  1. I wish Evernote would follow a very simple common sense rule. No new features until old ones are working as people expect. And bugs and performance issues are no longer an issue. Also when new version of Evernote is released, there need to be trust in the stability, not playing Russian roulette with updates. Will I lose my data? Will it crush two or three times per hour etc. I'm been using Evernote for years and for years it has gotten from bad to worse, with not much ability to learn from previous mistakes being shown by Evernote. Right now still version 10 is not ready for general release its basically early beta version of the program. What are you doing releasing new features when the old ones that you removed are still not there and there are stability and performance issues. What is the logic behind that?
  2. Same here as a user. But I stopped paying them. its hopeless, they deliver bad buggy products for years, and can't seem to make an update without breaking the app. The users are just paying for privilege of being beta testers of the program that is not even safe for the data, a primary function of the program. No official feedback from CEO that has been promising new evernote that will make it smooth and fast, non of that. Just more silence or lies from incompetent and irresponsible developer team at Evernote. its been like this for years and years now.
  3. Very disappointed with Evernote. After some 18 months of development, working from scratch they still managed to release in public, a broken, buggy, laggy, piece of software with features missing in a new version of program that is now what 10 years in development. Before this release all the previous releases for years were buggy mess, broken and dangers to your data. No matter the feedback, no matter the complaint, no matter the subscribers Ever note team is just unwilling and unable to release a fully functioning product. They are incompetent and irresponsible. Just read these forums, for years one horror story after another. How is that even possible? This company still demands monthly payment for pre-alpha builds release to the public, where we the users act as testers. Its unacceptable. I agree Official Statement from Evernote needed and they need to fire most of their team and get someone who can write a code and not break the application with every release. Its not one time, or sometimes, its every damn time. How is that even possible?
  4. So true. After 18 months of waiting they could not get past pre alpha but want monthly paychecks. Unacceptable.
  5. Mr. Tener you have send an email to me and I assume other Evernote users on windows to upgrade to new version of evernote out of security reasons. "Evernote for Windows Update Required".

Are you aware that after version 6.5.4, ever version is unstable for work because it has bugs all over the place. Features not working or missing etc. Its been a source of frustration for everyone in the past six months and every release is less stable than the previous one, no matter if its beta or not, its all alpha. That is the reason I'm staying with 6.5.4 because I can actually get work done. Am I to understand that you are forcing users to upgraded to buggy unstable release now. Which is not safe for work. I repeat not safe for work. Last update I lost data.

    The original announcement is here.

I totally agree with you. this is unacceptable. I did boycott the new version by staying with old 6.5.4. Now these geniuses are forcing everyone to upgrade to unstable, insecure buggy version. Each new version more unstable and buggy than the last. I'm not even sure how that is possible, but evernote its the new normal. And no one can be reach in Evernote. They all went silent. I'm a paying user, one of many and we are being treated like this. Come on, what is wrong with you evernote. Talking about booking a trip on titanic. This company has to tank, its heading head first to ice berg. Just beyond frustrated and disappointed.

  6. So true. Even back than, I was the first one to post and I posted my skepticism about it. The developer assured me this time it will be differentiate, and it seem that he was honest about his intentions, but I was told later that he was probably fired, when the new management come on board. And that was all she wrote... as they say. Sad state of affairs in Evernote. Also they keep on sending us emails trying to sell us the wonderful evernote tips and tricks and new features. A marketing team totally out of touch with the development team, which only is good at delivering more bugs and features no one asked for. While the CEO is doing god knows what. It would be embarrassing if it was not corporate America, which knows no embarrassment.
  7. No, I didn't mean Phil. But some guy who showed up in forums. some evernote developer, this was while Phil was still CEO. Anyway this guy was more open than anyone before on forums about what they will do and asking us what we the users wanted, but I was skeptical so I commented on it. He assured me they will do their best, they changed. After we started to go back and forth the trust was building, than all of a sudden, he is gone. Quite a bit later someone in the thread I think mentioned the guy does not work in Evernote anymore. And he also promised some new big changes, I guess that went right out the window along with him, sort of speak.
  8. That one link encapsulates Evernote. lol Like that other thread where one developer said we are working on new things, tell us what you want, we tell them, and communication stops. Later we find out the guy was fired and no one ever bothered to continue.
  9. I don't even dare updating, Tried the beta version, I mean pre-alpha and screwed up my formatting. Reading this thread it seems not much have been fixed. How can you release this as public version? Knowing evernote this is beta or pre beta, and using public users as beta testers. Not happy.
  10. Fully support this except I would like to see colors less saturated or option between the two. Maybe something like this....
  11. Me too. Although I think that anyone who is interested and observant can see the request and make educated guess what the users want the most. So far it seems the company had either unauthorized forum moderators or disinterested decision makers. Probably both. After all one would explain the other.
  12. I'll give credit to some of the bug fixes. I agree they have been fixing some of the nasty bugs especially int he last beta release and quickly made an update to that. Kudos. However I can't agree with they don't have the time. Take Wunderlist to-do-app team. If I'm not mistaken they are just as small if not smaller team than Evernote. But they have one person who is in the comments section and his entire job is to communicate between the developers and users. He is authorized to answer all the users about what the team is doing. He takes as much time as needed and answers virtually every comment, no matter how rude or polite the comment might be. I respect that. And its a two way communication because he takes the user requests to the team in meetings. They have a whole functional system in place for this. And its only one person. Heck, with the number of dedicated user in Evernote and people like you who is counting " 16,242 posts" with no pay I imagine. All they have to do is ask someone like you to act as ambassador between the developers and users. Let them authorize you and problem solved. They have no time is not an excuse I can agree on. I'm sorry. You always have time for things you put first. And Evernote has a long sad history of not putting its users where it should. To quote Henry Ford here: “It is not the employer who pays the wages. Employers only handle the money. It is the customer who pays the wages.” Judging by the financial troubles in Evernote, maybe its time that some decision maker at the top takes that quote to hearth. With all do respect off course.
  13. That is certainly nice to hear. Can we expect Heading 1,2,3 and paragraph options and ability to apply them easily by right mouse click and some keyboard shortcuts. I haven't used web version of Evernote for some time now, but if I remember correctly there was a right click menu pop up options for text editing. I wouldn't mind that on Desktop. Preferably not English keyboard layout only for obvious reasons if you will add keyboard shortcuts. Superscript, subscript Ability to change the color of the highlighter tool and uppercase only, lower case only etc. The standard tools found in most text editors. Ability to add styles or quote the text would be also nice, but I can live without that if its too much trouble. Although they are available here in the web editor on this forum, and that is just not right. Just make it more convenient to write and format text please with more than the very basic set of features. I don't expect full blown text editor like MS Word, but at least make changes to some of the things I mentioned. Certainly ability to assign paragraphs and heading, sub heading etc with a right click and different colors for highlighter tool which would greatly increase the note taking capabilities of Evernote. Thank you. P.S. Insert horizontal line is a great feature in Evernote that I use often but the keyboard shortcut is only for English layout keyboards. Its useless on a different layout. (Ctrl + Shift + - ) is not working on my Croatian layout keyboard and I'm sure its not the only layout where its not working. Can that be changes to some other keyboard shortcut or as it would be the best allow users to assign their own keyboard shortcuts. Please do something about that. Thank you.
  14. So I guess my first response was my gut instinct being right. Evernote's ability to address the features users actually want is appalling. In some instances they showed good will as by the mentioned user but apparently that is not the same as the overall company policy. It would seem he either acted under different management or on his own. So we cannot really put much hope anymore, that the Evernote team will actually finish their, what is it now "4 year" project with a dedicated team working on it. Ha!
  15. I have the same problem when doing a search inside the note. I want to click with the mouse on a place where the search query was found and it automatically Evernote scrolls it back to the top of the not instead. It clearly a bug. Please fix it. Thanks.
  16. Agree 100% For some strange reason Evernote team has avoided to implementing a good text editor for a long time now. Even the editor in Forums can do more in some areas. But they are working on "Editor" changes in the Evernote from what I understand. I hope we see it soon.
  17. I pretty much agree with everything said and support the same requests. Its 2015, this should be a standard at this point.
  18. This is definitely on our radar - I don't believe that this is a limit of the technology, but rather, something we need to do differently. Actually with the 5.9.1 release and few betas before it I had the same issues with lag on larger notes. Even if its mostly just text. Is this when you started implementing new JavaScript. I don't remember having that problem with the same notes in previous releases. I don't think I want to trade better editor for a slow performance, that is a compromise that should not be done. I like what you said. "I don't believe that this is a limit of the technology, but rather, something we need to do differently." Because I feel the same way. Hope you guys find a solution by the time you get out of beta.
  19. This is one of the first believe it or not actual precise feedback I have seen from Evernote team. Congratulations. I'm impressed.
  20. I appreciate the attempt to implement new features, God knows Evernote is in desperate need of note editor because even note editor in forums here is better. That being said, a legitimate concern and question I have to ask, based on the quote from you posted above. I'm sure you can understand. Perhaps you personally are not responsible for any of it but you do wear Evernote banner so in a way you are part of the organization. You said "We can promise to listen to your feedback and work tirelessly to make every version of Evernote’s editor better than the last. If you have feedback on the editor, we’re here to listen." Evernote has a long and embarrassing, well documented history of doing precisely the opposite of what you now claim. No feedback (just browse this forums here and its really easy to see) and ignoring user requests. e.g. Evernote beta and other examples. So why should we trust you or even be excited about your promise when actions speak to the contrary? I ask this not to troll but to see if you are man of your word. And is this something worth investing time into. From testing beta to following its progress to actually sticking with your product vs alternatives such as Onenote for example. Can you please answer my question and prove that we the loyal users are not being brutally ignored once again. Thank you. i don't think we can hold one individual to blame for the sins of others (perceived or imagined), especially when it was a multiple team project undertaken over multiple years with a shifting staff of developers working under different leadership. in short, i don't think he (or anyone else) can satisfactorily respond to your question about whether they are a man (or woman) of their word. even if such a thing could somehow be demonstrated here, there is a lot more going on here -- "listening," for example. listening does not mean responding to user requests. it doesn't mean implementing them. it doesn't mean ignoring them. it means listening, which really isn't going to be very easy to observe by those doing the speaking. at any rate, as far as trust and so forth goes, it's a beta and you can give it a shot or not. Sure I can, because I have little choice. I am a paying customer and I can't get any information on the problems that I am having and since the big CEO or any of the decisions makers are not responding and have decided to make the Evernote policy to retain information and infuriate millions of its users for years. If they have decided to put someone on this forum as a spokesperson for its customers than he or she is the only one I can reach and therefore he or she is responsible. That is my right as a customer especially paying customer. When they decided to treat its users with more respect, the users will be more tolerant. As for this particular individual I have clearly stated "Perhaps you personally are not responsible for any of it but you do wear Evernote banner so in a way you are part of the organization." You said: "listening," for example. listening does not mean responding to user requests. it doesn't mean implementing them. it doesn't mean ignoring them. it means listening, which really isn't going to be very easy to observe by those doing the speaking. at any rate, as far as trust and so forth goes, it's a beta and you can give it a shot or not." I'm sorry, but for any company and especially a leading company in its field witch prides itself with over a hundred millions users and payed subscription model, that simply is not good enough. The only reason why it is happening is because it can, (so far) but certainly not because it should.
