I just received a response from support that they made a backend change that corrected the problem. As you can see in my above post, the problem went away. I hope it has done so for others. I would say this is a fairly decent response. Support request sent via email on the third (although the first posting on this thread was on the second), fixed sometime on the fourth, notified early on the sixth. We don't know, though, when they first found out about it. Of course one would like faster response on an app we rely on multiple times a day such as Evernote, but it's impossible to get help on so many apps this actually doesn't look bad. And it's within a just over a 48 hour window which is pretty normal for email support.

You'll see in my note above I reported this to Evernote. Like @Jim1960 it just started working again. I did nothing, heard nothing.

I haven’t tried all you have, but seeing the Same problem.. so frustrating. And same problem on iPad. 11/3/23 edit. I submitted a ticket to evernote with logs. Hoping...

Sorry I missed that! Thanks for the quick response. I understand their need to re-engineer, but it seems they broke a lot of stuff, it starts up really slowly for me on good hardware, and it's been months now. I've been on the inside of software development so I understand delays, but at some point you have to produce. Thanks again.

Windows Desktop. I scanned, they're tiny (24KB), it's had almost two hours. And it's happening with a note that is more than a month old that I haven't touched since I created it. Thanks for the fast response.

Any attachment in a note, new or old, when viewing/editing the note, only shows as a box outline. There's no indication of content whatsoever. Has that always been the case? It does preview in the listing of notes, and when viewing on my Android device. I hope this isn't the normal- I've been using Evernote for awhile and don't remember this from before, but my memory is not what it used to be :-), and I don't use attachments often. Thanks
