  1. Well, looks like the high CPU usage and memmory problems have been fixed for me. Been using it enough to know that whatever you did its differnt than from the last version. Pretty much everything seems to be working now. At first it would not clip some pages at some random times, but as if over time got trained to know what I want and somehow the problems went away. I can't replicate it but either way right now I am happy wiht it, works as it should.

  2. Works fine for me when clipping most of the time, but horribly slows down Firefox after short use. UI becomes dead slow and lagging. This has been the issue for over a year, and of all the Firefox extension this is the only one that does this, come on guys. Can't you write a normal extension like everyone else. It's been over a year. BTW. This has been confirmed by me in previous pots and other people on this forum. Your extension is unusable since it effects Firefox resources so badly. Please fix this ASAP. Thank you.

it consume too much cpu when I open dozens of tabs.

    please fix it.

Dozens of tabs i any browser is probably going to be a problem, just because of the browser.

That being said, does the CPU load decrease when clipping is done?

I disagree. I have reagurally open up to a 100 tabs in a browser (Firefox) and there is no issues. Even Clearly and older verion of web clipper work fine, only the new one clearly has memorry issues.

The CPU is not really the problem its the memorry and generaly slugishess after install. And it is slow no matter if you are clipping or not.

  4. For me the lack of trust and respect to its user base is what I dislike about Evernote as a company the most. i mean Evernote the notetaking service that prides its self on the vision for a 100 year company is that it can't share its planes about features and updates with its users more than a week advance. For a company that started as two things, note taking service and a place where you are safe to store all the most personal information, they certainly like to keep things top secret and unpredictable where the future of the company is.

Forums users such as ourselves have been asking for more transparency, consistency and stability for years now. And while certain people responsible for fixing thing are hiding behind the wall of silence, we can only keep complaining. But I remember  Evernote CEO Phil Libin penned a response to my post re: the product’s bagginess, and its plans to improve in 2014: http://blog.evernote.com/blog/2014/01/04/on-software-quality/ (do you guys remember that?) when he ignored everyone for years and than made a press release bascially when someone with influence actually did the same thing, ignoring us little guys who made evernote possible.

And than before the year was over 2014 Evernote Conference - Phil Libin's Thursday keynote address http://tinyurl.com/ooluws7

talks about new direction with no regard about his promise and still ignoring its users base, ignoring many stability issues and still favoring one platform over another while charging the same price for all platforms. Except this time we are treated with Work Chat, actually more like showed down our collective troughs and again new direction for the company.

When you see "Comments are disabled for this video." on youtube videos from a company its a red flag, one of many by Evernote.

I don't mind the new features, I don't mind paying for services, I don't mind even being late in waiting for the same features on another platform I can forgive all that but what I can't forgive is a company that cares more about its investors than its customers. For crying out loud it took them 18 days to gives me a generic answer for a customer support ticket, the problem was a bug in their Win version of Evernote that would not sync. 18 days for a copy/paste response. I am a premium user BTW. Its frustrating to say the least but this is not a way to run I company that should stay on top for a 100 years Mr. Phil. Competition will exploit the weakness much sooner.

So yes, Time for an Evernote Personal Edition I agree.

  5. I stand corrected on Business pricing.

    As to why I care,

I need a notetaking solution that I can launch immediately when I get a call, and start taking notes.  Not something that freezes or fails to launch until the call is over.  I need a solution that allows me to take notes in a meeting and doesn't suddenly freeze or pop up some ridiculous popups in the middle of my typing so I miss half of what is said.  And I need a solution that I can search on the fly - fast - so I can produce an answer to a question while talking to people, rather than 20 minutes later.

Evernote used to be that system.  Now it is some kind of chat app.

I agree. The essence that made Evernote so great is being lost. It should be the best not taking application, not mediocre everything app.

  6. Same problem here, Evernote won't sync on Windows desktop. Version Tried the usual rebuilding the database and all that nothing. I'm a premium user and for a week now no reply from Evernote support, it was a similar problem I had with reaching Max number of notebooks and it would not sync. Come on Evernote. This is unacceptable.

  7. You can only sync from the client, so if you deleted the notebook(s) on the web, I would go back to the client and try to sync again.  You could transfer some of the notes to local notebooks as well to see if that helps.  That and recycle your machine and see if that helps clear up anything.

That worked. I delted notebook from web and sync from desktop and it worked. so it's got to be a bug than. When it reaches max number of notebooks it fails to sync. Thank you for your support. :)

  8. Its strange. I transferred the notes from the notebooks to another notebook and deleted the old one. This was all done on Desktop version of evernote. I tried to sync and the same error happened. Than I went to web version and search for the same notebook that I deleted but failed to sync appernatly. Than on web version of Evernote the same notebook is still there but it's empty. So it seems that the content of the notebook god synchronized somehow but the notebook itself, which was deleted on desktop version in the web version remains except the content of it has been changed. Weird.

I tried now to delte the notebook from the web but I'm not sure how to sync form the web. Can that be done manually.

  9. It would seem likely the issue is related to the hard stop of 250 max notebooks.  That's not going away.

Can you consolidate the notes from some of those notebooks into one, using tags to maintain reference to the notes' original notebooks, and then try and sync.  Make sure the web reflects the notebook reorganization.

I tried deleting one of the notebooks I did not use, so technically I should be on 249 as before the problem. But sync issue is the same with the same message. "Sync failed due to unexpected behavior at client side" It must be a bug of some kind.

  10. I started experiencing problem when trying to synchronize. This is the message I get. "Sync failed due to unexpected behavior at client side" I think it started happening when I got message that I have reached maximum number of notebooks, 250 I think. After that I can't sync anymore. I have tried a full and clean reinstallation, deleted all the database and synced everything, it worked fine but then when I tried to create a new notebook I got a message that I have reached the max number of notebooks, so I deleted one of the old ones and created a new one. I think since than I am having issues because I can’t sync anymore. It’s really problematic.

I can’t use Evernote anymore. I am a premium user and I use the latest Evernote for Windows v. (274061) Public. Please help, I think it might be either a bug or maybe there is some kind of workaround solution. I have submitted a support ticket (Ticket# 894669 - Sync failed due to unexpected behavior at client side) but posting here as well, who knows when they might reply.

  11. Beyond personal preference, Firefox offers special addons that I can't find alternatives for in Chrome There are other reasons as well. Besides. Firefox is the only browser that has full color management support, if Chrome ever gets it let me know. In the meantime I will use Firefox. I have wide gamut monitor and it's unusable without color managed applications.

  12. Still a lot of memory usage. I'm on Firefox 34, and when I'm using it with no web clipper, with 50 tabs open its 600 MB of memory or so. As soon as I install web caliper it goes to 1600 MB and stays there, plus everything is slow, the UI I mean. I uninstall web cliper and it's back to normal.Clearly there is some kind of issue.

  13. Hi all,

We have verified the memory usage problems and are working on a fix for them.

If you have this problem it would be great if you can post more details about your typical workflow and that will help us narrow down the components that are offending.

    - What type of clip are you making? (article, simplified article, screenshot, etc)

    - What notebook selection preference do you have? (smart filing, last used notebook, specific notebook)

For me, regarding memory issues, it doesn't matter how I use it.  I think the moment it is installed, Firefox UI responsiveness goes down. Once its uninstalled it works fine again.

  14. Version 6 from the addons.mozilla.org managed to slow down my Firefox 33.1.1 on Windows 8.1 significantly. Loading pages, closing tabs and everything else lagged considerably and the Firefox process grew above 1 GiB, while with the Web Clipper 5.9.1 it sits around 600 MiB and there is no noticeable lag even after several days of usage.

I can confirm this as well. The addon makes the whole Firefox interface very slow and loading pages is slow as well. Only in Web Cliper 6 beta, not the earlier versions. I have to use Cliper instead now. Web cliper as is can't be used, make everything in Firefox so slow. please fix that.

  15. This is false logic. Of course it's not about philanthropy! It's about listening to paying customers.

You can't grow by alienating your core user base. You grow by being recommended by your user base — that's where the business is! Ditching a tried and tested interface for the sake of fashion is simply not good business.

I remeber Mr. Phill said in his conference, "we did not got rid of the old design, because quite frankly we were afraid to." And they should be.

Loyal paying user base of evangelists that made this company is feeling that Mr.Phil is not listening to us, but purses his own strange vision. Steve Jobs he is not, whatever he may think of himself. And instead of hiding behind the wall of silence, it would be good business to listen to people who were the key component in the company's rapid growth by  evangelizing Evernote. I for one, would not be against "work chat",  except I feel it has been forced down our throats while there are thusands of people on this forum requesting, complaining if not begging for features that actually make Evernote improved. It is clear for what I understand that Mr.Phil's strategy is to continue to favor one platform over another, preach "elegant minimalistic" UI design, ignore the user requests, not only by not replaying and favoritism but also by not even showing they care. The company policy on how to treat it's customers, payed of not is quite frankly appalling. From "comments disabled" on it's youtube channel to ignoring Forum users as much as it is possible, not reveling any time frame of it's development while at the same time trying to sell us wallets and thermo bottles directly from the app. Or when they make ads and blog posts of the new features, (Mac only) that gets conveniently not mention every time. It's funny how work chat got updated on all platforms but the features we asked for over and over and over again have not. And when there is an updated it's in most cases first Mac. But the paying premium users such as myself have not been offered a chance to pay for the service we are getting, instead we are being charged the same but with less features. And there is no explanation why or any accountability from the company. Just wall of silence. That is what I call appalling.

Regarding the Web UI. I will try once again, but it will fall on deaf ears I'm sure. There isn't much that have not been said in this thread already. Lack of features that were always there, not an easy intuitive way to go back to old UI, too much white space, that looks like way too much white space on a large monitors, since the UI doesn't scale. It's almost 2015. that should be unacceptable. Overall, the vision of minimalistc design is not bad per se, but it should never be an only option, but an option that is seemless integrated in the standard fully functional UI.

  16. Hi all,

We pushed an update to the Beta version that we now consider release candidate. Please re-install it and give it a go and try to break it.

As always we appreciate detailed reports of issues with info like:

    - FF version, OS version

    - Page where the issue was observed

    - Detailed steps on how to reproduce it

Unless I'm missing something, how can it be considered release candidate when it's little more than clearly. still missing, pretty much all the functionality of Chrome. As you wrote yourself.

Not expected to work in this version:

    - Post clip dialog

    - Native clipping component

    - Sharing

    - Selection clipping not implemented

    - Smart filing

    - Keyboard shortcuts

    - Related notes on Google & other search engines

When can we expect the same functionality as the one in Chrome?
