So now I'm being forced to the new web interface.  Is there any way to view in classic mode?  Its unbelievable what has been done to dumb it down...I cant even find notes I just created.  I agree with ineluki...I may have to jump ship if something isnt done soon.

For some of our long time users the option to switch back temporarily still exists.  You can find this option in https://www.evernote.com/Settings.action.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thank you everyone for the spirited discussion on this topic. As you know we have a lot of feature ideas and requests that come in from all of our users. Unfortunately, this is not a feature that we are planning to add in the near future.

Nancy, thanks for resetting our expectations.  Not what I wanted to hear, but at least now I can quit butting my head against a brick wall that will never give.

You'll have to admit it is shocking to hear this, given that this request started at least 4 years ago, and has had 320 posts.

Perhaps there were 1 or 2, but I don't recall anyone being against the feature.

I do wonder one thing though.  Can you name 3 features that have been added recently in response to user requests?

Please exclude the Web Beta from this, since it is just working its way back to restoring all of the features of the main Web client.

Thanks for understanding, JMichael. Unfortunately, with the limited resources we have on our side when building out the product, we have to make tough calls on which features to add to the product, which bugs to address, and cost out not only what is implementable in one client, but in all of our clients. Right now our focus is on improving the New Web Client. We've been addressing the feedback users have been giving us over the last year. Hopefully you've noticed that every release note in the last couple of months were design changes all based on user feedback that actually came from the discussion forums & our surveys. We still have a lot of work, but we try to address the biggest pain points first & hopefully through the future releases, we can trickle in more new feature requests. As for the length & date of this thread, unfortunately it predates me, so I can't speak to why it's been going on for so long.  Either way, let's make sure we keep this type of feedback coming and I'll be sure to bring it back to the team.

Unfortunately, this is not a feature that we are planning to add in the near future. The feature request, however, is heard loud and clear. We understand the need and see its value. We will continue to consider it in the list of potential features to add as we continue to improve the product. Thanks again for being active in the community and providing us feedback. We really appreciate it. We'll be sure to update this thread should this feature get implemented later down the line.

Did this get fixed? I'm banging my head on the wall as that might be an easier way to recall web pages...

This will be fixed in the next release.

Please make sure this is fixed in ALL platforms/clients, especially EN Mac and EN Win.

    Hi JMichael,

I can't speak for the other products, but will share the feedback to the respective teams. We will be fixing this in the web client.

  5. I've been getting this regularly since putting in a new wifi nic on my desktop, although I have also had it happen sporadically over the last year or so. Currently Chrome 41.0.2272.89 64bit on Linux. My wifi has been glitching out and it seems if I'm editing a note at the time I'll get a heap of duplicated notes. No conflicts, just duplications. The oldest ones seem to be the most up to date (hinting that the later dupes are actually from earlier save attempts so were perhaps on a stack or queue). Also these are pre-existing notes that had been saved in previous sessions, not new notes.

By the way, to save sitting through 4mins of video to find out - Jody's issue ended up being what looks like a misconfiguration of the scansnap software (import folder defined twice in configuration) so not related to the OP's bug report.

Nancy it might be worth noting that a lot of these duplicates appear to be identical at least in the note body - if what you say is true and the note conflict path is being triggered it might be worth making the conflict detection a bit smarter - eg, if other note == this note, no conflict.

For that reason I suspect it's not actually the conflict resolution codepath that is being triggered, but simply network retries that are being a bit stupid about whether they are still valid or not.

Thank you for the detailed report, Ashley. We'll continue to try to optimize this area moving forward.

  6. Thanks for all of the reports, everyone. We will continue to try to reduce the frequency of this case for folks. Unfortunately, right now the Evernote clients behave slightly differently when dealing with note conflicts on sync. If you see duplicate notes in the Web Client, it is because there was a note conflict that could not be resolved. You'll see that some of the Evernote clients will append the conflicting note to the bottom of a conflicting note, or other clients will save the conflicting note in a Conflicting Note folder. In the Web Client, a 2nd note is generated.

We will continue to try our best to reduce these cases.

  7. Hi Nancy (nanphan),  in terms of "If folks have any consistent ways to repro this, please flag it with us"........I'm not sure exactly what you were asking in terms of details........but the issue occurs every time I scan something.  I am willing to print/copy an error/operation log if you direct me where to copy the information from.  Thanks

I will follow up with the scan team to see if this is a known issue.

    Thanks,

    Nancy

  8. Thank you for the feedback, everyone.  Whether you'd like to call this a Beta or a Preview, we are continually adding more and more functionality to into the Beta with each update. We hope that as more features get added and more usability problems are addressed, the product will become better and better. Please do let us know any new issues you see with the features that have already been implemented.

  9. The problem I'm having started off with not being able access my encrypted note on the Web client.

First I double clicked the grey password encryption bar like I normally do on the Desktop client and nothing happen. Out of frustration, I clicked it quickly a couple more times and then it suddenly disappeared.

    Hi skittlespop123,

We're sorry to hear that this happened.  The Web Client Beta does not support decryption of content created from other clients at this moment but is a feature we will be adding in future releases. It is supported if you opt out of the Beta and use the standard Web Client.

Double clicking, etc should not have caused it to disappear. What I suspect may have happened is that while clicking it got selected and a keystroke deleted it. For example a space or an enter would have replaced the content.

Are you currently a premium user?  If you are you can use your Mac Client or the Web Client (not the Beta) to go back in your version history. If this is really important information, then I can flag this with a member from our support team and we can assist you in retrieving a previous version.

Let me know how we can help.

  10. Hi MikeFlores,

    I'm seeing this in a very specific scenario and was wondering if you can confirm that this is the case for you. Would like to make sure we get the exhaustive list of scenarios that are having issues;

If I do the following steps I can see the issue you mention where we have extra spaces. We can fix this in a future release:

    • Tab (On a line with no bullet)
    • Then Click "Bulleted List button"

I do not see the issue when I do what you said:

    • Click "Bulleted List" button
    • Type something
    • Enter
    • See a new line with a bullet
    • Tab
    • Type something else
    • (There are no extra spaces in this case)
  11. Thank you everyone for reporting this again. We will try to reproduce this on our side. Bugs like this are hard to track down but we'll try our best to see if there are any additional things we can do here. Thank you for your patience.

  12.

As I've stated, I tried to undo instantly and several times. Less than a second I think.

I think Evernote locks some extremely important features behind a paywall. Not any form of note history for free?

Hi Super Meat Boy, we're going to try to see if we can help you recover what we can of your note. Please keep an eye out for someone from customer support reaching out to you soon.

@nanphan -- that raises a question I've had in the back of my mind: does Ctrl-Z/Undo stop working if there's been a sync since the original change(s)? That's relative to your "Did a long time elapse before you tried to undo the action?" question. Thanks.

Jefito, syncing shouldn't affect Ctrl+Z. I asked about the elapsed time mainly because we wanted to make sure this issue wasn't masking as something else. We have seen some rare incidents where the note could not be saved due to other factors such as intermittent loss of internet etc. Usually you will see a warning message when this happens. We recently fixed these issues, but would like to make sure customers are still not running into ti.

  13. Hi Super Meat Boy.

Sorry to hear about this. We do support Ctrl+Z in both the Beta & current web client so it's not very clear how it did not work. Did a long time elapse before you tried to undo the action? Anything more you can tell us will help us better investigate the issue. But you are correct in that version history & recovery is supported as a premium feature.

  14. Can't believe this has gone - the single most important feature for me.

In fact, I thought that's what Evernote was for - clip sites, pages, articles etc and then easily be able to get back to them.

I've been a premium member for many, many years this kind of things suggests I need to find an alternative. Any suggestions?

    Hi fratony,

I just wanted to follow up with you and emphasize that this scenario is important to us and we will address the ease of access to the original URL in a future release. For now, the workaround is to click on the "i" and go to the Information Panel and copy the URL. We understand this is unideal and will be fixing this soon. Since this is still a Beta, we don't have all of the features available yet. If you'd like, you can roll back to the non-beta version of the webclient by following these instructions:

    >>You lost internet connection while editing
    Yes. Comcast and wifi.

    Hi LoveHateEvernote!   :)

We fixed this bug for this specific case in last night's release. We are still digging to find other cases where this happens, but hopefully you'll no longer get multiple notes when you lose your internet connection. Let us know if this happens again. This is an important issue for us to resolve.

  16. Hi Assaf,

Thanks for reporting this issue. We've seen this happen before and had a bug fix a couple of weeks ago but it looks like it hasn't gone away entirely yet.  Can you help us understand a little bit more about your setup so we can help identify the root cause?

    • When you created this note, do you remember if any of the following could have happened?
      • Multiple browser tabs were open with the note being edited
      • Your Mac or Windows Evernote client was open with the note being edited
      • Other people were looking at the note the same time you did because it was shared
      • You lost internet connection while editing
    • What browser are you using?

Thanks in advance. Your feedback will help us better understand how to resolve this issue.
