  1. https://evernote.com/blog/evernote-pricing-upcoming-features-update/ price increases are coming, we knew that, now we know what they are. Fixes for sync (finally!!) are coming (hopefully!) along with ai and other features. overall - increases suck but let’s see what they do, I just want better communication. My renewal is September so I have time to see. Oh if they could stop the app melting my iPhone when I use it for 5 mins that would be handy too!
  2. The Argos app in the UK does the best ones, the used to be hilarious. No issue with this personally, frankly I would rather anything before miscellaneous bug fixes! That says nothing at all.
  3. I got the number from the developer. It was a while ago so it may have changed but Thomas stated 7k max at the moment. They are aware and ok with the limit, or were.
  4. UpNote is great it has one limitation folks should be aware of - it struggles after around 7000 notes if I recall correctly. That’s not likely an issue for some but for others it could be a real problem.
  5. Could be likely, personally I dont really have a use case for AI, Craft already has it implemented, but other than writing some pretty cool poems I am not sure how I would use it. I will be keeping an eye on Evernote - I do hope there is a change through for me I think now there is too much water under that bridge and a deep loss of trust. When I think I can get the family version of Microsoft 365 for the price of pro Evernote it becomes pretty difficult to justify the cost.
  6. The irony for me is that if BS had communicated with users, explained they were raising prices, engaged in some way that communicated they didn’t see us as worthless, I would have paid an increase! I love the product but I detest how it is run now so it’s a principle thing for me now more so than cost (though I wouldn’t have welcomed an increase I would have begrudgingly accepted it). As others have said I will run the free account as an archive though I also plan to download it all as html and Evernote files to protect against any future changes. I am trying out craft which seems really good, had a wee look at men.ai though it seems to be just at beta just now with its apps, also testing out Microsoft 365 and OneNote with it having the email forwarding feature. It’s a shame as Evernote ticked literally every box but I would feel like a mug continuing to pay for it after all this so it’s me that has to adjust how I work, which may lead to something useful in the end (unlikely lol!).
  7. I have what’s now Microsoft 365, the family package is a bargain in sub context. Still trying to work out if OneNote cuts the mustard, it has email forwarding which is great! But im also really enjoying using Craft, trying to sus my work flow out a bit as im not convinced by onedrives universal sync, it doesn’t bring up all results. ps - yup in the uk the drive is towards trying to save money where possible, the cost of living crisis lives large. The price increases some are seeing are laughable, I don’t see many justifying paying that when we struggle to pay our energy bills!
  8. The Reddit page is filling with similar things. BS are mocking users lol, and people are taking it without question. You can get probably every other notes app on subscription for the yearly price quoted above!
  9. https://techcrunch.com/2023/02/27/bending-spoons-lays-off-129-evernote-staffers/amp/?guccounter=1 Covers recent lay offs though I think there was many prior as Ian and others were gone before then. Few thoughts - 1 - interesting they can get a quote from BS considering they can’t be bothered communicating with users… 2 - Claims that EN has been unprofitable for years - this directly contradicts articles Ian had written which state they were making a profit and last year it was record breaking if I recall right. Either way, the lack of communication and now a public narrative of cost cutting and unprofitability, these are not happy days for EN users which is a real shame considering how positive things were starting to get.
  10. I’m not sure how it handles thousands - I don’t have that many, but I have not seen anyone complain and some run it at its upper limits. Yes the windows app is out, it’s similar to the web app though web has a few new features making their way down. I would expect Android will be sometime in the near to mid future as the windows app seems based on Electron (though its impact on the system resources is minimal).
  11. Not for me, I have decided to move my work over to Craft. The difference in engagement and value of the paying user base is night and day. It doesn’t have all the features but I’m adjusting by using a few other apps. It’s a pity, Evernote is a really good product but I don’t agree time is needed - communication to those we value is instinctive. I do hope they turn it around which is why I’m still active here but I’m working and acting now on the basis this is the status quo.
  12. There is a blog, which Ian used on a semi regular basis to keep users in the loop..:communication then is a fairly effortless process.
  13. If that’s your view that’s fine. Mines is simple - communication shows they value and care about customers and want to reassure them in the transition and regarding the direction ahead. There has been none of that. The conclusion is quite a logical one.
  14. Bullseye! We are seeing by their actions exactly how the new regime views paying customers, I think it’s polite to say with contempt. It’s a pity - Evernote was getting onto the right track and things were getting good, now we got all this inner outer circle nonsense with a regime that view some as worth communication and others as not worth the effort. It’s perplexing, and frustrating as I am paid up till September, if I’d known what was coming I would have not paid for the year.
  15. It’s really easy actually - go to Ian Smalls profile and follow his comments, I counted a good amount all to folks who, like Ian have been sacked by BS.
  16. I have been keeping track of linked in and it’s pretty clear Evernote has been gutted and most of its staff sacked. Let’s me quite clear - whatever Evernote is now, it is NOT the product or company we spent our money to use. I’m personally disgusted by BS conduct and lack of communication. I pop here every now and then hoping things have changed and they have decided to show customers an ounce of respect, clearly not.
  17. Elon Musk - above reproach 😬 I used the email address pink elephant posted and sent a message expressing the thoughts I’ve posted here, don’t think it will make a single bit of a difference but at least I can say I tried something. Was checking linked in and Ian is gone alongside other managers and staff, yet there is nothing from the new owners telling us what’s going on. I just find that odd, complacent and disrespectful to people paying hard earned (ever more so these days!) money to use and support the product.
  18. To me communication is an essential, we can claim EN isn’t great at it, and maybe it’s not the best but Ian did give quarterly reports, he would do interviews, drop in here occasionally and engage with the user base. Bending spoons can be described most politely as aloof - they have not in any substantive way attempted to reassure a very committed and engaged EN user base. And IF the new owner was a user as they claimed surely they would have an inkling that there was such a user base. As I said, I have started moving to Craft, I made it clear today when I cancelled my subscription why, my sub here runs until September granted so I wouldn’t imagine it’s seen as that big a deal. I just think what they are doing is unfair and disrespectful, we spend hard earned money on this and they can’t be bothered communicating - nah that’s not for me.
  19. The silence to me shows how they view users - not with value. They don’t see the customer base as worth respecting by communicating with them and keeping them in the loop. They have sacked the CEO it seems who drove the new product vision and spoke of new features and plans - what happens to those new features? They coming? WHO KNOWS. Bending spoons have shown by their actions we the users mean zilch and this approach of theirs makes me very relieved I have been moving my stuff over to Craft - there the staff and management communicate with users - why - cause they believe they matter and they care about their concerns. Here crickets - it’s an utter disgrace.
  20. It’s fine to be frustrated and express that but gonna be a little more respectful to other users please! The minimum that should be expected is we act like adults.
  21. I frequently had sync issues too. I wonder if geography may play a role in this? Maybe American folks, closer to the servers have less issues, whilst here in the uk sync is slow and often doesn’t happen as it should. Not sure, but something is playing a role in the consistency all users should expect.
  22. I really hope bending spoons do something great with the software but for me I work in certainty - all this ambiguity frustrates me so it’s time for me to take a step back. I’m not saying I’ll never return but there are a few too many red flags for me at the moment in regard to communication and thus respect and value of the user base. Maybe that will change, hopefully it does, I’ll be dropping into here and the blog to see how things develop.
  23. I just read the article - the frustration for me in this has been the treatment of users - the silence and ambiguity continues, the article says little. Bending spoons have made little to no effort to engage with Evernote users and offer any form of reassurance or direction, for me that speaks volumes. It is the ambiguity and lack of any direction or explanation of what this will mean for users that led me to decide to move on. I got a really good deal for Craft and now I’m using that as my daily. The article doesn’t even say if Ian is around, we know nothing and we are the folks parting with ever harder earned cash to use this. Not on in my view. Sorry if this is ranty! Frustrated that I have had to leave a product because a couple of wealthy folks couldn’t be bothered to communicate with every day folks when they bought their new toy.
  24. I’m kinda wait and see….the current Evernote ethos works for me, if that changes I’ll need to find an alternative (again lol), I guess first alarm will be if Ian Small is fired for me as that would be a hint that the approach is changing. Don’t get me wrong, there’s issues and all that but the tasks and home etc I find really helpful.
  25. Thanks, I tried that before and it didn’t work, tried it there again and it did. Problem with this is the email invitation was associated with the address that had the +xyz even though it arrived at the right inbox. It’s adding too much complexity to those I had asked to join Evernote to share the note with as it doesn’t by default take them to their registered account.
