  1. Thank you. :) I look forward to hearing more about you app as time progresses.

Sorry I got you wrong. As mentioned in the welcome document, currently you can only edit your notes in Marxico. Marxico cannot recognize the modifications you made in Evernote. But it is very easy to open a note in Marxico from Evernote because there's a quick edit button in every note.

About the price, yes, it would charge some fee when finally released.

I'm afraid Marxico won't support Wordpress in the near future. It will focus on Evernote first.

Gock, if it's me your replying to, no I'm not concerned about security (well, not in this case ;) ), what I was trying to ask was this:

If notes are prepared in Marxico and saved to Evermote, can these same notes opened and added to, and/or edited, right in side the desktop Evernote app itself? Or do you have to open them in Marxico to edit and/or add to them?

    Also,

    * Do you have a price point in mind for your final product?

    * Could this software also be use to prepare formatted blog posts drafts for WordPress?

I guess you are concerned with your privacy? I promise:

    1. Marxico wouldn't save any notes data on its own server.

    2. Marxico wouldn't get any note that is not created by Marxico.

Theoretically, Marxico does have the ability to do something evil, but it wouldn't do that. Just like the other cloud services that make your life more convenient. So please don't worry. :)

Gock, in relation (I think) to this post by Loriswave, as well as to the question in my other post - wouldn't anything created in Marxico be saved to the Evernote servers, provided you link it to your EN account, and later acessible for viewing & editing, just as with any other note *not* created using your program?

    hi,

very impressive application, but I have some feature requests:

    Import from desktop application

    export to desktop application

export to evernote as markdown and not as html

  4. Hmm, that's puzzling. Sounds like an encounter I had last year with a large, popular anti-virus company. After I had paid for the service and two expensive repairs their software didn't catch. They wanted to charge me for the priviledge of talking to them as well...changed companies.

I'm sure there are plenty of users who still loathe the ribbon interface, for example, but Microsoft hasn't backed down on it. When was the last time you had a conversation with a developer there? The last time I tried to contact the company about bugs they wanted to charge me money for the privilege of getting in touch with a human being.

I'm definitely one of those who isn't happy about the ribbon interface. Though to be fair, Microsoft does have excellent free tutorials available for all of it's core programs. And the users forum, while not as nicely laid out as this one, does have have a number of very knowledgeable and helpful volunteers.

I'm curious, Grumpy, what was the situation where they wanted to charge you to speak to a live company rep, if you don't mind sharing?

I don't know if it had anything to do with my problem or not, but (1) problems with memory issues and crashing on the Mac, (2) problems with vertical Japanese text support on the Mac, and (3) license inactivated because it was supposedly used on too many computers. If I remember correctly, they wanted 45 dollars.

  6. Beagley. If you want to word process anything other than plain text - with zero formatting except maybe paragraph breaks & *nothing else* that you can count on not messing up if you copy a Note's text anywhere outside Evernote - and plan to *never, ever* print directly from Evernote, the sure go for it.

But if you want even basic, *reliable* word processing abilities, do youtself a favour and look elsewhere. Evernote is a great place to store data of many types, and EN staff keep popping in every now and then to assure us they are working on improvements to the much maligned Text Editor. But they also make it clear that Evernote never was, is, or will be, a full-on note-takimg software despite the nane.

After using Evernote for about ten minutes on my Mac, I thought: Why wouldn't I use this as my primary Word Processor? After playing around for a while now, I'm even more intrigued.

I've been using Google Docs as my primary Word Processor for about six months. Evernote has everything that I care about in Google Docs and also has a nice, stable, offline client, and smooth and easy support for a multitude of non-text formats. Not to mention all of Evernote's other nifty features... and why would I want to use two programs?

It is important to point out that I work in plain text (or RTF at most) for all of my work, and do "final formatting" later in a layout program or OpenOffice. But for the real WRITING? Evernote might fit the bill.

Anyone care to speculate on the advantages/disadvantages of using Evernote as a Word Processor?

    Synching Question:

I am wondering what will happen if I edit a note on my Mac or my PC, while offline, then edit the same note elsewhere online, and then bring my Mac online and try to synch... I can test that, and do other somersaults, but does anyone know off-hand exactly how Evernote handles "concurrency"? Is it a simple, "Last Online Save Wins" system, or during a Synch does it do some comparisons?

Feature Wishes, with Word-Processing in Mind:

    *A full-screen editing view

*Sub-notebooks within notebooks, and/or folders in which I can put Notebooks when I have too many.

*Save-As for a single note to txt or RTF

    -d

    p.s.

Tiny suggestion: the "Updated" column in the various list views should probably be named "Date Modified", like it is in the OS?

    EDIT:

Sorry, this is in the wrong forum... when I started composing, I couldn't see the other forums! Weird...

  7. Sorry, but if I thought for even a second that *any* of my medical (or legal) data was stored on an app like Evernote, I would blow a gasket. If my records were hacked, it would be the doctor (lawyer) I went after.

    Stopping here, before I explode.

    Evernote, please add full-notebook encryption.

I'm a psychologist and use my iPad for therapy session notes. The law on psychologist-client and HIPAA requires me to keep client information confidential. If there's no encryption, and my notes are in plaintext, I cannot send them to Evernote which is one of three options for exporting notes that my note-taking program allows. This is the case for every medical professional in the US, so until you add full-notebook encryption, using your product for serious work is unacceptable. I realize that many users do not need this option and agree with others that I would be glad to pay an additional fee for encryption at the notebook level. Ideally I would be able to transfer the file to Evernote locally and then add it to an encrypted in Evernote to allow access wherever I am.

Hoping this will be a new feature soon!

  8. That's unfortunate. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. :(

Wait, another option might be a new note for every entry, numerically or date & time titled. After you convert each one to a Word doc you could delete the EN notes if you don't want them taking up space on your data limit.

Sadly, here ends my the extent of my knowledge. If my last idea (above) doesn't work for you, hopefully someone else might have suggestions.

    Best of luck! :)

  9. I only know of the scrolling, but you might want to consider restructuring your daiily notes by always putting the newest data entry at the top. And maybe note at the beginning of each entry, the Time, as well a Titles of sorts - that includes Key Words - so you can locate earlier entries by using the "Find on This Page" function on both your desktop and Android.

    Hope that helps. ;)

  10. Does this html link jump to a separate note, or is it an active heading in the current note?

Hi. Please don't take offense to this, but I'm about as tech clueless as one can get and I had two thoughts after reading your note:

    1) Yes, to me at least, it's pretty clear that the link allow you to navigate from the TOC to headings within the same note.

    2) If you just click on the link provided a few posts back in this thread, it will take you directly to the EATags service site, where everything is explained with text, graphics and How To videos, far better than anyone could explain it here. Just go have a look yourself.

  11. Wordsgood,

EATags It’s a free suscription service that provides extra features for Evernote® users.

You must asign the special tag 'eat.toc' to the note when you want the Table of Contents, and add #, ##, ### etc. before each title, subtitle, etc. in the note.

After the sync, the service insert the table at the top of the note.

Because it is a web service, works on any device.

EATags participated in the Devup 2012, see http://evernotedevcup.challengepost.com/submissions/8645-eat-ags

That's great news. Thanks Rebianchi! :)

  12. soralsokal

It is possible usings special tags.

    see in https://eatags.com/

I don't have time to look at it extensively for the moment, but if it does what I think it does, this feature will be a HUGE help for me and many others who have been wanting the ability to have a CLICKABLE Table of Contents in long Notes with large amounts of text. I wonder why it hasn't been mentioned in the 6 or 7 months I've be active on the forums? I can especially see it be most beneficial for students with their study notes!

I'll be testing it out as soon as I can and will report my findings in a new thread. However, that could mean as little as a day or two or as much as a few months. I can't make definitely plans for anything as my body frequently refuses to cooperate (MS), so if someone else wants to take on, please do. :) And let us know what you learn please!

Thank you, SoralSokal (sp?) for mentioning this. I greatly appreciate it! :) :)

  13. *Blushing now* That explains the argument I had with my laptop a few days ago...

You realise there's a fourth device? Each one of your devices has to sync back to the Evernote server to get the latest version of a note, allow you to make changes, then sync again to send those changes to the server. Once that device has synced, your other devices will be able to sync and get that version of the note so that you can view or edit it. Using Evernote isn't like receiving the same channel on your TV screen and your laptop - you have to send back any changes you make so the server can send them out to your other devices.

  14. Thanks Rheinard.

As it turns out, the same day you sent this reply I also received answers to queries I've had out elsewhere for several weeks, and discovered much to my chagrin, that the blog I've been using for the last 6 weeks is not even a WordPress blog!

So for now, I'm just going to going to concentrate on migrating over to an actual WordPress site, and then once that's done, notify all the folks I originally invited to read it it of the new site's name and location.

But I may be back to look at your plug-in at a later time and thank you for thinking of me!

  15. Are you sure it's not your phone's keyboard that's the problem? If you're using a smartphone with a touch screen keyboard, try looking at your Settings, Language options and if possible, disable the Predictive text/Auto-correct function. This was a huge issue for me and I finally figured out how to stop it.

Of course now spelling suggestions don't show up now, but I prefer that to it taking over what I want to input.

    Hope this helps.
