  1. I haven't been following this thread. (Glancing over it makes me wonder if Obsidian pays for forums of its own where how-to discussions like this might live, but whatever.) All I want to say is: so please don't call people names when they suggest that migrating to v. 10's way of thinking might sometimes be practicable. Thank you (all) for considering this.
  2. I really hesitate to ask this, but I actually do want to help. Can you say (or at least remind me) what you mean by this. Is this right click to take a screenshot or right click during the screenshot process?
  3. Thanks for the good news! It could be, of course, that they were backed up and have finally gotten through most of it.
  4. I'm finding it actually way worse than just the prompt always appearing. Every time I type a slash, the menu pops up--and proceeds to narrow down options as I type letters! To see this in action type: either/or. Only after I type a punctuation mark or space does the 🤬 thing go away. Oops, not working on my personal growth there.
  5. Yes, that's allowed. Be cautious about posting anything with personal or confidential material in it, of course.
  6. Again, opinion presented as fact. It works fine for me. I miss nothing whatsoever about Legacy, perhaps because I (wisely, unwisely, or by sheer accident) didn't build a workflow that could only be maintained if nothing about Evernote ever changed. But maybe my standards are just too low. 🙄
  7. I quite agree with all this. I just don't see what it has to do with automatic, continuous sync instead of sync-on-demand (or on a schedule). But let's let this one drop.
  8. Of course, that was when the Free plan could be used long-term, as many people did. Maybe now that Free is strictly a short-term trial, a lower cost option might have some appeal. Maybe.
  9. 😞😝😡🤬 I haven't seen it yet, but I'm fearful. As with the desktop UI, nothing was broken and this does not look like a fix. I note that it has both the existing multifunctional + New button at the bottom and the giant, redundant New Note, New Task, Scan, etc. buttons at the top, with only the most bare-bones means of accessing existing content in the middle. Looks like Windows 8. Please send something to feedback@evernote.com or wherever to give your opinion.
  10. You might also have better luck if you report the issue (in more detail) in the Windows forum rather than Android: https://discussion.evernote.com/forums/forum/720-evernote-for-windows-issues-versions-100-and-above/.
  11. I wonder if this--Evernote needing to finish loading, and updating notes, could be responsible for the issue in which clicking on an Evernote shortcut on the Android home screen, or a widget, or a link in another app opens Evernote but fails to open the linked note; you have to click from the source location again. Perhaps the linked note can't be opened at first because the app is still loading/updating?
  12. I won't repeat the reasons why the slowness may be temporary--they're easily found in the forums. "Losing the ability to control the sync" = "Not losing what you wrote because your battery died / there was a power outage / someone spilled coffee on the keyboard before you manually synced." (The constant sync has literally saved me from the battery-death loss of text already.) I don't know why you think programming and implementing an entirely new note structure that syncs constantly somehow saves Evernote money. Fortunately, I probably don't care why either. There are rational reasons for wanting to retain Legacy, or leave for another app, but I don't think these are the best ones.
  13. And see this thread, where it is the favorite topic of conversation--you are not alone:
  14. To find your version number, go to the Help menu, then About Evernote. That is really weird looking. Can you say some more about what you were doing when this happened? Is this text that you typed, or was it copied from another source?
  15. I didn't get this in the Windows desktop app. But, following advice, I quite Evernote and restarted, and there it is. I'm a little curious to see how I respond to it. I only need to do any of the actions on that / menu fairly uncommonly, apart from adding a note link, which I do by habit with Ctrl+Alt+K. I will try to see if the ever-present / nag is something I can train myself to ignore, to emotionally detach from. Maybe it will be a good exercise for personal growth! 😀
  16. That happened to me with another Website recently. It turned out to be a cookie issue. I don't use Chrome, but I've had instances in other browsers where the Evernote Web client just wouldn't open, and deleting cookies worked. I assume there's a way to manage cookies in Chrome. In a regular (non-private) window, open the settings and delete all Evernote-related cookies, or all cookies in general for the last hour or last day (but that may log you out of some other sites).
  17. I repeat: Evernote does not have a bug here, let alone a chronic problem, if another program is monitoring the clipboard looking for specific material. Check your Outlook settings--they may have done an update in the background and turned a clipboard sniffer on.
  18. Hi, and welcome to the forums. It's mostly just other users here, not Evernote tech people. To give them direct feedback about the UI: https://waz9zvkd1f2.typeform.com/newuifeedback.
  19. I wonder if Legacy and its database could be run in a virtual machine "sandbox" without Internet access and shielded from v. 10's awareness.
  20. The only way to have shortcuts and the notebook list both visible is to expand the shortcuts list, and then click on notebooks to open that list in a separate panel. But as soon as you click on a note, the notebook list goes away (while shortcuts remain visible). I agree this could work better. But putting them across the top is not a solution unless you only have a few shortcuts and they have very short names. I got to where I had to scroll the shortcuts list left in Legacy in order to find some of them. I don't remember if it was possible to have the list wrap onto multiple lines, but that of course takes away writing space in the note. Having shortcuts on the left (on a landscape monitor) leaves more working room in the note itself. So it's a tradeoff.
  21. I do see that: I go to Settings, then Keyboard Shortcuts, then Open Menu, and the Settings dialog stays open while the KB Shortcuts dialog opens behind it and can't be clicked in for any purpose. Honestly, I never thought of opening KB Shortcuts that way. I usually use Ctrl+/; and as @Boot17 points out, there's also the button to access it at bottom left of the screen. I don't know if being unable to click in a dialog accessed from another dialog is weird or not. Probably, and they probably shouldn't offer that option without closing the Settings dialog.
  22. Welcome to the forums. I don't think Evernote can recognize plain text structures like a pair of brackets with a space in between as a "field," so it wouldn't know how to jump between them. If you're working in a note with those items, I was going to suggest using the find function (Ctrl+F on Windows), and searching for [. But that doesn't move the cursor, just locates the search term and highlights it, so it wouldn't help, though if the next [ ] was some distance away, it would at least show you where it was.
  23. I can't make that happen without dragging the top of the window down quite a bit. Can you say anything about the device, OS, and display? (I still only have it in the Web version.)
  24. I've got it in the Web client, not the desktop, both v. 10.79.2 (I just manually updated the desktop, the Web got it earlier). The / list is exactly the same as the blue + list. I'm glad finally to have a faster way to add an attachment (or at least a way that feels faster), which is the main thing I use + for, but on the whole a bit "meh." (Does anyone say "meh" anymore?)
  25. This has been requested many times (it's on @ferol's wishlist), and I agree, it should be possible and easy to do. For now, the two most workable options (I haven't done either one, but I've seen them recommended) are to create a template with your desired formatting, and always start a new note with that template; or set up a note as you want it, put it someplace easy to get to, and duplicate that note when starting a new note.
