If you are not seeing an All Notes button then go to the toolbar menu, right mouse button and customize toolbar.  You should see an All Notes button there that you can drag to the toolbar.

Got it, thanks. Not used to seeing it way up there, lol.

No, still there. In the left panel, just select the "Notebooks" icon/name and it shows all notes in all notebooks.

Ahh, yes indeed.  It's not actually "still there" as you replied, but at least there's a quick and easy way to view all of my notes.  Thank you!

As it is now in v4, I simply click in the search bar space and type away.  You want me to press f6 and then click in the search bar correct?  That would be more work/more clicking.

The search bar *is* over to the right, but F6 gets you there for a fresh search. No big deal.

Big upside to v5 for me: reminders. I use them every day.

Jefito, that's just adding one more click to a simple, basic, frequently used task. Not good for me.

Actually... one less click. Also, both F6 and clicking in the toolbar require one action.

Nobody is suggesting you do both. One is a keyboard shortcut... while the other requires you to position the cursor with the touch pad and click. Both achieve the same goal. One is quicker (if you remember it). Both require one action. One doesn't require a click.

Yeah I'm not a KB shortcut kinda guy

  4. v4.6.7.8409 of the Windows client.

which client are we talking about? there is no such thing as v4, as far as i know, at least on the mac. my memory is that evernote mac went from three to five in one iteration. perhaps the op is talking about version three or five. i'd look around, but i'm on mobile, and it is kind of annoying to have to wander through thr entire forum to track things down.

anyhow, it's nice to have conversations in one place to increase participation and make it easier to search. thanks for the hard work gaz. volunteer moderators get little praise, eh? enjoy the holidays!

  6. ...and hello to viewers from https://discussion.evernote.com/topic/79404-who-is-still-using-v4/#entry334391

The Windows version is actually what I use daily,  and while I'll freely admit to hating v5 on first sight,  it has now grown on me.  I don't especially care how my data is packaged,  I just want to be sure that I can store and retrieve information as I need to.  And the new version has some advantages in terms of sync speeds,  security and bug fixes.  Not to mention features like Chat and Context.  (And OK with 5.8 you can now hide some or all of that if you don't want it.)  Sticking with older versions isn't feasible in the long term - they're inherently less stable and secure,  and incompatibility with sync and updates is going to come along at some stage.

Any noticeable difference in speed/performance between v4 and v5?  For Windows, that is.   :)    With regard to functionality, what will v5 give me that v4 won't?

Lol, wow. It's not the same question.

Yeah, but kind of the inverse of it which could generate the same responses???   ;)

Sure, I guess, but who really cares?  It's an internet forum, lol.   It's NOT an exact cross-post.  I see some things have remained the same here, SMH.

  8. jhd,

You might want to check out our TuskTools Treeliner offering - it's currently in a closed beta but downloads are being actively distributed now, so if you fill out the request form, you should get a download email within a few days.  It allows you to outline any or all of your notes in a hierarchical manner in a tree; it also lets you classify notes into "Item Types" to help make the structure even richer - so you can easily visualize and filter folders, projects, etc. within a notebook.

My request has been submitted, looks great.

    * I fully recognize that tags are in one sense more general than a folder hierarchy in that they allow a single item to be associated with multiple organizational nodes.  But that strength is also their weakness -- they don't allow you to rediscover the hierarchy as you navigate it.

The problem with hierarchies is you often have to "rediscover" it, if/when you don't remember how you organized it.  IE, did you file your cell phone bill under "phone", "telephone", "cell phone" or "Verizon"?  So you have to go to the bills folder & look for it one of those options.  OTOH, with tags (and Evernote's amazing search engine), you have the luxury of not having to "rediscover" how you filed it.

    http://discussion.evernote.com/topic/48008-search-by-tag-or-just-search/?p=244648

IMO, you're overtagging. IMO, some folks "overtag". Often, tags are not needed if you use descriptive titles, some tags, some notebooks/stacks & keywords. I have over 62,000 notes & have never reached the 250 notebook limit. I'd guess less than half my notes have any tags at all. Probably only about 1/3 of my notes have tags. Those that do have tags normally have only 1-3 tags. IE, all my bills are in Evernote. Although they are in a "bills" notebook, I can quickly & easily find my Cox cable bill from June 2009 by searching ALL notes because the title of that note includes the vendor (Cox) and the date of the bill in YYYYMMDD format. So a simple search of

    intitle:cox intitle:200906*

will quickly find the ONE note which is the bill I'm looking for from over 62,000+ notes. And I didn't even use a tag.

You can also net the tags for organizational purposes only. This allows you to collapse the top tier so the nested tags do not show up. Or even the "hide unassigned" tags may be helpful.

Except that you have to remember what to search for versus a visual reminder, which would be the case with a Hierarchy.

  10. My older Adonit stylus is magnetic. Just stick it on any edge of the iPad or directly on the Smart Cover. Not sure why they didn't do the same for the newer stylus.

About the lack of a clip on the Script. A perfect solution would be this. Adonit or Evernote could make replacement ***** on top caps that contain the clip. Also make one with a lanyard connector. And one with a regular stylus rubber or mesh nub for us artist types. Or even a set of brushes that the software could be amended for use. Offer them as multiple packs. Would be great. The new cap needs a very small rubber o ring so it locks in place. Good idea. I should get a cut from sales. Seriously.

The TenOne Pogo Connect clip works well enough<

  11. Just received the Script yesterday. Was excited to try this new device. Using it on iPad air, with penultimate and Goodnotes. No screen cover.

Unfortunately, of all the different styluses I have used (all considerable cheaper), the script performs quite poorly. I am having significant issues with it suddenly not working, in mid word, requiring several reattempts before writing resumes, I have tried toggling off multigestures, no luck. This can occur even when not resting palm on device. Also, the tapping noise is a no go for me, way to loud for use during meetings. Finally, I often need to jump between apps (like mail, messages, etc...) while taking notes, and the tip recognition is horrible outside of the two note taking apps.

I really jumped the gun on this device, which I will not be using. Doesn't seem to be quite ready for prime time, certainly not worth the $80 I spent for it!

I was able to return my Script to Adonit for a full refund.

  12. I bought the Adonit pen and tried with penultimate and other inking apps. Although the look and feel if the Adonit is the best I've tried to date, it was just too laggy for me. Penultimate is unusable for me. I had been using Notes + and Notability. Back to the trusty Livescribe Wifi.

  13. Let's keep the ad hominem attacks out of the forums. This thread was split off from another one and begins with the complaint that "EN5 is just plain god awful, unusable." Expanding on this thought would be the most constructive way to continue this thread, in my opinion. If it continues with the personal attacks then it will get closed.

OK. What's wrong with EN5? Is it just the search problem with intitle:, or is there something more?

    Thank you.
