Control Which Image Shown in a Note's Thumbnail/Snippet View

If I get rid of all other pictures in my newly created note, why doesn't the note default then to the remaining picture? It seems to keep the old picture. Would I have to clean up a saved website before I upload to avoid this? Kind of a bizarre if so...
