    I understand. Well technically if an application stores document data onto the hard disk somehow so that they're in a readable format, it's possible to write a script that would scrape data from the document even if the application that created it wasn't scriptable.
  2. There are no other windows. If I right-click Evernote's application icon in the Dock, it reveals that the application's main window is the only window that it has. And even if it did open it in a separate window, shouldn't it open the main app first so that the separate document window would open on top of it? Right now I can't even manage to produce the two different kinds of links – I can see the normal link vs classic link options available in the menu of course but now it doesn't matter which one I copy and paste, both links consist of exactly the same text/path/format. Trying multiple times, no change.
  3. Still: Neither one of those Evernote actions – "Copy Link" or "Copy Classic Link" – do anything more than open Evernote the application in exactly the same way as if I'd launched it from the Applications folder. So it's clearly not working at all.
  4. Option-click does indeed reveal that Classic option, but what it does is exactly the same as with non-classic: Opens Evernote in the notebook that was open when I left it the last time. The links do look different when pasted so they are different, but it looks like the function itself just doesn't work at all.
  5. I'd like to paste hyperlinks into other software so I could quickly follow them in order to get to a specific Evernote note. The notes are stored locally, not shared. The whole thing would be a closed system on my computer only. If I right-click a note and select "Copy Note Link", paste the link elsewhere, then click it, Evernote opens the last Notebook that was there when it was last open. So it's just the list of notes in that notebook, with the first one in the list selected for preview. Pretty much just looks the same as launching Evernote.app. How do I really link to the specific note? If I use Spotlight to find the note and I double-click it in Finder, then Evernote launches, and on top of it comes that note in a separate window, spread to fill the entire screen. Linking to that file via Finder as a folder structure is a method, but it takes maneuvering and it'd be better if it didn't open multiple windows to Evernote, or expand that document, as it's hard to read when the text spreads all across the width of the screen.

    I know what you mean. I don't have a solution, just some experiences and ideas for handling it differently. As for Evernote, I've started to take advantage of emojis by adding something specific to the beginning of the titles so I can comprehend much faster what type of notes they are. That way I won't have to read absolutely every title, only the ones starting with the combination of 1-3 symbols to catch my attention. To see, say, which ones are templates, which ones are how-tos, and which ones are drafts in progress, for example. I use iDatabase if I want to create sets that always have the same custom fields that I can then sort and filter by. Select-lists, booleans, checkboxes and so on. Parameters really. At least earlier versions experienced some occasional crashes but it's great if you need to create stuff intuitively without the cold, tedious and cluttered environment of spreadsheet software. The database files end up looking like some sort of "settings" or questionnaire forms. That vs. Evernote vs. Excel are all different, thus ideal for different types of information handling. Evernote is great for a lot of text, while iDatabase is about the boxes and fields. I use them in parallel. The only downside is that I have to maintain them both. But that's the information age – we spend more and more time just trying to manage the data instead of just using and creating it.
  7. I'm happily using Evernote for business and personal projects of all kind, keeping them synced between the computer and a tablet. Now, I know that Evernote wasn't developed to be a word processor and it's not going to become one. I'm fine with that, since I can always use an actual word processor to do final editing, word count check, styling and whatever. But while I'm still working on the actual content itself, because of syncing and easy archiving, I really like to keep the unfinished documents in Evernote. A lot of my notes are quite long, proper written text. The longer they get, the harder they are to read, understand and work with. A crucial feature that I really miss on Evernote is spacing. We can only choose of a few fonts in the program which is fine, but the chance to at least choose the spacing between the letters/words/rows would help a lot by making long texts easier to read and work with. Aye or nay to take it in consideration?
