Warning, post a bit into techy details.

I was surprised today to find a note that had both blue and green links for Evernote links.  I copied the links out of the original document into a new small document and things were preserved.

Exporting this to an ENEX File, looking at it in a text editor with soft wrap on the lines:

I have munged the actual Evernote links.

The green link has a SPAN around it, coloring it green, while the blue link does not. I assume that blue is the default link color.  The original note had the same SPAN for styling around the green link.

FWIW.

Not a perfect solution, but you can, right after hit the space that causes the link, hit “undo” to remove the link.  Ctrl+Z or Cmd+Z

I had to signout deleting files and then sign back in before files worked for me on macOS.

I did lots of things, but the one that worked was signing out, choosing to delete data (sigh), and signing back in—it's working now.

Something is broke for me...  Files just showed up (or I just noticed) and I get this:

That is a bug presently in Evernote's handling of URI's.  It also fails for many other URI's at present.  See 

Please consider filing a bug report (I have).  As I understand the Windows version does not suffer from the same problem so hopefully there will be a resolution.

Are all the sections at the same heading level?

While not everything you are looking for, have you considered taking a screenshot of the highlighted code using another tool?  I think many folks use this approach to bring in documentation from other apps (diagrams of many types, mindmaps, etc.)

I don't know anything about it, but it came up in a search: https://fileproinfo.com/tools/viewer/exb, which claims to allow viewing exb files.

They preserve the collapsed nature, and thus, since it is saved, it changes the stored note. I am not agreeing; I am just giving you my model of why it does what it does. I hope they take a look at all of this as the RENT project is developed.

There are subtle things that cause changes where changes are defined as anything that changes storage.

For example, the conversion of an old page to RTE (real-time editing) causes the updated time to change.  Also, collapsing or expanding sections changes the updated time.

I use text in the note:

Last Updated:  2024-04-05

to note the type of update I want to track.  I am not arguing that this is great; just noting my approach to using the system as built.

The good news is that after another 30-40 minutes, the modified tag did come down in another sync/export, so it seems to be just a very slow process but not a "never" process.  This is a very welcome change from earlier.

The issue is with renamed tags (not applied tags nor new tags).

New note with existing tag.

Run evernote-backup, then export from it the ENEX files including  the notebook containing the new note.  Looking at it with editor, I see the note & tag.

Modify this note by adding a new tag.

Modify the tag name (over in the tags window), renaming it.  Observe in Evernote that the test note has new tag.

Wait 5 minutes for things to propagate.

I waited another 8 minutes and redid things again without change.

Couple of notes:

1. I patched my problem after the big rename for portability by killing the local database and then re-initing it.  With my script, Evernote note collection (8000), and my network connection, the scripted incremental backup and complete export takes about 4-5 minutes.  Killing the database and re-initing takes substantially longer.

2. I run evernote-backup routinely every day at 3 AM and then export all the ENEX files.  That way, I have fresh ENEX files, and my (Apple) time machine backup gives me a a history of the ENEX files in case I wish to recover something from a few days ago if things were to go really bad.  Never had to use the history but I am always ready to test another tool's importer tool.

Again, in summary, it looks like the problem is with renaming tags, not with creating new ones or applying new or existing ones.  I guess another workaround might be to never rename tags but to add new ones to all notes that have the old tag, then delete the old tag.

Notebooks can be exported to ENEX, right-click on a notebook or see the "..." on the notebook panel.

Keep It 2 looks interesting for those in Mac-only world.  Evernote import works (slower than some tools) but works except it does not attempt to deal with note that link like Yarle, Obsidian, and Joplin can.  Program is small and feels fast.  You can open a note in a window separate from the 3-column pane just like Evernote although it is not quite as friendly to do so (or I have not found it.)  It also supports Grammarly.

The iPhone version of Keep It 2 is less powerful but much less confusing than the Obsidian one IMO.  Seems to support choosing to download notes or not.

It does seem inconsistent not to use the user-specified default in creating the linked note.

Did the new copies get imported into one or more notebooks starting with  "(Imported)"?  If so, it would seem you could those Notebooks.

At the moment I need to manually move them from my default folder after I add them. Ideally, this would be a setting per calendar.

You could attack the problem from the other direction, go to the Notebook, create a note, and then choose to add a Calendar item.  You will have to set your own title though.  You can drag the Event into the title to grab its title.

Feels like they did get the timing right and put up the bubble too quickly causing it to interfere with normal selection motion.  Hopefully they can increase the delay and eliminate the frustration that it presently brings. 

You may be able to use "outdent" to fix it.  It has a keyboard shortcut if you need to use it multiple times.  It can be applied to a selection.

I agree with the analysis, but I don't see how it can be configured in TextExpander.

As a poor workaround, after pasting, you can delete and retype the space after the ##  (or highlight the space) and replace it with a space.

Alternatively, you can use Keyboard Maestro for this, which can submit keystrokes for processing.

Additionally...

Are they titled for the subject line of the email? searching using intitle:”subject text” should give you them (not perfect almost as well as many mail clients) especially if you sort by date.
