FInaly got round to trying out Joplin as a replacement for Legacy. Pros: It's possible to run Joplin portable in a Verarypt volume and the database is created in the volume as well. This solves the problem of having a local portable encrypted database. Cons: No nested tags No additional colums in the note list e.g date created ; date updated ; size etc No 2nd window for side by side editing. Draging files into tables is a bit clunky compared to Evernote So I am still looking for a local Evernote substitute. Best Regards Dab.

Hi Sunlolo My Evernote Legacy is still working using local notebooks on an encrypted local drive mounted on an SSD. If you backed up your EXB files you should be able to restore your database. Regards Dab.

Version 10 does not support local notebooks.

I am still hoping that the management will realise that the desktop stand alone Legacy product with a local and easily backed up database is the best in the market and keep it going.

Here is an example of a stack and notebook structure which also uses the style option to colour the names of certain notebooks to give extra visual clarity. Regards Dab.

Quick heads up for anybody doing Stack by Stack and notebook by notebook html backups in Legacy befor it dies from software rust. The shortcut Alt F (file) followed by E (Export) only outputs the first note in a notebook. To get all notes in a notebook you have to use the mouse right click, export. I wish I had spotted this a few hours earlier. Regards Dab.

I use Windows 10 across 5 laptops. Most of them are quite old the most recent is a Dell Lattitude i5.

Hi, I have bitten the bullet, taken out a premium subscription and started the task of moving from Legacy to V10. Where is the best place to ask questions on V10? I immediately have 2 questions that I haven't been able to find the answer to by searching. 1. How do I change the Navigation panel to light (grey) in V10 , This was selectable in legacy from: Tools> Options> General > left panel theme. ( I have an eye problem which means the black background is difficult to read.) 2. How do I set styles in the Navigation panel. This used to be available in Legacy by right clicking a notebook and selecting style from the dropdown menu. Thanks Dab.

This is all very sad. I have used Evernote from its early days and it has been a fantastic product. Before I commit to Long... I want to understand if any of the other functionality has been removed. Do you know if version 10 still has a detailed options box, for example how do you set the shortcut keys preferences?

True I don't have 1000s of notebooks but I have several accounts and in one of my accounts I have 498 notebooks. How long do you estimate it will take me to port these across 1 at a time ?

I have thousands of local notebooks for tax records and other personal information. I am extremely upset about he decision to stop the use of local notebooks as it allowed me to store the exb files in a Veracrypt vault locally plus back them up using spider oak. I want to continue using Evernote so is there an easy way to convert local notebooks to online notebooks?
