  1. Depends. I'm using it 'full time' instead of legacy now - and I'd be what people call a power user with 50,000+ notes and "all day use". HOWEVER - my use of it has diminished drastically because it although it does work, it works much more slowly than legacy. I've offloaded various flows into Notion and Todoist which where always previously all done in Evernote. It "works", but slowly and not without frustration.
  2. A major problem is this - speed of internet connection - and for the DESKTOP app - this should NOT be an issue. It's downloaded all of our notes and attachments - there is no need for constant connections back to the cloud data. I work 'mobile' a lot - and sometimes have spotty wifi - or don't even have wifi - and it is a BRUTAL experience. I waited over 2 minutes to delete a few (maybe 5 or 6) notes the other day. Whatever EN is doing in the background on the desktop apps needs a major overhaul and some streamlining. We all can't be sitting with direct fiber connections constantly.
  3. The real question here is, did you take a chance and draft this in Evernote before posting?
  4. Nimbus Notes I will say is quite good. Evernote really needs to take notice if they haven't already. However, something that really makes me question Nimbus is something so simple -- I have notes in EN that are generated by IFTTT triggers - they dump into Evernote throughout the day based on time, location, etc. When I setup the same functions to Nimbus, they get their, but their ios app says the note was created with an 'old editor'. I can use the web or desktop to open the app, or let iOS convert the note. What a mess! There should be no need for this - that should be auto handled on the back end seamlessly. Despite numerous reports to Nimbus, they refuse to deal wtih this 'minor', but 'huge' problem. For some reason, this problem alone leaves me a very uneasy feeling with Nimbus. Tl:DR - There is no perfect app - unless you're a developer and you're building yourself a app that does exactly what you want, and how you want it. Otherwise, other apps will be fast enough for some, not fast enough for others. Too many bloated features for you, but yet not enough features for me. But since we're in an EN forum, let's just hope Evernote gets back on track to being the best!
  5. How are you having issues with Legacy? I've got 50,000 notes and it runs fine (Windows). Be sure to close the v10 app before moving large numbers of notes & notebooks around and ensure Legacy is fully sync'd to your computer (it might take a few minutes/hour even to download your 3000 notes).
  6. Just a reminder that search still works in the Legacy editions of Evernote.
  7. It's not so much tormenting myself as it is wanting to ensure the Evernote team knows that there are users like us "power users" that want to use the latest and greatest - but can't because of the problems. They tease "better performance", but are not delivering (at least not to us all). v10 should be the latest and greatest Evernote.. no company should be looking to release a product or service saying it is "sub-par" to their last model - can you imagine if Apple comes out in March and says, hey everybody, here's our new iPad Pro line up.. it's worse than our last released model, but the same price. Less features, but hey, it's shiny & new so deal with it as-is. Regardless - I certainly do run Legacy to get things done, but at the same time want to use v10 to see what's new and how well it performs (or if it does)... and maybe, just maybe "the squeaky wheel" will get the grease one day (soon hopefully) and Evernote v10 will be amazing for everyone.
  8. Testing 10.7.6 - still a disaster for performance. Release notes say performance is improved and "new note" is quicker. 1) PAINFULLY SLOW: on this test machine - 8gb ram, about 50gb free on the SSD, it takes FOURTEEN SECONDS from the time I click new note to be able to start writing a new note. Yes 14 seconds! Granted this machine isn't the quickest - BUT - it's not _that_ slow! 2) LOST DATA - typing a new note and then clicking NEW NOTE again will almost always result in lost data from the note I was just working on... Reproduce just by typeing "test note" into your title, then clicking "new note".. I had everything from "t" to "test" to "test n" and a variety of combinations from doing this. Overall - seems a LOT slower than 10.6.9 - I'm seeing that spinning green circle way more. Selected 9 notes to delete, took 35 seconds to finish the delete process. My database is about 50,000 notes... I trimmed out about 25,000 notes the other day (FYI, ios devices didn't take well to this - I needed to uninstall and reinstall to get notebooks caught back up - they were super slowly syncing - it would have taken days of the app being open to catch up).
  9. Keep using Legacy if you need performance and the features of Legacy. v10 is good to play with, but I find it sluggish on most of my machines. I even dumped out 30,000 notes and brought my database down to just short of 50,000 notes - still sluggish - most of my machines are Windows with i7 processors on 8 to 16gb ram and loads of SSD space. I keep asking if there is anything I can do to help Evernote test performance gains, but don't hear anything back. v10 is "usable", but performance is a far cry from the Legacy experience - for me anyway - and a lot of others. If you use v10, keep in mind you need enough drive space free on your machine - your ENTIRE Evernote database will download in addition to the drive space Legacy uses for EN data. Yes - two copies of EN data will be on your machine.
  10. You can grab the prior version for Windows & Mac still as a Legacy edition and run as you did until they sort out v10 performance problems. I've got a video up on finding and installing Legacy here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5jBqwfoo_0
  11. Just a reminder for the Evernote team that we're still crossing our fingers for some drastic performance updates... this is version 10.5.7 on Windows showing memory and cpu resource hogging. This was during a very 'sluggish' time of operating. Something must be going into 'runaway' creating this problem every so often. Hopefull we see this type of thing corrected early on in 2021!
  12. Just confirmed that the new Home is still accessible in 10.5.7 as well.
  13. Yikes.. selected 12 notes, hit deleted. Process took about 2 minutes, but finally it deleted those 12 notes. As with my previous post, database is about 77,000 notes If you folks at Evernote are interested in discussing and getting more details from me, let me know. Happy to do some extra testing of a large-ish database.
  14. General performance video... clicking on a few notes - much improved, thanks - still needs work to catch up to what Legacy is. Typing a note - still have lag with typing during those constant 'saving note' points. Inserting small images - brutally long waits. My database is of 77,000+ notes. here's the video:
  15. Just go to Evernote.com and do a download... the updates don't always push out to an app notification right away. And I just tested 10.5.6 - it is noticably improved over prior v10 versions for performance (77,000+ notes)... still needs more tweaking, but so far much more usable for the quick test I've done (although it did take about 4 seconds from the point of clicking "new note" to being able to type into a new note).
  16. 10.4.3 is very hit & miss for me - on a windows machine i7 8th gen, with 16gb ram. Some days it's very much usable, other times I have to avoid it and use the Legacy version.
  17. Primary laptop i7 8th gen 1.8ghz with 16gb ram - I have Legacy on here as well as v10 (not at the same time though). Performance is horrid. I have it also running on a test bench Windows 10 VM and performance there is pretty decent: AMD 3400g @ 3.7Ghz with 16gb ram. Not running Legacy. Surface Pro 4 i7 at 2.2ghz with 16gb ram is running 'ok', but still slow. Not running Legacy. I might have to remove Legacy from my primary laptop and see if things behave differently. I don't run Legacy and v10 concurrently (generally anyway).
  18. How much RAM does your machine have? I've got a 16gb laptop that is similar to what you're experiencing... but my desktop with 32GB ram runs quick. I think they (Evernote) has some serious performance issues to iron out in this version - BUT the good news is that it should be possible. I've compared a few similar apps running the same application framework and they are quick and well tuned. So it is certainly possible! I'd roll back to the Legacy version for now but keep an eye on updates for performance improvements.
  19. Inking is much nicer now.. thanks for that fix - BUT.... and a really big BUT is the saving time nees to be drastically improved. As i sit here typing this, I'm currently at the 3 minute mark waiting on a 3 hand written words to save. I wanted to see if you're still running "infinite paper" and it appears you are - in addition to those 3 words, I drew out lines in the two diagonals a few times to enlarge the page. .. 4 minutes still saving now. I did a more basic test a few minutes ago, a quick basic sketch with 3 colors and a single sentance of writing. That took a few seconds to save - but a painful few seconds. If I was in a meeting or school lecture I would be missing the start of any additional notes I'd want to be taking due to save times. ... 5 minutes - still saving that previously noted test sketch. I'm going to go grab a coffee... Long story short - sketch is still very much broken with these saving times. Please fix. I really think you could do away with infinite paper size and possibly eliminate the problem. Oh - and bring back a dot grid background on the paper (or let us select from the basics - lined, grid, dot grid, blank). Edit: 31 minutes later... that basic note is still trying to save. Force closed the app. Sketch still very much unusable for anything serious.
  20. Have you tried force closing the app and restarting it? That generally seems to correct problems like that.
  21. I'm not Gazumped - but can tell you - on Windows anyway - that both of these are separate - if you're running Legacay and don't want to play with v10 - uninstall and you should only have the Legacy database remaining. In my case, I have a 38gb database - I have the entire database downloaded in Legacy and v10 also downloads the entire database - so I have 76gb of space used up with Evernote - if I remove either Legacy or v10, I'll drop back to 38gb used. Legacy and v10 databases are completely separate and completely different database formats.
  22. I use the service If This Then That (IFTTT) to build a new journaling page each day at 5 am with the days weather forecast already built in and all my writing/journaling prompts for the day. Here's how I do it:
  23. Have any of you played around in the Electron wrapper Developer Tools ( View menu -> Advanced -> Toggle Developer Tools) ? I was playing around with different devices being emulated and found when running on ipad pro, was actually getting fast loads - images would render much faster than as running as default. Granted, resolution changed, and other headaches present themselves - BUT - the TL;DR is that I remain "hopeful" that the Evernote team can do some code tweaks and further bug fixes to improve the performance drastically (especially when I see a slew of errors & warnings showing up in Dev. Tools view as well). I definitely say that they (Evernote) sent out an what I would perceive as an "early beta" of their software without properly testing. Hang in there, use the Legacy version ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5jBqwfoo_0 )for now and watch for a few updates to (fingers crossed) fixe the awful performance issues.
