Tasks live in notes so it doesn't really make sense to move them into a "folder".

However, it's easy enough to move a task into another note so you could just set up a note called archived tasks and move completed tasks into that note

I would prefer to see an option where completed tasks move to the bottom of the note, so all active tasks are grouped together.

Hi.  Thanks for sharing your conversation to date.  Since Support deal with a wide range of users with "variable" internet skills,  it makes a great deal of sense to ensure new requests go through the basic fixes first.  They also apologised for the current slow service.  If you're responding with "tried all that,  still not working" they'll presumably come back with more.

For the moment I'm not having any issues with attachments (that I'm aware of) which suggests that internet speeds or local malware protections could be what ails you.  I would have suggested trying the installed version too,  but if you keep on talking to Support I'm sure they'll get to it...

When you say you aren’t having any issues, can you confirm for me that you mean in Evernote WEB not a desktop or mobile application?
    Thanks.

    Hi there,

    Evernote Customer Support here!

We are currently restructuring the Evernote Customer Support department to ensure we can deliver a better service to you and all our customers. Some delay in response time is expected. We apologize for the inconvenience.

If you still have doubts after following the instructions and suggestions available there and if you still need support, please reply to this email making sure to include the following information:

    • As many details as possible regarding your request and experience
    • All the steps that you took to resolve your doubts or issues after referring to the Help & Learning resources.

Without a significant level of detail, we won’t be able to process your request quickly.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation very much!

    Hello Peter,

Thanks for reaching out and for flagging up this issue.

We're sorry to hear about the inconvenience you've been facing and we'd be pleased to help you out. Before proceeding with further investigations, we suggest carrying out the following steps, as they'll help us better isolate the issue and rule out any of the following root causes (if you have already followed them, feel free to give them another try):

    • Restart your device. A simple restart can fix some errors.
    • Sign out and sign back into your Evernote account.
    • Make sure you’re using a strong Internet connection, possibly switching to a different one.
    • Make sure your browser is updated to its very latest version. You may check this out from within your browser’s settings.
    • Relaunch your current browser.
    • Clear your browser’s cache. Instructions may vary according to the browser. You may find the different steps at this link.
    • If the issue persists after restarting the browser, switch to a different one.

Should you still be facing the same after performing the above steps, please don't hesitate to get back to us, possibly including a screenshot or a screen recording of it.

We remain at your disposal in the meantime.

    Kind regards,

    Evernote Support Team

The Images I have in my notes will not load or download in Evernote Web. The exist in the card or snippet view but only show a placeholder icon in the notes. When I select download I get an error. When I refresh it doesn’t help. I cannot include the activity log from my work computer.

    Windows 10 version 22H2
Chrome Version 119.0.6045.106 (Official Build) (64-bit)

    • Images as attachments: "image could not be rendered properly"
    • try to save attachment: "Failed to save file"
    • Images and pdf previews load/are loaded in the snippets and card views, but not when you go to the note.
    • It doesn't matter if the image was uploaded through Evernote mobile app, desktop app, through a third party (Rocketbook) or emailed. The results are the same.
    • All pdfs state have the placeholder in the note but where the pdf would normally be displayed/previewed, it states, "Couldn't display this pdf file"

And what shall it do ?

When it existed, I found it pretty useless, except for quickly grabbing a note. And for this other apps exist, so no need to wait.

Using another app means I have the extra steps of adding those notes or audio recordings to Evernote. I want to be able to remove those steps. I want to be able to see note shortcuts for notes I regularly refer to, and so much more. The watch has become more “standalone” than it was previously so there is great potential for EN in this space.

    1. "It's been almost a year...." Yes. And things have changed.
    2. Since you've got a new installation, you've got the latest version of the Evernote app, and as @agsteele said, a couple of months ago Evernote introduced a new data structure that is constantly being synced to the Evernote servers. To test this, open a note in the Windows app and in another Evernote client simultaneously, such as the Web client in a browser (https://www.evernote.com/client/web). Edit the note in one and watch the edits appear in the other. In most cases, it would take longer to click a sync button than for the sync itself to happen.
    3. If you still want that sense of command, Ctrl+R will reload Evernote, and sync it in the process. This was mentioned in the 3rd post in this thread.

    Which works perfectly…with fast internet.
the minute your internet connection is slow (poor cell signal, high traffic wifi, rural connection) syncing doesn’t happen and when it tries to sync, it can actually delete new notes that were created during poor connection.

I've never experienced missing data in a sync. All or nothing...

    I think I'd open a support ticket.

Then you sir are the lucky one. I have two iPhones (11 and 12) and iMac and and EN Web that I use daily and the last few months have been an incredible struggle of taking an entire day to get the notes to match across devices. And removing cookies is a terrible solutions as it takes 30 minutes to get EN loaded in a browser again at work, if I am lucky!

EN always syncs the whole note when is saves changes. If the note is very large, the risk increases that there are conflicts. The best measure against this effect is to break down large text notes into smaller ones. You can create a TOC table-of-content note to be able to go directly to every chapter, and links at the beginning and end of each note to go forward and backward.

That makes a lot of sense. I have the issue of syncing/note conflicts between my iPhone and later going to EN Web and finding my changes aren't there, or in reverse. I have a couple of lists I use daily and they are perhaps larger than they should be if this is the sync process. Is it safe to assume a large number of tasks in a note exacerbate the problem? What about note links - also more data to sync?

  9. Further trials how shown that it is limited to text within a table. The previous version of EN would allow me to encrypt multiple words and punctuation within an individual cell the table in one encryption set. Now, I cannot select multiple words within a cell but can encrypt individual words.

And I have no intention of showing the note that I am trying to encrypt, that defeats the purpose.

And now regretting it was not the Garmin ?

There are sufficient options to grab something on the Watch, and pass it on to EN in a second step. Not as good as an app that does it on one go, but for sure good enough to be used.

Oh I agree! There are significant other reasons now, less at the time, as to why I am still happy I went Apple. However the feature that made it a no-contest decision at the time was my Coworker explaining to me that his wife was enjoying EN for Apple Watch.

If I were a Podcaster and had to fill my weekly hour, I would talk about whatever crosses my mind as well.

The reason is probably much simpler: The new clients both for desktop and mobile are offering a unified experience. Good for starters, but they axed ALL special devices support to make this happen. The Watch app disappeared, the iPad is not supported, same with pen devices on the Android side, and Windows tablet users have a problem because the desktop app is not provisioning for the use of a pencil or a touchscreen .

This is the base line: An app build for a unified experience, avoiding all platform specific properties. Not unfounded Podcaster gossip …

"probably much simpler?" sounds like unfounded gossip too wouldn't you say? I was looking to spark a discussion and see if there were any other sources for why the EN app hasn't returned. I too am frustrated as I used the app on my watch. You don't need such negativity when we are in this together.

This is the source/podcast that I was listening to if you are invested in the full context I was trying to convey.

    https://9to5mac.com/2022/01/11/apple-watch-apps-abandonment/

  12. I was recently listing to a Podcast that discussed that several companies have pulled WatchOS versions of their apps because "that isn't what people are using their watches for" and they specifically mentioned EN as one of the companies.

I would agree that EN Apple Watch users are not a huge percentage of the population.

I thought the app was pulled to get it ready for Tasks and Calendar, but I'm almost certain that it isn't coming back.

Did anyone else get surveyed as to how they use EN for Apple Watch?

I don't really understand what you want that the top list or side list view doesn't already gives you. Why EN insist on calling notebook "location" I have no idea.

    image.thumb.png.afbeed1587ce96a72020666cee874808.png

Not sure what “View” you are on there. I use EN for Mac and EN Web (equally as I can’t have EN installed on my work pc). When I select NOTES from the Home Screen, I see a list of notes by last updated that I scroll through to see if I tagged them already. It will list the first few tags, but doesn’t show what “location” they are in.

  14. When viewing my notes in a list to ensure I have added tags, I can easily see that tags have been applied to the note, but I cannot see what Notebook the note is in without selecting it. If there was a way to have the text name of the notebook, or some other way of distinguishing Notebooks when in Notes view, that would be great. Sometimes when emailing into EN, the Notes do not go to my default notebook and I have to go back and review that the note is in the correct notebook, moving it when necessary.

Hi. Before the table of contents option, we selected a bunch of notes, copied the note links, and pasted those into a note. In my opinion. that was never terribly difficult, so the table of contents option was nice, but not necessary. Give it a try, and I think you’ll find it is pretty easy to do. I often link up clusters of notes this way by appending the list of note links to the end of each note, creating a kind of mini wiki of related content within your database.

Sure, that doesn't seem difficult at all..depending on the size of the Notebook you want to have a TOC for! For a few hundred, 50 at a time is just a few minutes of sorting where you left off for each set of 50 links you can copy. My most used notebook has over 1500 notes, I would prefer we had the TOC feature back so that I didn't have to copy 50 links each time.
