I just had exactly the same experience. Patnpm, thank you for posting about this so I know I'm not crazy. That said, those pdf tools were awesome, and I hope they are implemented in Evernote, or that I can find a way to get back to them.

It has been my experience that the feature in Evernote that allows you to draw does not work very intuitively for handwriting. Penultimate does this wonderfully, and I would love to see PDF annotation incorporated into this app.
