  1. Thanks, but then still a list of notes will be generated where the so-called locations are all scrambled up. I want them kept together. 'Home', does not offer anything near a solution to this subject.
  2. One of the differences between a notebook and a tag, is that a note can have multiple tags attached to it, but only one notebook where it's stored in. So obviously a task has to be done in one single place and can therefore not be replaced by tags.
  3. ... after stating that you're 'really not sure that sorting by location is entirely useful or intuitive'... so that's blowing hot and cold in one phrase. The force before v10, was its versatility. Everybody got to implement his own way of working. I read enough posts on this forum to understand that it got very, very hard for a lot of people, and I notice when problems get posted here, they quickly get marginalized for not working the way the non-complainers do. The address bar on my browser for this page says '...discussion.evernote.com...' What shall we discuss then? How wonderful and flawless this software is?
  4. I use the windows version, but I don't want a view for one specific notebook. What I want is a view on the notes inside a stack called 'errands' for example, which contains notebooks for different places to go to. All the notes in that stack should be viewable in one simple view, sorted by notebook/place to go. In previous version of evernote this was peanuts
  5. My notes are stored in notebooks that carry the names of the place where I will perform the task (following the GTD principles). Problem in v10: as far as I can see, there's no way to sort the notes by location, so they're all scrambled up. Actually, there's only 3 fields you can sort upon; title, date update and date created. Why only those 3? There are so many fields on one note that can be useful to sort on...
  6. Why assume that this is not useful, just because you don't do that? The purpose of flexible notebook and tag creation by the users themselves, is to allow them to configure their own personal workflow, so they might just have a very good reason to sort by location. I used to (very easily) check this way if my current title syntax was consistent for all active notes (the inactive ones stored in a separate notebook, could still have an aberrant syntax).
  7. So as I understand, the way to change the criteria for a saved search, is to create a new saved search and delete the old one. Problem is that the name of the old saved search can't be used anymore. I tried renaming to the original name of the (deleted) saved search, and it returns an error.
  8. Purpose is to have an orderly view on the reminder list sorted on the reminder date with just one click.
  9. that's 3 clicks, columns should be sorted by simply clicking on them
  10. Thanks Boot17 for that extensive and constructive answer. Thanks for the ctrl-click on a link to open in a new window, that just did the trick. But the reminder tab on my UI is definitely not visible on filtered results.
  11. When v10 arrived somewhere in 2020, I tried it and very soon rolled back because of the sheer number of functionality that had disappeared. I thought it might be better to just wait until the '‘teething pains' were gone. Three years later and I was finally forced this week to install the latest version because my older version was too 'outdated'. That expression could not have been more cynical. I am completely amazed with the immense regression that this is. I have never seen any software where an 'update' of three years later is actually taking back so much basic functionality and not even giving anything interesting in return. Three years have gone by and all these 'teething pains' are simply still there and unaddressed. For example; There is no way to save a view for every saved search. So every time you use another shortcut, you have to manually adjust the view that is best suited for it. Opening a linked note in a new window by holding shift when you click the link: gone! Result: numerous more clicking to get back where you were originally. Sync button: gone! Result: wait and see. Sorting reminders; extremely cumbersome, only available through that weird reminder tab that doesn't have any other use, and is visible only when all the notes are visible. My god this is such an irritating one. The app is way slower as well, showing frequent lagging. UI font is gigantic; the amount of scrolling is just crazy. These items I noticed after one day of use only. Evernote became very stiff and what I find very worrisome, is that in three years all this is still just there. What's the message here?
  12. I have delayed the update to version 10 for a couple of years due to this, and now that I finally had to (evernote constantly warning me that my version was too much out of date), I have to discover that the same issue is still there. How am I supposed to find the reminders of a specific date in a scrambled up list of more than 100 notes? It's crazy...
  13. Have been thorougly looking for a decent external editor or mindmapping software that collapses lists. The only one doing a decent job on this area is Onenote, but of course it would be ridiculous connecting a Onenote page to evernote. Actualy in my opinion there's a number of things that note taking software is obviously just supposed to handle on itself. One of those is the ability of collapsing lists.
  14. Count me in, it's practically the only feature that makes me remember Onenote once in a while. It would make a huge difference in regard to clear readability inside a note. (that being said, I also sincerely hope the new 10 version soon gets at the level of 6.25 though, because as it is now, it's a downgrade more than an upgrade)
  15. I just reverted to the last functional version 6.25, will wait until it's really ready...
  16. I noticed it became impossible to sort by reminderdate. It's possible to click on the column header but nothing happens.
