  1. Wow! Thank you very much for the tips n tricks.
  2. Hello, I am really excite about the template feature that Evernote recently added. However, I still use my old way of manually create template (e.g. create a note, then copy/duplicate that note). The reason Evernote's Template doesn't work for me is because note's tag doesn't included with the template. For example, suppose I have a template called "Point to ponder", I would like it to have some tags (e.g. #opinion, #idea, #meditation, etc.). Is that possible? My idea of implement that features in Evernote is having an option either when creating the template or when using that template, to also include the tag with the template. Wonder if anybody have the same problem and how they solve it. Thank you.
  3. @TK0047 Thank you very much for your opinion. I spend about an hour this morning setting up a structure that I use in Evernote. I have to say it works quite O.K. I think it is more structure than Evernote, although that can be good or bad depend on how you like to organize thing. The downside is it is a little bit slower to load note than Evernote. You also can have only one type of item per line e.g. can't have Toggle To Do list, etc. Anyway, I think it is very promising.
  4. @DTLow by the way, can we downgrade Evernote for Android?
  5. By the way, currently, I find that Notion.se is a little limit on what I can put on each item in the note (e.g. only one color text, etc.) Their template solution is good.
  6. I agree with you on both the bug and suicide features. For the suicide features, I doesn't use them. For the bug, this is annoying. What I means when I wrote "trying to add new suicide features." is they should spending their time fixing the bug and make the app work as it should, first. Oh, by the way, I am not a native speaker, so please pardon me if my message are confusing. LOL
  7. Thank you for your comment. I do use Evernote as a GTD tools as well as simple note. Everything that I use Evernote for is already support in Evernote. The problem is many of these features has bug and doesn't work correctly. For example, search note doesn't work with non-space-between-word language or the save search problem on Android (that I mention above). I've report the issue to the developer but get no update on whether they do care to fix it or not. Frankly speaking, I still think that Evernote is a very good tool. If only they fix the bug to make it works as it should instead of trying to add new suicide features. (Note. What I means by suicide issue is killing issue, but you kill yourself so it is suicide) As long as I can't find a better solution, I have to stay on Evernote. By the way, currently, I am testing the Notion.so. I am not sure if it will work or not. Moreover, the one who abandon Evernote to Notion.so may not come back here to the forum anymore. However, I think that by asking the question (and suppose I got the answer) will help save time both for me and for others.
  8. Hello, I'm quite a long time Evernote user. However, recently I find that it is hard to be productive on Evernote. Save search work incorrectly on Android (I know that logout and login will solve this issue, but have to do this a few time a day is too bad), can't set what image to use as a note's thumbnail, and much more. I just find out today that there is a new service, called Notion.So. Gonna give it a try but would like to know the opinion of others who have test it. Thank you in advance.
  9. @Natt P. I wonder if Evernote gonna do anything about the issue. The workaround that I used is: At the very bottom of the note, I have a line called "keywords" with I format with a very light grey color. I copy the whole note and paste it into the little program that when paste a Thai message to it, it will break each word with space. For example, if I paste "ไปเรียนก่อน", it will convert to "ไป เรียน ก่อน". I then copy the converted message and paste it in the keywords section However, I stop doing this because it is a very tedious work and it waste HD space.
  10. One solution that may work is to have a prefix that tell Evernote search differently. Another is to have an option in preference to set the prefer search method. I think the first one is easier since it doesn't have affect on those who doesn't use it, for example searchinword:"some word".
  11. Hello DTLow, Thank you very much for your solution. I find that it is very useful, especially for the backup purpose. However, for a day to day usage, it is inconvenience. Hopefully, Evernote team will come up with a solution. By the way, I have try it on alternative note taking tool and it works. I've try this in Google Keep and it find the note as it should. (The note contain 1 sentence: "วันนี้ฉันให้แซมซ่อมคอมพิวเตอร์ของฉัน"). I also try at simple note and it also find the note.
  12. Hello, I encounter a problem with how Evernote implement note search: it search from the start of the word (I guess it use space as a word separator). For example: If note no. 1 has a word "ant" and note no. 2 has a word "important". When I search for "ant", it will find one note (Note no. 1). This is the way it should be and it make sense. However, in some language (in my case Thai), we doesn't use space to separate word. For "cute girl", it is "เด็กผู้หญิงน่ารัก" in Thai (cute = น่ารัก, girl=เด็กผู้หญิง). So, when I search for "น่ารัก", it will not find the note with "เด็กผู้หญิงน่ารัก". Now suppose a year ago I wrote a diary note "Today I have my computer fixed by Sam" which is "วันนี้ฉันให้แซมซ่อมคอมพิวเตอร์ของฉัน" in Thai (Not exactly the same, but close in meaning). If I want to find what Sam do for me (maybe he help me a lot), if I search "แซม" Evernote will not find any note! This cause a lot of trouble for me. Do anybody have the same problem? What is your solution? Is there a workaround? P.S. I already inform Evernote about this, but I don't know whether they will do anything about this.
  13. @DTLow Thank you. You said that you sync the notification with calendar, how do you do that? Is it require additional software? By the way, the reason I don't use notification is I don't like how it look in Evernote. This may seem stupid, but I find it distract me a lot.
  14. @DTLow, I am not quite sure if I understand the "when" correctly, so please have a look at my tag. I mostly use when (year and month) for specific the time related to that note. For example, I have visit China on Dec, 2016 but I may write my travel summary on Jan 2017, so when I create a note, I tag it with @2016 and @December. The only when tag that relate to GTD (at least my version) is @today. which will be tag on the current dairy note (2017-05-22). I also use to tag the project that I want to focus on today but since that is already in the today diary note, I no longer tag the project. As you can see, I rely heavily on the current date diary note, I create a short cut to @today tag. When click, it will show the current date note and I work my way from there. Now, if you ask about the way I manage date specific item, I use google calendar. For example, for website building project, I may have the outcome be "Soft launch abc website on June 10, 2017", "Official launch abc website on June 30, 2017" and "Collect the fee by July 15, 2017". All think that have date goto google calendar as an event. Since I check the calendar everyday, I will see which project is due and need focus.
  15. Hello, I am not quite new to evernote as well as GTD. However, due to my specific requirement and thinking, I tweak the standard GTD method to match my style (which I am not sure if I can still call it is a GTD system). Broadly speaking, here is how it works: I still have a notebook can inbox for capture thing and I try to empty it twice a day. I use standard tagging system (e.g. what, when, who, etc) to tag my note. I use no context (@home, @office, etc.), so where is my next action list? I create one note for each project with a tag "#project". It is my project control sheet. In it are: the output/outcome of the project (e.g. delivery a project to customer and get payment before specific date) the action need to get the outcome. Note that, this is not the complete list, I may just add a single next action or a few next action as I seem fit. the link to reference material (if need). For example, for a web site building project, I may have one reference note about "Design", one for "Database design", etc. Daily, I create a note with the date as title (2017-05-22). In it are: action I want to do on that date I check my calendar and put anything that relate to this day here. I then think about where I will be (Office, home, etc.) and think about what project I can do there. I then add a link to that project as well as state broadly what I would like to accomplish on that day (this is not the next action, the next action will be in the project control note). For example, for a website building project, it may be something like "aloha.com website - finalize the first draft design" (the underline is a link to project). The detail action for making the finalize 1st draft will be in the project control sheet. diary I do have a note book call checklist and it has one special note called "@out" which I keep all my next action that I do outside my house or office group by a little more specific place: e.g. Super Market, Book Shop, etc. Here is why I do it this way I need to reference back to all the thing that I have done in each project. I want to know roughly what I will have to do to call it a day. (I don't like looking at the endless list of next action) It allow me to plan just enough set of actions, not just a next action as well as not just the whole next actions. It also preserve the order in which the action is done. Looking forward to get your opinion, suggestion and question since it will help me improve my system (hopefully make it simpler). : ) P.S. Since English is not my native tongue, please apologize for my language.
  16. Hello, A long time reader on the Evernote Community, time to give back : ) ## Goals Minimalist / SimplicityNotebook & Stack BasedUse as little tag as possible## Set up 2 stacks00 GTD (stack)0 - inbox (one topic/task/item per note)1 - Next Actions (notebook)100 - Agenda (I've only one note for all the person, each separate by a horizontal line)101 - at Work Station (@work, list of all next action when I have full access to all the tools I need)102 - at Home103 - at Out & About (@Errand)104 - at Anywhere105 - Interesting Article (This can be in a checklist as well as in the at Anywhere but I separate it because I read at least 30 mins a day, so when I want to read I just open this note. It contain both web link & note link)106 - Waiting For2 - Project (notebook)201 - Current Project (list of all current project in one note)202 - Waiting For (I no longer use this note. Merge it with someday/maybe.203 - Someday 204 - Maybe3 - Project Reference (notebook)a lot of note. One project can have as many note as required. Evernote will have some code/id match with the one in "201"4 - Checklist (notebook)quite a number of note01 Reference Material (stack)for this I create a number of notebook into a broad category that suite my style e.g. bill & payment, cool web (both concept, idea, design, etc.)This is the only place I use tag. I have about 10 tags e.g. tool (for any note that contain info about a useful tool both digital and physical) ,etc.## Usage I look at "201" current project only a few times a day, usually when I have new projectMost of the time i will be in any notebook in "1 - Next Actions"I open "3 - Project Reference" as required by my workCurrently I use only the web version of EN (Just install SSD HD with only 250 GB). I open 5 tabs, each tab are usually for 1 notebooktab 1 for "0 - inbox"tab 2 for "1 - next action" (when click the notebook the note will change to all action that I can do at that context)tab 3 for "2 - project"tab 4 for "3 - Project Reference"tab 5 is not for "4 - Checklist" but for "SEARCH". This way, I always have a quick access to my inbox, next action, project and project reference material. When I do the weekly review, I will spend quite sometime on "2 - Project" and "4 - Checklist"## Current Issue When change notebook of a note, it (the list) goto that changed notebook. A little bit hard to upload file. It would be great if each notebook can sort note by different method. e.g. "0 - inbox" by date created, "1 - Next Actions" by title, "search" by date updated ,etc.Hope this is useful. PS. please pardon my English. English is not my native tongue.
