forum titled "Possible Bugs/Technical Issues"?

If this is all we get in this forum what's the purpose...

  3. Besides the long-reported brain-dead "Smart filing feature" problem, an update came down 2 days ago, and now if I have not used the Clipper for some short period of time it quickly pops up a "login successful" box, then flips to another tab with its dialog box up - I Have to close it and go back to the correct tab and click it again. Also when not used for a little while, it changes settings - It moves my selection of "Smart filing" (glutton for punishment) to last used notebook, it changes my setting "Auto Close Clipper" to "Show successful clip dialog", it re-checks/turns on "Show Evernote Content....", and re-checks/turns on "Show Save to Evernote button".

I know the settings are correct because they work - until they stop working.

Please Evernote fix this clipper extension - it's very valuable and if it worked properly, sop much more so!

  4. To resurrect a little bit of an old thread here - I just tested to see if I could export everything from Evernote in an .enex file, and it worked.  Her the instructions on modifying the config.json file, I set it to 25000, as I have over 24,000 notes. This is with the latest version of Evernote, not the legacy version. I then clicked on one note (this is on a Mac), did a  Cmd-A to select all, and lo and behold all 24,000+ notes were selected! On My M2 MacBook Pro it took less than 20 minutes or so to export the file.

I am testing import into Apple Notes and Microsoft OneNote next. Some prelim results on both look good, although it does not appear Apple Notes honors the noteboo/notes hierarchy I had in Evernote.

The web clipper itself works, it’s just the filing that requires a few clicks and entering of a few characters to pick notebook, tags and maybe apply a task. That’s usually not the sort of bug that calls for an urgent action.

You are right - "Except" when you bring out a feature called "Smart Filing". If you don't intend to support it, get rid of it - admit you can't make it work. If they never brought it out there would not have been an issue, now there's a feature staring us in the face every day that does not work.
