When it has happened to me, it has been copying next in Evernote and pasting it in Evernote. I don't remember if it's within the same note. It's sporadic.

I had it happen again within Evernote and was able to get it to go away by choosing "Simplify Formatting."

I was having that problem too - cutting and pasting within the same note in Evernote on my Mac and getting " " - but it has stopped. One of the things I had tried was clicking on "Simplify formatting." I had been reluctant to do that because I didn't want to lose bold. But if memory serves, I kept my bolds and the issue stopped.

I am having trouble with this in Evernote itself. If I move text around it adds all kinds of substations for spaces and periods.
