  1. I'll have to check when the issue occurs again; guess I'll try to record it then. However, seems to be a bug in any case and I shall open a ticket.
  2. Sometimes I cannot assign tags to notes, nothing seems to help except restarting Evernote Mac Desktop app. Did somebody else experience this? I have the note open in the normal view and click on the list of tags assigned to the note (bottom of the note) and start typing the first letters of an existing tag, but no list appears. Also I can enter any tag (existing or not), but it is not saved; neither by clicking on it, hitting enter, nor changing the note. Only restarting the app helps.
  3. Is it this option? If yes, one should tell them support that it happens without this option enabled too.
  4. What is that? I think every Mac has iCloud, isn't it build into the OS? And why would it pop up now?
  5. Of course, but it is coming back repeatedly. I clicked OK more than once.
  6. Hi, has anybody a solution for that? I cannot see how more than 100GB free space qualifies for "Almost out of storage space" warning. The answer marked as solution is not a solution. EDIT: Created a support ticket waiting for response.
  7. Quite dramatic. You might be right for some, but not for me 😀 my stuff runs on modern hardware, all virtualized. Backups in more than one location go back min a year. Critical stuff is held even offline. Server dies, no problem. Back up in no time. I could have gone back one day per snapshot before EN’s update, but if it automatically updates this would not help. So what you say is only one aspect. The world is not black and white only, and just because there is a new version of anything it is not better per se.
  8. Yeah that is all correct, but what you forget is the effort. It costs money for new software, probably new hardware and in my opinion the costly factor, it costs a lot of effort to migrate everything that is running to a new system. And migrating a running system to a new one is a lot of effort. So if you are spending your time elsewhere there is an easy argument made to delay such migration for quite a long time. And frankly, just because MS says so, there is no real benefit from using Win10 over a well working Win7 system. Sure, updates and security and stuff... but that can be managed. So for my one remaining Win7 it'l run until I took the time to migrate all away from it that it does right now. So long...
  9. I don't expect that Evernote is different, but I expect that there is a decent warning that an update might break stuff. With every decent software I can decide if I want updates or not, but Evernote simply updated and stopped working. And I don't like that they since their famous V10 client remove functionality piece by piece. I am quite certain that I was able to see Excel files properly in Evernote, but now it tells me to buy premium... It's not that I cannot spend the extra buck, but this sneaky way of removing things to get people to buy another subscription is bad style. I would be willing to pay more if they start bringing back a proper native app without that electron *****. If you think about it, that an electron app has to not only be shipped with its own chromium package, but also has to run a complete webbrowser to execute its js code. That is crazy and that is why Evernote runs so poor. If I check the Evernote on my Mac right now, it consumes about 1.7GB for doing nothing but sitting there! That is crazy. That's almost a 16th of my total 32GB and most personal computers have less. And for what? Only for the laziness to deal with code for 3 platforms (Win, Mac, Linux).
  10. Wow, yesterday the automatically updated Evernote broke, installed an older version to work on Win7 only to find today that it also broke the outlook add-in. For years now Evernote constantly removes functionality. Recently I found that I cannot simply see Excel content because now I need to pay more for it. I hate it and I bet soon the pink elephant is telling me I have to accept it all and it is only for the greater good. DARN I am furious
  11. You are right, but I guess you can imagine that there are reasons. And besides, I don’t visit Websites with that machine. No bitcoin either. And an up to date browser helps a lot, regardless of the OS. And if there was an issue, so what, one button restores the VM. For everybody else, v10.56.8 works on Win7. https://cdn1.evernote.com/boron/win/builds/Evernote-10.56.8-win-ddl-ga-4069-8d752afa50-setup.exe You can disable automatic updates of Evernote by modifying config.json located %AppData%\Evernote\config.json Modify the key „forceUpdateOnStart“ to false.
  12. Same problem. And the hint to update the OS is not helpful at all. Apparently there are reasons.
  13. First, thanks for clarifying that this is not Evernote support. Secondly, in recent times I am astonished time after time, how weird one can build an application (be it Evernote client or webapp). Why would a web application download all my notes? That is like login to your email provider's web frontend and it would download all my emails. Are you telling me that Evernote web app loads all my notes onto... where? my browser? I cannot believe this. It would mean that if I open Evernote on my mobile it would suck empty my data plan in no time? Very strange. Anyway, opened a support ticket.
  14. Hi Evernote team, I logged onto the web frontend today to quickly find a note, but after I logged on I had to wait for literally minutes before I could even see newer notes. During this process notes I created month ago kept appearing in the list of notes and then disappeared again. In the end, it came to a halt, but it does not show my recent notes. I sort for "Date updated" or "Date created", but I am not seeing a good week of notes. The notes are there on Mac and Windows clients.
  15. Looking into https://joplinapp.org/ now. I think it is not quite there, but it looks promising. Some people also mentioned Notion? And... he put together some interesting list of flaws, but lacks to recognize the slowness of the “app”. https://masakudamatsu.medium.com/evernote-10s-user-interface-renewal-is-shockingly-bad-7753f8d9f411
  16. To me it seems they load every note you select from the internet. Would explain the slowness, and cannot really be fixed with more powerful devices. The developers and testers of Evernote access their notes via LAN which is quick as a fox, but we have to use the Internet and that is slow? Whatever, the v10 is unusable. And on my mobile (iOS) I cannot roll back and even the opening time of the app freaks me out. Usually I would open the app to quickly find something. But nowadays you click the app and it takes 3 to 10 secs before you can even start a search; On a current iPhone!
  17. Hi Evernote Team, I just installed v10.3.6 and is was very slow. Saw a lot of this green spinning wheel. Before that I had version 7.14, which was way more responsive. And you know what really puzzles me? I just tried evernote in my browser (Chrome) and it is faster and a smoother experience than the v10 desktop application. How is that even possible? Sorry Evernote Team, this is bad. Time machine let me go back to v7.14 by restoring evernote.app in the app folder.
  18. Ha, I missed all the fun. Just installed v10.3.6 and was blown away by the sluggishness of a "desktop app". Luckily, time machine let me go back directly to v7.x Sorry Evernote, how can you mess up so big?
  19. No, I did not realize that. In any case I believe what I said to be correct. Have not tried the Windows one. The one on the iPhone is fairly ok though, because you usually do not need complex editing on the phone.
  20. Hi DTLow, this whole thread is about the WebEditor. The native editor on the MAC is fairly ok. And what looked nice in the MAC app does not look that nice on the web. And if you start editing, it gets painful to do even the easiest things. My biggest issue is that it is no longer possible to insert images directly into the note in the web editor. Possible in the MAC app, yes, but in the browser you need to do tricks. And I think a note taking app should support that feature. It did BWT, as you can read in one of my posts above. However, the problem, as I understand it is, that evernote has no control over the editor. It uses a third party product, which for itself is not an issue, but evernote uses a very old version of that editor (TinyMCE).
  21. You're right, but Evernote is already using TinyMCE, hence there is no new wiring I guess. The thing is, that I am using Evernote now, not in the distant future. And I am also paying for it right now, not in the distant future. So, when is this rewiring and library writing going to happen? Recently, I found out that Evernote dropped one crucial (at least to me) feature: Pasting images from the clipboard directly into the web editor. So far I did this all the time and it worked very well until the feature was dropped; suddenly it was gone. My bug report was first answered like this: After some back and forth emailing we arrived at this answer: That is a full 180 going from "feature request" to "we disabled it on purpose". Honestly, I do not like it. I like Evernote and use it daily, but with regards to the web editor there seems to be no progress being made since a long time. After reading the forum and Evernote support's answers to my bug report, I get the feeling development to the web editor is on pause. Dear Evernote support, when do we get a web editor that is on par with the rest of the internet?
  22. Hi everyone, I do not understand, why Evernote cannot simply give us the features that are already available. My understanding is, that Evernote Web uses the editor TinyMCE (www.tinymce.com). And when I checked last time that editor comprised already all the features desired by people in this forum. What I do not understand, but maybe someone from Evernote reading this can explain, why is Evernote using a version of TinyMCE that is 2 years old? At least the tinymce.js loaded in my Evernote declares itself as being version "4.1.0 (2014-06-18)".
