  1. Greetings PinkElephant,

I apologize for coming to you with this question, but I am not clear how to contact Evernote support in a timely manner.

I am preparing to upgrade to the new version from Legacy, but I can not find a way to create local folders.

Are local folders supported in the new version, and if not are you aware of a way to use Evernote while keeping Evernote folders containing sensitive information on my local HD only, verses storing them on Google's cloud servers.

Thank you in advance for any guidence you might offer.

    Kindly,

    Byron

  2. Dear Federico, Welcome to Evernote! I understand you are new here and that your role is related to the recent acquisition by Bending Spoons. If I've misunderstood, I apologize, but the following information still stands. It's come to my attention that a significant number of long-term Evernote users have expressed satisfaction with our Legacy version over the new release. Their preference is not based on an unwillingness to adapt to new features or interfaces, but rather on specific needs that the Legacy version meets and the new version doesn't. Many of these users, myself included, would prefer to continue using the Legacy version and are willing to pay for it. There is a risk that, if compelled to switch to the new version, some users may choose to stop using Evernote altogether. One of the primary reasons for this preference is the distinct functionality of the two versions. The original Evernote focused on providing a superior personal note-taking experience with minimal sharing functionality. This made it unique. However, the new Evernote seems to prioritize features common to shared office apps, making it less distinct from other applications available. Moreover, the new Evernote is reportedly slower than the Legacy version and has omitted some key features, even as it introduced new ones. Unfortunately, many users feel that the added features do not make up for the ones removed, hence their reluctance to upgrade. In essence, users have built their workflows around the Legacy version of Evernote, and the new version does not support these workflows, leading to their continued use of the Legacy version. Many Evernote users, including myself, are interested in knowing how long Bending Spoons intends to support the Legacy version of Evernote. A clear end-date would be incredibly helpful for Legacy users as they plan their next steps. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Best regards, Byron Rupp Switzerland P.S. For additional context, you may want to check out the numerous discussions on Evernote forums and reviews online, which provide anecdotal evidence of user dissatisfaction with the new version. You may also consider conducting a user survey to collect direct feedback on this issue.

  4. SLOW SLOW SLOW The biggest problem the new EN faces is speed. I am afraid that they have chosen to sacrifice speed for the benefits of a less complicated development environment. Maybe this is a good decision for Evernote, but for my use case it is a disaster. I am worried that the new speed problem of the new EN is not solvable, and that my type of user will need to transition to a program capable of handling heavier loads and larger databases in a responsive manner. After checking in on the competition, I believe Evernote legacy is still the best option for frequent web clippers and large "heavy multi-media" note databases. I have over 32,000 notes in an image intensive database. However, the competition is closing in, while EN seems to be sliding backward in some ways. The fate of EN will be decided in the next 24 months. I suspect there are a large number of premium users becoming increasingly interested in an EN alternative. I suppose management is going for mass market Macdonald's type software, but the competition in this area is intense and I do not think the current EN has the management DNA to compete in this category. But if that is where the money is then I can not blame them for following the herd. In my use case I am not interested in a dumbed-down mass market product. I want a heavy-duty, fast and long term reliable database to preserve all my work. I happily pay the Evernote premium subscription, even as I worry that Evernote is migrating away from my type of user. I wish there was an economic model that supported a premium user personal database, and I wish there was a company that believed in that vision. Here is a link for those interested in exploring the EN competition https://www.noteapps.info/
  5. I am very sad to say - I think Evernote has lost it's way. What is needed is a leader with a clear vision and the VC's to back them up. I do not fault the current management team, I am sure they are responding to financial/market pressures and user feedback to craft the Everneote they think the market wants. I would love to buy Evernote and return to the roots which was a personal database product that makes it easy for users to create, collect and retrieve information. Maybe what is needed is a new company that starts from scratch - but that takes soooo long to get going. Today everyone is trying to create Enterprise/Business products, what I want is a personal product that I know will be around 50 years from now. I want a product that will be around in the future, so all my efforts will not be wasted. There are so many ways Evernote can be developed to improve the management and analysis of private or shared databases. There is a huge potential, a blind spot actually, that all the products I am aware of are missing. I wonder how many other people want the same thing - a personal database that will be around 50 years from now? omotxx@gmail.com
  6. The new EN is VERY VERY slow - I am hoping they can fix the problem, or continue to support the legacy app on Windows 10.
  7. I am having the same problem - Scannable can no longer connect to my Evernote account. This is a problem since I depend on Scannable on a daily basis.

  10. I am wondering if other premium users are concerned about Evernote going out of business?

I am the type of user that will gladly pay $10 per month for the Evernote service, especially if I thought they were focused on me, personal accounts (vs. teams and business accounts). I tried to integrate Evernote Business into our company a few years ago, but it was not well received. My concern is that there are not enough users like me willing to pay for a best in class service. Personally, I view free as a way to demo the product. What will happen to all the premium users that have committed to Evernote if the company does not obtain additional funding? Long Live Evernote!!

You should be posting in the public forums.

I have seen no indications Evernote is going out of business.
I  don't even know they are seeking additional funding.
My notes are being processed, as they have in the past.

I don't have any concerns anyways.  It's extremely easy to export my data; I do this weekly in my backups.
