  1. Thanks all! The new Evernote seems unusable here too — but I don't understand the complaints about advanced features, because EN 10 struggles in *creating* and *showing* notes. That is, creating a note (with Cmd-N) and typing in it is not reliable. I'll stick to Evernote Legacy for now. I understand a bit why they rewrote the app: some longstanding bugs in the old app suggested it had very serious problems hidden behind the facade — those bugs were mostly hidden well, but I've long believed EN wasn't able to deliver working software, and feared it might be near bankruptcy. Rewriting your app can make sense, if you can avoid the mistakes of the first time. And some bugs are unavoidable — software is hard. But this doesn't seem much of an improvement!
  2. Thanks, but the article shows the App Store version numbers too—and "Version 6.9" correctly indicated the version was not up-to-date. As long as I don't have specific reason to suspect data loss (I got no warning email), I'll take Evernote at its word and avoid spamming the main thread.
  3. According to this article the build number I had was indeed the one of the old version. (Yes, "6.9" says it already, but the discrepancy with the App Store made me wonder whether the version dialog simply hid the .2). https://techcrunch.com/2016/10/13/evernote-confirms-a-serious-bug-caused-data-loss-for-some-mac-users/
  4. I've just got a "critical update" notification from Evernote (https://discussion.evernote.com/topic/100578-we’re-sorry-please-update-evernote-for-mac/?do=findComment&comment=434404), confirmed my version was 6.9 ("454042 App Store") and tried to update through Mac App Store. But the Store just had an "open" option even though it said the latest version was 6.9.2, and at some point Evernote stopped showing the "critical update" notification! Does that mean I was up-to-date or not? I tried restarting Evernote a couple of times to no avail. I ended up downloading Evernote from the website (and going through the migration, likely the note database wasn't too big) to get version "6.9.2 (454158 Direct)". Screenshots of the version dialogs attached:
