  1. My subscription cost basically doubled. So yeah, I did feel the need to downgrade to free. I'm still with Evernote (as far as I know), just somewhat restricted. ...Just trying to help others save money by posting the discount offer. Jez.
  2. Ok so here's a tip for anyone wanting to save money. I just downgraded my plan to FREE and after a couple of BS screens begging me to stay, this 40% off offer appeared. I still cancelled though. Time to move on.
  3. Ok I get it, cancelling your plan is not cancelling your account. Confusing though. I'm CHANGING or downgrading (to the FREE plan) not cancelling. Thanks for your help.
  4. I'm not looking to cancel, just downgrade to free. Both their chatbot help and a google search advises me to go to Billing --> Account Level and select UPDATE !!!
  5. From Accounts --> Billing there is no longer the option to downgrade to Free. My only option to avoid a steep $$$ increase in January next year is to fully cancel my account. Is this some type of error on their part, or by design. Btw their "help" chat bot is a joke.
  6. Ok Mike. I think I will send everything from Excel to a single export folder. Do away with the Evernote import folders completely. Then drag recipes, shopping lists, etc directly to their designated folder in Evernote. Still, it was much better under Legacy. Thanks for your help.
  7. You don't have to take my word for it. Simply (i) install a copy of Legacy. (ii) Setup an Import folder. (iii) Create a simple note in Evernote. (iv) Export this note as an Evernote file. (v) Add this file to the import folder.
  8. So, with Legacy, all I would do to create a recipe or shopping list in Evernote is click send (Shopping) or Create (Recipes). It really did work that seamlessly. Now, in the case of recipes, this is what is needed: 1. Press Create (from Excel) 2. Double click on the "attachment" in Evernote 3. Go to the default folder 4. Move the recipe if it doesn't belong in the default folder. (In the case shown, it doesn't because it's a brewing recipe) 5. Delete the other copy (the one showing "attachment") 6. Finally, I can add a photo and relax a little!
  9. They're not attached files. MS Excel creates an enex file for shopping lists (from 'meal planner'), recipes (from 'recipes'), etc. The formating is an exact match. There are no attachments. Not even images (they're added later, in the case of recipes.) And, in any case, I've experimented by creating a simple note directly in Evernote, exporting this note, and adding to the import folder. Same thing: it appears as an attachment that I need to double click, then it opens always in the default folder. And, as I stated: if you manually drag the evernote file to the designated folder it is a proper Note instantly, none of this headache.
  10. Maybe I'll explain the issue a little clearer. From MS Excel under my 'meal planner' file, I select a recipe, and click on list from the menu. Then I click 'send'. This creates an Enex file (using vba) and sends this to the import folder 'Shopping'. Evernote then automatically imports my Shopping list. Now, to get to what you see in the second photo below. I have to double click on the attachment in Shopping. The shopping list is then sent to 'Recipes' (my default folder) as an actual readable note. I then have to select the recipes folder and drag the note back across to Shopping. Then I delete the other note (the one just showing an attachment) in Shopping. Only then, do I arrive at what I want, what is shown in the second photo. However, If I export from Excel, and simply manually drag the Enex note into Shopping, it instrantly appears as a note (NOT an attachment.) So, In Legacy, Import folders behave in exactly the same way as if I'd manually draged the file directly into the folder. It would be good to at least have the Option of allowing Enex files in Import folders to be treated the same as "drag and drop'. Also, double clicking on an attachment in the intended import folder (Shopping) should NOT send the attachment to another folder (Recipes).
  11. If I create a very simple Note, say "The quick brown fox" and export this to the desktop. If I manually move this to a folder in Evernote, it instantly appears as a note. However, if I place it in an import folder, Evernote automatically imports it as an attachment. Further, when I double click to open, it always sends it to the default import folder regardless of the actual intended import folder. I find this very frustrating, This does not happen with the Legacy version
  12. Granted you need a PC. However, I use Excel 2010. You don't need to use a subscription-based version of Office/Excel. And, the product will work with the free version of Evernote. There is also Nutrition data generated. I know this probably isn't that I'mportant for most people, but maybe it should be. Apart from the "professional" use (eg cafe owners), another use might be Nutritionists providing their clients with recipes (eg 50 easy to prepare recipes stored in the recipe folder that meet certain criteria such as low added sugar, low sodium). Clients can then plan their meals, and create shopping lists, without everything being so strictly structured.
  13. I actually agree with you gazumped. I'm not a "foodie", and I mostly cook so-called "boring" non-recipe meals. Last night: fish fillets (steam-cooked in foil in the oven), boiled potatoes and some greens. Didn't need some auto-generated shopping list to send to Evernote either! However, it is useful when you want to cook "something different" for dinner every now and then, and also for baking where quantities need to be more precise. And in relation to cooking "something different", the recipe system will generate ideas for you: suggest categories to look at, list all (category) cake recipes, pick a random recipe, and so on.
  14. At this stage it is only Windows based. However, it might be possible to produce a Mac version. To be honest, I don't know enough about the Mac version of Excel to know how feasible this would be.
  15. It's Excel based and NOT an app. It runs on a PC. Each Recipe file creates what I call a "compressed recipe". This is "bundled up information" on the recipe covering ingredients, amounts, nutrition info, categories, etc. The compressed recipe is approx 320 characters in length, and contained in a single cell. It is essentially the same a database record. You copy/paste the compressed recipe to other files, such as Shop (for meal planning and auto-creation of a shopping list) and Extras (for labels and costings). Evernote works from the Shop file. Open the Shop file, plan meals, and select the SHOPPING LIST worksheet to see the auto generated shopping list. Then, press the Shop button to send to Evernote. (Look under Features, Shop on the website to see a video on how Evernote is integrated into the recipe system.)
  16. So, after an email exchange today, Support suggested that I post a link to the product here. Note: the product is free until June 1st, just use the promo code chef101. At this stage, I'm really just after a small userbase so I can get some feedback. https://www.leorecipesystem.com/
  17. Thanks PinkElephant. I just upgraded to Premium. I'll contact support shortly.
  18. I have a product that allows meals to be planned, and a shopping list to be sent to Evernote from a PC. My problem is, I do not know how to go about informing Evernote of this product, without it being treated as SPAM. Could someone on Evernote staff contact me perhaps? I can forward details, allow with a promo code for a free download.
