  1. I'm very sad, I invested 11 years in EN. I still have an outstanding support ticket (Search inside PDF's) from February, and every few weeks get a 'sorry' email from EN to say that the development team will look at the problem, when they have time.

I beg to differ with OneNote not searching inside docs - yes it does, and the OneNote OCR is far superior to EN, in the tests I ran. You are correct losing tagging is a huge pain. Although OneNote Batch did transfer the Tags over to OneNote with the data and using OneNote's search it's not difficult to locate the transferred note. A huge amount of my notes contains old genealogy typed records a JPG's. On my tests OneNote out preformed EN in OCR'ing these documents.

  2. That explains a lot - I've been looking at the files in ....\AppData\Roaming\Evernote and the files in theses folders on my desktop and laptop are a similar size - around 57 GB. Now looking at ... \Evernote\databases the desktop computer has 57 GB and the laptop 13 GB. I tried disconnecting the desktop from the internet and I could not find a note I could not access. Thanks. Okay why is the laptop taking so long to download the data? - I've a fibre connection at 200 meg. Could there is corruption and I need to restart from scratch?

  3. Many times I'm away from the internet and need my notes to be available offline. I've left my laptop running (Legacy) EN for 3 days, after checking today I can see very little evidence that the notes have been downloading to the laptop. Is there a setting o could of missed?

    Thanks

  4. I'm experiencing search problems inside PDF's - a search on the Legacy version does find multiple words (Example "Thomas Robley") in a PDF created with Acrobat. but not in V10 or the EN web version - I sent the note with the PDF in it to the support team and they were able to recreate the same problem. They raised a support ticket back in early March 23. They say the problem have been passed to the development team but could not offer a timeline for a solution. So, I’m stuck with the Legacy version until a fix is found.

I really P’d  off that I’m having to use the Legacy version AND EN have hiked the prices for the Euro zone by 66%!

  5. I took the plunge and purchased Onenote Batch - it's been a long haul but most of my data has been ported to Onenote. I'm sure that I will get it all ported. Sad to say Bye after 12 years, but for me enough is enough. I never ever had a day when V10 worked for me. Having to run the obsolete V6 AND increase the subs was a step too far.

The best tool at the moment seems to be OneNote Batch http://www.onenotegem.com/a/addins/onenote-batch.html You can import an Evernote Notebook into OneNote and it will create a new OneNote Notebook containing all the Evernote content.

You need to pay for it, but I think you can test it out by importing a few Evernote pages to OneNote, before paying.

My experience was that it worked quite well.

I've tried the demo, which can only import 1 note and when well - I sent an email to Gem and got a reply back straight away.

    Asking

    – I wanted to check if there is anything I would be likely to lose, (Maybe a file type that were attached to a note in Evernote) if I used your Onenote Batch 2016.

and received a reply that didn't make sense to me.

Because it is a paid add-in.

     And OneNote Release 2013.

In 2013, many article introduce, because it is the first tool to import Evernote enex file into OneNote

You can find, it still prove import Evernote 2.0s enx file into OneNote. This obsolete file format for many years

Maybe someone with a better understanding of Evernote can say whether OneNote Batch imports EN into Onenote.

  7. The problem got escalated two days ago (20 March 2023), and the tech support was able to reproduce the error / no find of multiple words inside PDF's from data supplied and informed me that they were working on it. They suggest using the Legacy version while this is being investigated.

I did think it could have been the way I produced my PDF's, which would be surprising as I use Adobe's Acrobat, but as the tech support says the Legacy version doesn't have the same problem, I think that can't be the case.

    Just waiting for a solution

In addition to any scanning delays,  Evernote has a set of OCR limitations which might be affecting you - see if any of these apply... https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/208313388

Thanks, but I really can't understand point 2 - all other points the PDF qualifies

Acrobat creates a searchable PDF - where I assume there is a text layer, and I would assume that Adobe has the best OCR system. Is that saying that Evernote does not index the text embedded within the PDF? Surely that can't be correct - a great version of OCR is ignored - Am I just looking at this incorrectly?

I do have a premium subscription.

    • Scanned PDFs with clear, typed text (handwriting is not searchable inside PDFs)
    • PDFs that do not already contain text that you can select or copy
    • PDFs with at least one page with a small image (1025 pixels of image data)
    • PDFs less than 100 pages long
    • PDFs less than 25 MB in size
    • PDFs that are not password-protected
    • PDFs that are not corrupted or unreadable
  9. I've scanned in some documents using Acrobat and inserted them into a note.

I've used Adobe's reader and searched inside these documents and found the search word and phrases, but they aren't found when I do the same searches via EN. These notes were uploaded to EN more than weeks before. Am I expecting too much of EN?

  10. Hi,

Is there a way to export to a text or CSV file the title of a note and all the tags attached to the note?

I have a genealogy Notebook with 10,000 notes with family history in them, when I started back in 2011 I imported many notes from Onenote and all of these notes don't have tags on them - and of course the mistakes I've made over the years. I was hoping to get a file from EN with the title and tags and then import that into Excel to locate the notes without tags.

I would be grateful of any info to do this or any other suggestions to solve my missing tags,

    Anthony

  11. Thanks for the suggestion - I've tried it with half a dozen searches, and I can't find any records with 'missing' data - It just seems a huge amount of data to be missing. I would try deleting the Evernote data file on the laptop and recreating the files, but with slow download speeds it takes a verrrrrry long time to download.

    Desktop 45.7 GB 895,226 files 21,156 folders - Laptop 44.7 GB 863,1454 files 21,2123 folders.

  12. In my Windows Evernote folder I have more than 30,000 files and more than gigabyte of data than my laptop. I have been syncing the laptop for a couple of days and it has stopped - should I be concerned?

I know where the internet is available it will not be a problem, but I'm off doing research (my research data in stored in EN) and in many places the internet will not be available.

    Thanks

  13. Using the Evernote Android version occasionally while at home is a little tiresome, but when I'm away from home the Android version is a real pain for me in syncing and specially the scanning, I suspect much of the problem may be the device, I'm using a Samsung A7 telephone. Is this telephone just underpowered for the latest version of EN.  If so, could someone recommend an Android telephone more suitable telephone.

    Thanks

Please be advised that we haven’t built this feature into the new Evernote app. This is one of a handful of features we are still considering. Thanks for letting us know this feature is important to you. I will share this information with our product team. Although I can't give you a specific time frame of when this feature will be implemented into the new Evernote app.

Thanks for sharing this idea with me. I’ve gone ahead and made note of this for our development team. While we can’t commit to getting all feature requests into the product, we do rely on our community to tell us what they’d like to see in the future. Please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other ideas.

Perhaps it's just me with a lot of PDF’S,  but without this it makes having files offline and having a Premium accounts a lot less value!
