You can use task manager to shut down the EN process and then restart.  PITA, but quicker than logging out.

When it crashes, the process disappears from the Task Manager and clicking on the taskbar icon, or choosing from start will not relaunch it. ?

  2. I installed 6.15 beta 2 because support said a problem where content was being overwritten by other note content was fixed in this release.  I was running 6.14 beta (something).  Two issues:

    1) Seems to have more performance issues than 6.14

    2) It's crashing all the time.  Unfortunately, after crashing, it will not restart.  I have to log out, switch user, or restart to be able to launch again.  Huge time waster.  If it does it again I'm going back to 6.14.

Hmm, I don't know, on that site Trello, Workflowy and Google Keep are rated higher than Evernote.

Supposedly Trello is ranked 1st, but I don't buy it.

I have not yet located a post of people leaving for Trello, but I have seen a few of people leaving for Workflowy.

I have used Trello for years.  It consists of boards which contain lists which contain cards.  Cards can represent nearly anything, and they can contain content, but it would be a monumental task to manage information at the scale many of us use Evernote, in Trello.  I used it for project management, including using to to run an agile software development project.  It has many nice features, but isn't in the same class of application as Evernote.

  4. I brought this up before; but now I have a problem with note content overwritten, and really need support.  However, I have the following situation:

Evernote Windows ( -> Help & Learning --> web --> says I need to log in --> log in --> Says I'm logged out --> log in --> Web Client --> Help & Learning --> says I need to log in --> click Send Us Email --> Says I'm logged out

I've tried various permutations including clicking on the red text for "Improved Experience" to no avail; same infinite loop

What I'm hoping is someone from EN sees this and can reach out to me, as I'm seeing an old bug where notes are being overwritten with content of other notes; but in the past they could be recovered w/history; today this is not the case and therefore I'm losing content.20180809_EN_support_issue.thumb.jpg.a1bccd7e3df3f8d4b2fa84271a3ef3fb.jpg

I'm still seeing this, but most times if I just reload the page then re-clip it works.  The first time it just spins.  I keep forgetting to grab an affected url but will do so.

This appeared to be fixed by updating Chrome, but today I hit another one.  First time to this page clipper was stuck; reloading fixed it.

  6. I'm seeing a lot of pages that just won't clip from Chrome--the icon just spins and says Saving Your Clip forever.  Tried clip selection; clip article, clip page.  None work.  This began after this update.  Sometimes if I try again, it works, and can be very fast.  Sometimes the only solution is to copy/paste manually.  This will be difficult to repro but I can try to find some pages as examples.  Anyone else seeing this?

Thanks. It's the page that says I'm logged out that I never see. Peculiar. I wonder if it could be related to cookies, ad-blocking, etc.??

Well, I tried an experiment wherein I opened IE11 instead of Chrome; since I rarely use it I deleted all history, cookies--everything; then restarted and tried from there; same result.  Perhaps it is a security setting; hadn't explored that.  I finally submitted via my iPhone app.

The new "log in for better help" has puzzled me a bit. It never knows that I'm already logged in, and it never seems to offer any better help even if I log in (again). But I haven't run into this before.

If I'm reading that right, you're saying that logging in on the Evernote Help Website kicks you back into the Windows client?? That would be odd indeed. Or does it send you to your notes in the Evernote Web interface? A screenshot might help, particularly of the page on which you're logging in.

Accessing help from either the web app, or the windows client, sends to a web page that says I need to log in to access support, clicking on log in at the top kicks me to a page saying I'm logged out, logging in there sends me back to the web app.  Circle complete.

Maybe fully log out of the browser, close the browser and then open and try the link?

I tried switching to IE, which I only use tor rare occasions when I have Chrome problems.  I deleted all cookies etc, then restarted the browser.  Same loop.  Finally submitted via my iPhone and the app there.  Basically I'm asking if there is some way those of us who want to remain with EN and are troubled by the issues, direction, and silence, could help.  Clearly, the forums are just self directed for the most part (at least those I participate in).

BTW, is there a GA later than 6.12 that is a good choice for Windows?

  10. This has happened before, but now I cannot find a way out.  From Windows client, selecting Help & Learning opens a web page asking me to log in for "improved" support.  Clicking log in takes me to a page informing me I've logged out.  Logging in from there takes me to the application in my account.  Infinite loop.

Can't submit a ticket; but plan to hack by sending email to saved email I have.  BTW, clicking on send email on the web leads to the same situation.

    Using Chrome.

  11. Decided to try experimenting with Notion.  A few issues right away.  Exported ~ 1000 notes from EN to html.  Tried to import; it crashed after 500 or so; and decided to put them all in the trash.  Not a real loss, because on inspection, no attached content comes in anyway.  Their import guide warns images won't come over, but my PDFs didn't either.  That's a killer; out of 23,791 notes, I have 4788 w/PDFs, and more with various other content attached.  Also, Notion truncated note titles, and of course the detailed info that is kept with the notes goes away.  There is also a cap on free usage; it appears that just importing all my notes without attached content would hit 100% based on what it says I used in my test.  Appears a personal account w/unlimited is $4/month.  But unless there is a better migration, I don't see going that way soon.

  12. In my case, there is a VERY high correlation between "Not Responding" and 100% Disk utilization in Task Manager.  So there is some reason to suspect EN wants more I/O.  Not guaranteed, however, as if it is poorly designed and generates a huge amount of queued I/Os, it might just max out the wait stack no matter what.  I'll keep you all posted if I proceed, for the benefit of others.
