  1. No, I a normalised relational database, all metadata is stored in separate tables (relations). A note table contains only the note ID (to reference it from other tables) and the note content (text). Titles are metadata and held (hopefully) in a seperate table. So if you change content, only an update field of the main note table has to be change - not anything within a title table. I also would suggest to not change the update field of a note it it's title is changed or it is moved to an other notebook. This often is done during re-oranganizing your notes. Checking a simple flag is something like nothing during this process. Bloated software is a result of over-developed UI with gimmicks only for beginners and management...
  2. OK, I can deactivate a single seat - but what's the consequence of deactivating it? Can it be re-activated for an other user (eMail address within the company)? Will it be removed from the next annual bill? ... And if not: How can a Teams account be shrinked down to less seats?
  3. Yep, Developers should not be active here. They have to fight for their (internal) sprint goal. But it would be fine to see some more "Customer Success Officers" here - a group somewhere between support and product management. I'm sure, they have some on their payroll - but sometimes customer feel they are picking popcorn while only watching the forums ๐Ÿ˜‰
  4. ... and they really care even for old accounts ๐Ÿ™‚ (this one here was lost due to some changes in my business account configuration - but the succeeded to re-enable it after some days of work - THXs to EN-support!)
  5. Simply Right-Click on an already created tag and select 'Create tag in "<this>"...' to create a sub-level tag (if you are a Windows user - if not, I'm sure that other platform offer similar functionality ๐Ÿ˜‰). I've done so with groups of tags to describe note attributes like "When?", "Who?", "Where?", "Type" and so on. My current tag tree looks like the following: You can find a more-in-detail description of this methodology in http://discussion.evernote.com/topic/114779-using-tags-to-implement-dynamic-todo-lists/. This makes it completely unnecessary to structure notebooks in deep hierarchies. I've around 10 stacks of several notebooks organized by tags like described above. Nobody needs more. Full stop ๐Ÿ˜‰
  6. Moreover I just saw a nice feature regarding auto-converting link formats: If I inserted external links ("https://...") to other documents (like an eMail body in Outlook) and then Copy&Paste this text back to an EN note EN converts it to an internal link ("evernote://..." automatically (NICE) and changes the colour to green (default for internal links! - very good) But... If I inserted external links ("https://...") to an eMail body in Outlook and then use "Save to Evernote" to move my sent message to EN EN does not auto-convert the links (@EN-Developers: WHY?) THX for clarifying this - it leads me to some more investigations/findings (for Windows users) Note -> Copy internal link (Ctrl-Alt-L) creates internal links to be pasted within EN (OK) creates external private links to pasted outside EN (OK) Note -> Share -> Copy sharable link - in Main window creates external public links to pasted anywhere (OK - but be careful!) @EN-Developers: This command should show accelerator info ("Ctrl-/") Note -> Share -> Copy share URL (Ctrl-/) - in separate Note window creates external public links to pasted anywhere (OK - but be careful!) @EN-Developers: Please use other accelerator becasue "Ctrl-/" cannot be used on German keyboards Regarding "but be careful!": In my opinion, this command should be named "Copy public share URL" in all cases to grant a user to be aware of this. Up to now, a Public url remains public (with no password requirement) until a user explecitely stops access by command Note -> Share -> Share note... > Turn off But who knows this complicated commands later or is even aware ot public links later? @EN-Developers: please think about ๐Ÿ˜‰
  7. What's the difference? On Windows, I sometime had the feeling that EN places both formats the clipboard (this is possible in Windows - we use this feature in our programs ;-)). So any other application is free to select the propper one for its own purpose during paste (Word: https:..., Evernote itself: evernote:...) Maybe I was confused during my tests. But I think they should not be toooo clever: If I have two distinct commands to place explicitely one URL in the clipboard, I will use the desired one in any case. BTW: In my environment I use the internal URL even in external cases like (HTML based) texts. Doing so, Windows will launch EN to show my note (and not a browser with un-comfortable EN-UI). This is why I mentioned [A] as a FAIL ๐Ÿ˜‰
  8. Small addendum: to [A] Because "Note -> Copy Internal Link" works like a "Note -> Copy External Link" in this case (in a New window), this is could be seen as a feature (with invalid naming) - and it is the only way to get an external link to my note ๐Ÿ˜‰. @EN-developers: Please end up these boring discussion by simply offenering both commands ("Note -> Copy Internal Link [CTRL-ALT-L]" and "Note -> Copy External Link [CTRL-/]") ... in both modes (Main window and New Window) ... with accellerators shown in command menus (to help to remember them easily for new users) ... and an other accellerator than "Ctrl-/" for German power users ๐Ÿ˜‰ THX for your attention...
  9. Huh, annoying because it makes a difference whether you are working on note within EN's main window or with a New Window ๐Ÿ˜ž If you are working on a note in EN's main window Command "Note -> Copy Internal Link" shows an accelerator "CTRL-ALT-L" ... and stores a classic URL in Window's clipboard (OK) CTRL-ALT-L does this job without clicking through the command (OK) "CTRL-/" does NOT work (FAIL) ... on German keyboards because a "/" is reachable only by using a shift key ๐Ÿ˜ž and CTRL-SHIFT-/ seems to have no or any other functionality Command "Note -> Copy External Link" is not available (WISH: offer command) ... so I've no possibility to generate an external URL in this mode - but... If you are working on a note in a New Window (my preferred method to work in parallel in several notes) Command "Note -> Copy Internal Link" shows no accelerator (WISH: show an accelerator) ... and stores an external URL in Window's clipboard (FAIL: should store an Internal URL) [A] "CTRL-ALT-L" works even it is not mentioned in command and places an external URL in clipboard (OK) "CTRL-/" does NOT work (FAIL) - as above... Command "Note -> Copy External Link" is not available (WISH: offer command) - as above... THX RavBoy!
  10. Question: Is it possible to retrieve a classic note link ("evernote:///...") to a note directly from the user interface? Background: RClick on a note only offers "Copy Internal Link (Ctrl-Alt-L)" which ends in a "https://..."-URL to be inserted in other documents (like Excel, Word, ...) On a MAC someone tolds me to press an "option button" after RClick to find the command - but on Windows, I've neither an Option-Button available nor does CTRL work :-( My current workaround is to paste the internal link to a (new, temp.) note text then RClick on this new inserted text and "Edit..." the link. Within the small dialog, I can Cut&Paste the internal syntax string... But this is time wasting and complicated...
  11. Maybe I misunderstood the question. But if you have a local HTML file and want to "clip" it to a EN note, you might to define an import folder with Tools -> Import Folders... and simply copy your file to this folder. EN tracks changes within this folder an automatically imports files to a note before removing the file (because it's saved in EN ;-). Going this way work fine for me because EN displays HTML files directly as note text - not as an attachment.
  12. Now I can see the problem with a list of more than 4k notes :-) But in my case the slider does not bounce back to the original position. If I release the mouse button at the upper or lower end it bounces back only some lines. So the first (or last) notes cannot be seen. If I start the drag operation nearly at the end and release it at the end, the bounce-back amount is lower than if I start at the middle of the list. It seems that the amount depends on the count of lines that have to be scrolled until the end. After the third or fourth try, I can reach the real end of the list... Maybe the screen resolution has any impact? I've 3.440x1.440 pixels on my screen... And: for me EN is the only application that shows this effekt. Chrome, NotePad++ and VS work correct.
  13. Either I'm a little stupid and do not understand your problem or it is not seen here and it depends on a EN-Windows combination that causes the error. I'm using EN-6.13.14 on a Windows-10.0.17134.112 desktop. My scroll bar works fine in all note list formats. With mouse and|or keyboard. But oups... If I move the scroll bar with the mouse and move the cursor app. 3 cm right or left away from the bar (during drag operation), the slider jumps to where the operation started. But this is normal Windows behaviour and can be seen in other windows also (i.e. browser and others).
  14. "I don't see this problem in v. 6.13...": Oups - I'm running the same version - and I can see the problem. Even when pasting "normal" (formatted) text (i.e. source code from an IDE), blank lines will be removed. Pasting into a code block doesn't help. :-(
  15. Don't know exactly, why (AHK uses some surprising syntax). But it works if you write ^+R:: Send ^{d} return
  16. From my point of view the current handling is buggy - I do not want to have this as a new feature. I know this WAR but do not like it... I've a couple of notes (marked as "=overview") that contain attached XLS files. Change activities to the XLS files are documented in the note. Here is an example: From time to time I want to make a backup copy of the attachment before starting bigger changes to it. So I simply copy&paste the attachment to a new line and want to change its name to "staff-180711.xlsx". You see the problem? All WARs are ugly and time-consuming...
  17. Yes, of course. It might have been clever in former times when all of us had to save space on disks ;-) I know about backup systems that calculate checksum of all files (of a disk, a disk array or disk farms). Files with the same checksum are stored on backup media only one time. This is OK (and has many advantages in space and backup time) - for a backup and only for that. But within an interactive system (like EN), I expect different things (like every iconized attachment) to be different even if it carries the same name. If I attach ANY.XLS and later an other (or even the same) ANY.XLS to a note, I want to have two distinct attachments (with the same name like there are many John Does around our world...) If they want to be clever and store identical attachments only once (OK - saves space and transfer time), they should be clever enough to handle operations on references to these attachments like a user expects (as different attachments).
  18. The following is true for any type of attached files. I will use Excel for my examples... Case 1: Paste ANY.XLS from outside EN two times to a note and rename one of them to NEW.XLS: Bug: Both copies of the file will get the new name NEW.XLS Bug: Name change of the other file will not be seen immediately (ANY.XLS seems to be active...) Case 2: Paste ANY.XLS from outside EN to a note and rename it to NEW.XLS. Then paste ANY.XLS a second time to your note. Bug: Second copy will get the name of the (renamed) first one (both are seen as NEW.XLS) Case 3 ("combination use case"): Cut&Paste an already attached file ANY.XLS within a note, rename one of them to NEW.XLS. Double-click the renamed file NEW.XLS to edit its content. Exit Excel to save the changed file. Bug: EN shows the unchanged file ANY.XLS as NEW.XLS (false) when changed file NEW.XLS is re-imported. Bug: Both files do have the same content. Original content of ANY.XLS is lost.
  19. Oups, funny :-) I never saw this effect but you are right: Underscore (_) does not work in this manner. It seems to declare the following characters to be searched in tag names immediately following a special character. (i.e. "_te" matches "=test", "~team" but not "#Master"). And I found an other character with a special meaning: Percent (%) declare the following characters to be searched anywhere in tag names. (i.e. "%te" matches "=test", "~team", "#Master", ...). Up to now I only knew about Underscore to be the only special character that is matches in search phrases for note body text. Maybe one (important) EN developer loves Underscores and hates all the other non-alphanumerics with one exeption ;-) @EN-Team: Maybe an insider can explain this to us users?
  20. On Windows, every import ends in a (new) personal notebook. I/we can live with that because it allows to adjust some tag- and other settings before moving the note(s) to final destination folder(s). Only disadvantage for me/us: Every new (even personal) folder appears as an (later empty) folder in admin's folder list and has to be deleted there... We moved from Premium to Business directly without ENEX files because ex-/importing notes will loose internal references from note to note (while importing, every note will get a new internal id :-( )
  21. Sometimes EN seems to ignore key sequences from AutoHotkey because they are coming too fast. In this case you should insert some sleep()s to slow down key press speed. Here's an example of a script that starts a checklist if you type "td " :oc:td:: Sleep 100 Send, ^{b} Sleep 100 Send, Todo:^{b} Sleep 100 Send, {Enter}^+{b} Sleep 100 Send, ^+{c} Return Result is Without the sleep() statements sometimes "Todo:" is not bold or the list is not started or checkbox is not there ;-)
  22. I do not think that folders are blacklisted because of pride. But they are probably very very very hard to implement (based on the current internal data structure they use over many years and versions). Within EN Business there are Spaces available - something between simple stacks and free folders. They help to maintain folder permissions (read/write access to specific team members). But: With EN Business they removed support of nested tags :-( This is (in my opinion) because tags are managed outside the "normal" internal data structure and they didn't succeed to add management features for nested tags in admin console. Moreover there are global and user-local tags available that cannot be managed globally. All in all: Their development is strictly limited because of compatibility reasons to older structures. In parallel they seem to loose experienced developers and are forced to offer nice features involved from marketing (sorry - another :-( )
  23. Whow! That's really easy - but I'm on Windows... Do You have a suggestion where to find some hints how to automate EN on Windows?
  24. Nice to hear from an Evenote Employee - does this mean that this feature will be available in Business environments soon? ;-)
