  1. Sorry! It wasn't intentional. I had a lot of problems with the forum and didn't realize this had happened. Thanks again.
  2. Thanks! I did part of that--simply reloaded the desktop app, and everything is working again. I had the most recent version, but maybe something was damaged along the way. It seemed so odd--everything was there. All my custom searches--and I have a lot of them--worked fine. It was just the tags. Anyway, back to normal. I appreciate you taking the time to respond. Thanks again.
  3. I have about 100 tags in Evernote Personal covering about 5,700 notes. I edit about a dozen online newsletters, each of which has 100s of articles, and use Evernote to keep track of who wrote each article, what its status is, when it was published, and so on. So I can click on the tag "Dan" to find all the articles Dan wrote. I click on "Real Estate" to find all the Real Estate newsletter articles. This is how I've worked it for more than five years. Starting an hour ago, I click on a tag in the left margin--and nothing happens. I don't get a list. I know the notes are there, because if I do a search of "Dan" I get his articles. I do search of "Real Estate" and I get all the Real Estate articles. But nothing happens when I click on the tags. Obviously, just finding these by "search" is not a long-term solution. I need the tags to work! This is the desktop version. The tags work on the online version but extremely slowly. Any suggestions? If I reload the desktop app will I lose my data? BTW: I have Windows 11.

  5. That did it!! Thank you, thank you! I had only used my personal account for this. But a few years back I shared it with my work email in case something happened. It never occurred to me that that would have this effect. I could still edit my notes and they were always updated in either place. Only that one feature had disappeared. I would've thought it was an identity issue if I couldn't access anything, but just that? Anyway, once more, thanks. Everything is working as it should now.
  6. I appreciate your help. Thank you for taking the time to do this. However, this does not work. When I click on the three dots the only option I get is "add to shortcuts." I do not get a "move" option and I cannot even drag one tag under another. See screenshot below. However, I did find when I create a NEW tag I can do this. It's just the old ones that don't work. After going back and forth with Evernote tech support, we came to the reluctant conclusion that in some cases--such as mine--older tags are not compatible with newer Evernote code. Even legacy systems don't work. They are trying to see if there is a way to bring old notes in synch with the new code, but are no optimistic. I'll be spending the rest of the day exploring how to move to Microsoft Notes. I really liked Evernote and am very sorry to leave it. However, without the nesting options, using my tags (I have hundreds of them) is just not possible. Thanks again!
  7. I have exactly the same problem (I'm posting this in Nov. 2022). So they still haven't fixed it. I opened a support ticket, but they're not optimistic about fixing it. When I create NEW tags I can nest them, but the more than 100 old tags refuse to nest. Not in the new version, the legacy version, or online. Some coding error was made--the old tags are not designed to merge with a new version. It's a nightmare sort through all my tags with no structure. If they can't fix this--and it doesn't look good--I'll see about exporting to another program. I've always loved Evernote, but this feature is essential and I can't do without it.
  8. Thanks to everyone for their help. I did get online with someone very helpful at Evernote. We worked out the search function issue, but can't seem to get the nesting issue to work out, either with the desktop client or online. Since the online version doesn't work either, there's something in the data. Anyway, they're passing it on to someone on the technical team, who will get back to me in a few days. We'll see how it goes. Thanks again!
  9. Getting stranger! I reloaded the Windows client and now I see a saved search button after I did my search. I saved the search but it didn't tell me where! I'm getting the feeling Evernote is on its way out...
  10. It says version 10.48.4, copyright 2022, so I assume it's current. Here's another oddness: I do a lot of searches and I turned those searches into shortcuts. For example, I want to search all the stories that Jack wrote on Tax in 2021. I use the filter function for "Jack" "Tax" and "2021." That still works. But I used to be able to save that search as a shortcut. I can't anymore. I have to set up the filters each time. In the instructions there should be a "three dot" option to save the search as a shortcut, but it isn't there. I'm thinking that somehow this is a version conflict. I'll download the client and try again. Thank you!
  11. Thanks for this thoughtful and detailed response! This is helping me track the problem. I do get the three-dot menu, but as before, my only choice is to add it to shortcuts. I do NOT have the "move tag" choice. I have two theories: 1. This option is no longer available at my membership level. 2. In restoring the data, there was a conflict between new and old versions, which leads to this problem. I'm going to upgrade and if that doesn't work, I'll try chatting with customer support, which may put me in touch with a programmer.
  12. I've been using Evernote for more than 5 years, very happily. I use the the desktop version to manage a small e-newsletter business. We publish thousands of articles, written by scores of writers, on dozens of topics, and most articles go into multiple newsletters. As a result, I have hundreds of tags. I created additional tags to organize them. For example, I had a tag for each author and nested them under the tag "AUTHORS." I run 26 newsletters a year in a dozen categories, and list each year's tags under the tag "YEAR: 2021" and so on. It worked very well. Earlier this week, my computer completely crashed. It was unfixable, so I bought I new one and reloaded Evernote. I was careful, so all my data was easy to reload. I want to stress that as far as I can tell, ever single note and tag is there--except for each nested tag head. So AUTHORS is gone and "YEAR: 2021" is gone, etc. I thought, OK, it'll only take me an hour or so to rebuild them, but the system won't let me. That is, I recreated "AUTHORS." I right-click on it and it asks me if I want to create a NEW tag under it, but not move an OLD one. I then clicked on the tag for my writer "Jack." The only option I get is to move it to shortcuts. No option to move it under any other tag. I then tried to drag "Jack" under AUTHORS. But it wouldn't let me. So my questions are: 1. Is there a way nesting is still available? 2. If not, is there some other organization feature? Because right now I just have several hundred tags that need to be organized. Thanks to anyone who can help.
  13. That makes a lot of sense--thank you! I see now I'd have separate tags for the mailing date (every other Monday) and for one of my 8 newsletters. I'll soon be laying out my 2023 newsletters, so a new year might be a good time to do that.
  14. Thanks for your quick reply. Yes, I remember the legacy version and was sorry to see that ability gone. Thanks also for the tips on advanced syntax. If it was just a couple of tags, that would work, but every 2 weeks I have to move too many to make that efficient. Basically, I'd like this to work like Excel: I can highlight 5 rows, or 5 columns, and move or delete all of them at once, instead of moving each cell.
  15. I use Evernote to keep track of articles I use to create newsletters. We have hundreds of articles spread out over 26 issues a year in about a dozen newsletters, so it's a lot! For the most part, Evernote works very well. However, I move items around a lot and it's annoying to have to drag items one at a time. See the attached document: As soon as August 1 comes around (as noted in left column) I will move all items being published that day from "scheduled" to "sent." I have to do this one at a time. What I'd like to do is, as shown, in the left column, is basically CTRL + Click "BE--08-01-2022" and then "CE--08-01-2022" and so on and then drag all of those items at once from "scheduled" to "sent" in one move. If you have more questions about this, let me know. Thanks! Evernote sample.doc
  16. Thanks for your quick response, Mike P. Much appreciated. Basically, I have a tag called "Current Issues" and under it in the hierarchy are a dozen or so tags referring to my current newsletters. I have another tag called "Past issues" and under it, in the hierarchy, are tags referring to past newsletters. I periodically want to grab all the tags under Current Issues and move them en masse to Past Issues. I can no longer do that. You pointed out that "you can no longer manage multiple tags together" and that's exactly what I want to do! Again, thanks for pointing this out.
  17. In the old version of Windows desktop, I could select multiple tags and drag them using the Control button. Since I run a bi-weekly newsletter, every other week I'd drag all notes tagged with the current issue into a section marked "Already Published." I can't do that any more. I have to drag these one at a time. Am I missing something?
  18. Thanks! The Notebook-level solution worked and solved my problem. Much appreciated.
  19. We've had some personnel changes at my company so I want to update what notes I'm sharing, and with whom. But I can't figure it out. I open a note (see example) and see the people icon with the number four. It says 4 people can access this note and to click to view permissions. But I just get a dialog box asking if I want to add more people. I can't figure out who those four are. Is there any way of figuring this out?
  20. Thanks--this works fine. It's so strange though that so many tasks that were easy to do in the previous version now require awkward workarounds.
  21. I have a number of complex searches--for example, I want notes that have two specific tags and do NOT have one specific tag. In the old version, I could further refine this by searching, just in those results, for the word "taxation" for example within the text of the notes. I can't seem to do that anymore. The instructions for the tax I want to exclude is already in the search box, and if I put the word "taxation" in that search box it knocks out that "-tag" instruction, thus changing the character of the search. In the old system, I could do this. I did it a lot. Is there any way in the new system that I could search for a specific word after getting my saved search results? There is no filter option for a word within the text.
  22. I used to be able to sort columns, earliest to latest by creation or modified date. Now, the sorting often doesn't work when I have the results of a search. I can only see the latest--I click on the header and nothing changes. It freezes that way.
  23. Where did these go in the new desktop version? There used to be a section in the left margin. Now sometimes I click in the search box and my saved searches are there--and sometimes they're not. I have to close and reopen to find them. Any ideas?
  24. Just downloaded the latest Windows version an hour ago. Search still not working. This just adds to my overall disappointment with the new desktop version, which actually ADDS steps to my most used tasks. Who redesigns an app that ADDS steps!!??
