You can create internal note links on android and on ios as well:

Just use the note link function, which you get from the note menu (accessible through the plus sign in the lower left corner)

This is the correct answer, at least for now. It's functionality that was just introduced last month, if I remember correctly.

To be honest, I had forgotten about this thread and didn't think to come back to update it.

Would be nice if they eventually added the copy-internal-in-app-link functionality to the three-dot-menu within a note as well to prevent cluttering in feature/design-parity (which was on the goals for the EN10 overhaul)

    I agree with this completely.

  2. I use emojis in the titles of some notes and noticed that some emojis are not displaying properly in my saved search results. The emojis show just fine in the note list if I open the notebook, but if I open a saved search, EN shows me a diamond with a question mark inside.

This only seems to happen with some emojis. Bug report has been submitted, but curious if anyone else sees this as well. I'm not sure exactly when this behavior started, but I believe it used to work fine. Looks fine in web version, too.

    EN 10.27.5, Windows 10.

I have an Android phone. Since the latest release, if Evernote is the last app I've used, the app stays open and the screen does not sleep. How do I change this so it sleeps with the phone after 2 minutes?

For me this only happens if I'm in a note, but not in the note list, home screen, etc. I actually prefer this behavior. It's very helpful if I'm looking at a recipe in Evernote or just taking notes and don't want to have to keep waking my phone.

Making it an option would be fine, but I'm hopeful they don't remove this functionality. It was missing for a while and I'm glad that it returned a couple of versions ago.

A second workaround is to insert them right away - simple on a mobile, on a desktop you need an emoji selection.

Right. I usually only use markdown on the desktop, so mobile wasn't a consideration for me. But you're right, it's helpful to remember that Windows (and presumably other OSs) have emoji selection/keyboard options. I usually forget about that.

After the initial phase, all clients are pretty much in sync with updating. The releases usually are available a day or two apart, which may well be the AppStore release delay.

Desktop is on 10.16 now, mobile on 10.12.

Right. I haven't received the 10.12 update yet, so I can't say if this search problem is present for me there.

  6. I'm curious to see how Plus subscriptions are treated. While I hope we'll get the full functionality, or at least more than Basic users, I'm not holding my breath. I assume it'll be a similar case to Home, where the additional features are not available to Plus users.

From EN's perspective, it's likely preferable to nudge Plus users toward the Premium plan rather than giving them a reason to stay with a deprecated plan.

Looking at the task attributes (exported to .enex file)323408726_ScreenShot2021-06-05at11_41_26.png.2f11e2bb411f47c0c2c3e2090f64c231.png
    I see taskStatus
    date/time completed is not stored

I would think that the most recent updated timestamp (it looks like that'd be statusUpdated) could serve the same purpose, but that's thrown off if you fix a typo in a completed task or something.

Hopefully EN is considering some way to capture the completed date/time.

  8. Is there any word on a plan or the timing to allow the creation of app links to other notes on Android? The Windows and web versions let you create app links, but not Android. So if I create/edit a note on Android and it involves a link to another note, when I open the note later on my PC I'll encounter a web link instead of an app link.

As it is, I end up having to spend additional time at a later point revising notes created/edited on Android so that they function properly (or at least in line with my preference - I don't want EN to open a browser just to go to a linked note).

Yes, same issue. I'm using Pixel 3 XL with Android 11.

So maybe it's specific to Android 11.

In this forum there were also complaints about this overriding of the general setting in EN8 (legacy). I assume EN therefore removed this from EN10. Maybe we get a setting within the app in future versions. That would be perfectly fine. As a workaround you could use third party apps to easily toggle screen always on via a widget. An open source example doing exactly this and running on my Android 10 devices: https://f-droid.org/packages/com.github.muellerma.coffee/

I get it, people have different use cases. There's currently no setting, so we're stuck with what EN decides to implement. It's just interesting (and a little frustrating) that it behaves differently on different Android devices. To me that sounds like a bug.

  10. Have we lost the screen timeout override setting in v10? I use Evernote frequently for recipes while cooking, and it was helpful that I could previously have it override my device's screen timeout setting and stay on indefinitely while I was viewing a note. As far as I can tell, this setting has been removed in v10.

Strangely, my wife's device seems to keep her notes open (though I haven't tested extensively), while mine times out. She has a Samsung Galaxy S20 FE running Android 10 and I have a Pixel 5 running Android 11. Maybe it's related to the OS version?

Does anyone have any insight or experience with this?

  11. One of my pet peeves with the old Evernote was that colors and formatting weren't consistent across platforms (in my case, Windows, Android, web). I was under the impression that moving to a single code base was intended to create a consistent UX across platforms.

I see that we still have differences between platforms, though. I've only tried a few colors, but there's a clear difference in at least two. Is there a reason we can't have consistency? I also see that we have 13 color choices for Android, but 14 for web and Windows, not counting "Auto."

I'm not a programmer, so maybe there's a straightforward reason for the discrepancy. I'm completely open to being educated if there's a technical reason that it's impossible or difficult to use the same colors across platforms. I just want to understand.

    Thanks.

  12. Thanks. I clearly didn't see this list before posting. After seeing your post I went looking for it, and it wasn't where I would have expected to find it (in the help menu at the bottom of the navigation pane). I did eventually find it, though. I'm hopeful that the inclusion of the word "currently" means that these features will be implemented at some point. For the meantime, I'll continue as I have and switch back to the previous web client when needed.

    Thanks for the quick response.

What features and functions are not available compared to the older version of Evernote Web?

There are a number of features and functions that will currently require you to switch back to the older version of Evernote Web. These include:

    • Create and execute saved searches
    • Multi-file and advanced attachments
    • Drag and drop to desktop
    • Set reminders
    • Access Work Chat messages
    • View published business notebooks (Evernote Business)

  13. Is there a way to access saved searches in the new web client? It's easy to do so on Android and Windows, and in fact I have even set up a couple of shortcuts to some of my most frequently used saved searches. I use those shortcuts frequently on Android and Windows. In the new web client, though, I only see my existing shortcuts to individual notes. All shortcuts, whether to individual notes or saved searches, were available in the older web client.

Is saved search functionality buried in the web client somewhere? Or is there any information about when it will be implemented? At least for me, it's key to my workflow and it would be very helpful to have access to my saved searches in the web client in the same way I can access them on other platforms.

    Thanks.

As far as I can tell, saved searches wind up in the Shortcuts area on the pullout menu in Android. Try long-pressing on a shortcut, and see whether a "Remove from shortcuts" button pops up. That''s what I see, anyways. After removing a shortcut, I synced, and the shortcut was removed from my Evernpte on the web (I'm away from my Windows desktop at the moment, so I can't see what happened in that environment).

Thanks. Only some of my saved searches show up as shortcuts on Android, and they're the ones I want to keep. I think I set them up on Windows originally. Regardless, the ones I want to remove aren't in the shortcuts menu.

I don't have access to a PC right now either, but I'm hopeful that I can remove these orphan saved searches when I have access to a computer again. I was just hoping someone had a simple solution that I was overlooking.
