    Last version which works with Windows 8.1 is Evernote 10.53.2 How to turn off auto-updates: Open %appdata%\Evernote folder Edit config.json file there Set "forceUpdateOnStart": false, and also add the following line "updateCheckPeriodMs": 8640000000, This will stop auto-update for 100 days.
