  1. This was raised on X and Federico replied. Some random users have been given these to see what the feedback is - Federico says it’s NOT been positive and they are looking to develop this way more before it would roll out to others.

Personally I like the clearness but I would like it customisable - what WE need on our mobile Home Screen - so if folks wanted that they can, if they want widgets bash on and add em. I would leave the iPad one well alone, the desktop home works absolutely perfectly on that size of screen.

I also like the bright colors. They don't distract me; they cheer me up a bit and maybe even encourage me as I work. The fact that Evernote is so flexible and is useful for so many different approaches to work and other activities is another good reason why we should have some selections possible in themes or stylesheets. Let there be options in colors, brightness, contrast, etc.

Additional themes could be the solution to the current reactions, not sure if they are open to that, time will tell I guess. I’m looking forward to mobile (and iPad) getting some tlc, it looks aged to me now when switching from desktop.

They bought Evernote and made a bet they could fix it and be profitable. So I understand their decision to drop Legacy even If for me V10 is still too way buggy and clunky to use (they made progress though, half a year ago I found it completely unusable with not even sync working properly.

Users like me with a lot of data have a hard time either coping with what Evernote will probably develop into or look elsewhere. Newer or future users can jump ship much easier if issues persist, so we will see how this develops.

I for my part will not be using V10 much in the future, I already moved my currently relevant stuff out of Evernote and will use V10 only as a storage dump for existing unformatted or less relevant things like website clippings, etc.

I found a solution that fits my needs and relies more on OS provided services like finder tags, spotlight and iCloud sync, added with a beautifully clean interface and so far everything works as expected.

The Evernote web clipper is second to none (when it works) so I will keep using that in the future, possibly on a free account once my recently renewed subscription ends (for a discounted renewal of 59 € even the web clipper is worth the extra year).

This approach I can agree with! It sucks that you don’t find 10 useful but instead of pretending that won’t be an issue you addressed it and found a work flow that works for you. That’s all anyone can do. I’ve seen some go to obsidian (not sure why to be honest as it’s so complex) some to Amplenote etc, for different reasons, trying to find a workflow that they can use. Glad you have found one.

Are you serious?? You are stunningly patronising, incredibly rude and missing the point.

You are deciding to and happy to use inferior software because it's not "outdated". Who decided Evernote V6 is outdated? Evernote. QED. Wake up. You're clearly just happy to do what you're told like a good boy and take the cr@ppy software you're given. Well you just carry on.

I didn't come here to waste my time with people that want to endlessly defend a company who are digging formally great software in the ground.

Yes I’m serious. I think complaining that software ADULTS have been told for THREE YEARS to stop using, that said users ignore that then have the entitlement to complain when it backfires are absurd. That is bonkers to me. I genuinely can’t fathom the issue here.

I don't know.  If one were to be using Legacy and signed up for another yar of Premium or whatever two months ago and was told a few a days ago that Legacy was kaput that could be a case for a refund.  Sure Legacy was known to be on it's last legs but there was no date certain.  Based upon the banner messages reported, etal, it would seem BS knew who was legacy and could have advised.  If they knew.  Just saying.

I’ve no sympathy if I’m honest. Any person paying hard earned money for software they know is unsupported and could close at ANY moment either has more money than I do and don’t see that as a worry or needs their spending supervised.

So does everyone who sees V10 as a horribly backward step and our views being constantly shutdown by the likes of you. Your response is extremely patronising. Count me as not surprised.

Are you serious? You use software you KNOW is out of date and unsupported, yet you are so stunningly entitled your here complaining because YOUR choice to use said software has brought consequences to you! If I thought I was dealing with teenagers, like around 13, I would maybe have some patience but thinking grown adults are behaving in such absurd and entitled ways - nah I’m not pandering to that.

You should try Obsidian it cost $129.99 less per year and does everything Legacy does and more.

It does do things differently which is why It has not taken over EN yet.  It's like learning how to write macros in Excel or record a Cherry Keys macros (link Below) rather then not doing any programing at all.

    https://content.cherry-world.com/fileadmin/media/Corporate/Software/CherryKeys_x64_1_0_7__1_.msi

But it you can learn a little markdown, it servers your needs and is free.

Evernote Version 10 IMHO is a little bit of everything but does nothing really well.  Its not a pure librarian any more, it not a task manager like Monday, it's not Chat GPT4.0.

Its a taste of everything with nothing done really well anymore.

So $70 dollars a year to a price hike of $130 a year.... No sorry I'll take my notes and my business elsewhere.

Hold on your saying you’re going to switch to obsidian - to save $1 per year?

It has ‘everything Evernote has’? Mail in notes? Nope! Easy table management? Nope! Export options? Nope, easy to use - nope! OCR across devices - nope! Obsidian is great for some use cases but it is not an Evernote replacement and it most definitely does not do everything Evernote does.

who the hell are you anyway & why do you think you can speak on behalf of the company?)

These are user forums! We can all share an opinion! Some are positive about the product like Pinks and trying to help others, some are disgracefully obnoxious like yours. There’s a great variety!

They are working on collapsible sections? This is EXCELLENT news!

It is going to be such a brilliant feature, unless it’s desktop only in which case I’d be furious. The ability to minimise data on mobile etc is so useful so I really hope this is an across the board feature.

Well, are you doubting that there are bugs?

    Just today I c*rsed, because:

    1. can right-click an attachment for copying out of V10, but the copy option is grayed out. Yeah, you can still copy it because on the top menu the option still works. It just interrupts a smooth and quick flow and violates logic.
    2. Whether an attachment is is displayed as preview or just a title is totally random end even if you set it once (one must do that for every single attachment in the note separately), the V10 forgets the setting after editing the attachment.
    3. Stored searches are a nightmare. They are not editable, only their title (not the content). It is difficult to find them, too.
    4. If you export a notes as an HTML file with a bunch of notes and attachments in it, the links in the generated index file (even though underlined as link) are dead.

So, it appears to me that there are in fact bugs in V10.

Oh, I do, too, I still do.

I certainly did not demand any kind of "stagnation", please reread my post.

On the contrary. I am asking - not demanding - for progress on killing the bugs and add a few very useful features (but I understand that I will be told here that "no one needs those". And PinkElephant will label that as "ranting". Especially if those features were in the legacy version).

Federico's post above is actually giving me some hope that the situation might improve. We will see. But at least this was sign that he is reading some of the messages on this board.

Hey, no I’m not arguing there are no bugs in Evernote 10 - as far as I know humans are not capable of creating infallible software :)

I was more curious about what the pain points are, my use case is more basic so I don’t encounter these. As you said there is hope, I do think Federico and the team are keen to get these sorted and to give them their due they seem more focused on user experience than it was previously.

    I understand that.

But many (including apparently you) on this forum don't seem to understand that comments are not a praise for legacy, they are a criticism of V10. And the way EN doesn't listen.

And I do stand by it and can provide a list of glaring omissions, incoherent implementations and crying bugs. This is not nonsense, not a narrative or pandering, it is called criticism. As a paying customer I thought I was entitled to it. If not, I apologies.

(Unlike yours, this posting is unlikely to receive a like from Federico 🙁).

I don’t wish to debate this but what bugs? V10 has come on light years in the last year alone, it holds most of the legacy features. The idea legacy was bug free is inaccurate too, I constantly had issues with sync failing especially around tags.

The simple reality is this though - it’s been starkly clear even before bending spoons that legacy was a stop gap, that has been drawn out, I genuinely hope you can adjust to 10, it’s honestly really good, but if you can’t I hope you find something else that really works for you. Demanding the stagnation of this service isn’t fair on current users, especially if that carries security implications.

  12. Official announcement in blog of the end of legacy. All I can say is THANK GOODNESS! Evernote have been beyond patient with those who refuse to make a decision, either use Evernote or find an alternative, to the extent as they have said - it’s holding Evernote development, features and SECURITY back. I am not ok with the security of my data being lessened because people can’t decide to either use 10 or leave. I might get heat for that but honestly I don’t care, I’m sick of the narrative, sick of the pandering, sick of the nonsense and so glad it’s finally coming to an end!

I value what's left of my sanity thanks - staying well away.  The old Evernote management team used to do podcasts and I remember them reminiscing about the death threats they got for changing fonts at some early stage...

Wise, I’m too nosy reading the AITA posts 😂 got banned from there for telling someone to weed killer the neighbours flowers!

The Evernote sub is a mess so much so someone started a Evernotepositive sub to avoid all the nonsense.

I once got called a "Bending Spoons bootlicker" on Reddit for my posts on here. People have these parasocial relationships with inanimate things and go through a personal break up when the prices get raised.

Reddit it mental, so many trolls in the EN Reddit, did you see the reaction when the post was made about increased features in the free and personal tiers, absolutely unhinged conspiracy nonsense. Really weird folks being that triggered over a notes app.

This would be useful ...if it would work properly 😒

Don't know how it goes in other language versions, but it messes up all Danish phone numbers. (area code + eight digits), and the error can't get corrected manually.

It worked flawlessly when I used it in the uk, again on the personal plan tho, so I had that feature, not sure if I lost it granted as it was rarely used.
