  1. Of course, but it only takes a small programming bug to call the API to delete the file, rather than just deleting the link. I've seen if happen before. To me it's disappointing that EN make such a fuss over a feature that (currently) doesn't really do much (and has the potential to be a game changer). I think I'll bide my time until the Google Drive integration offers more than just a prettier link.
  2. But how does that differ to just copying and pasting the URL directly from my browser ? I was expecting some enhanced functionality such as the linked google doc being searchable, a summary of its contents, an embedded directly editable version or some such enhancement. To be honest if that's all it does, then the risk of giving EN full access (including delete) to my Google drive doesn't seem worth the benefit. Am I misunderstanding something ?
  3. What does the "link to Google drive" offer over not linking to Google drive ? Is it simply the insert dialog or are embedded Google drive linked docs searchable like an embedded pdf ? Can't quite see the advantage of linking Evernote and Google if all it means is I can select a file from google drive rather than simply just pasting the existing URL. Cheers David
  4. Have raised with support as the upgrade system tells me I can upgrade from Premium to Premium !!
  5. No, there are four of us in the Team, most of the notes are personal, but we do have about 200 which we share.
  6. That's what I thought, but a couple of things I just tried (such as adding a calendar widget to the home page) brings up this dialog and visiting web page indicates I need to pay GBP 5.99 a month to upgrade by premium account to a Personal account. BTW I am the administrator, so I suppose I'll need to contact support directly.
  7. I used to have EN business, now I seem to be Teams for my work EN & Premium for my personal EN. But Premium seems to be anything but and I keep being told to upgrade to Personal. Is this right ? I thought a teams subscription gave me access to everything on my personal EN ? In my vocabulary personal is less featured than premium - is EN different ? David
  8. Is there anyway to change Font Sizes in EN 10 ? I'm getting a lot less info on the screen, mainly due to the Note Title being drawn in a huge font compared to EN 6, but also the list of notes - in EN 6 displays 9, but in EN 10 only 7. In EN 6, my screen layout is thus In EN 10 it's thus
  9. Why does EN need delete permission from Google ? It's not the default option for an app, it's an additional permission that the EN developers are requesting. I can't think of any circumstances where I'd want EN to delete data from Google. Are there some valid reasons or is it just IMHO poor permission management ? David
  10. Absolutely, but all of the ones that I use such for storing critical data such as Google Docs, YouTube, Vimeo, Google Photos, Flickr allow me to "backup" my data to my local machine in a way that I can access that data completely and accurately without any internet connection. Whether that's because, they've gone bust, a digger has cut through the fibre in my street or simply that I haven't paid my phone bill, I should still be able to read my data. Unless I'm mistaken EN doesn't allow this. I don't seem to be able to read exb or enex files without an active connection to Evernote (please correct me if I'm wrong) and the HTML backups seem to bare little resemblance to the original note. After 13 (paid) years with EN I'm too far in to start changing, but until recently I always assumed that my EN data was as secure as the rest of my data - being backed up along with my other critical data. V10 (originally) keeping the data only online stopped me from upgrading, but now it seems that even legacy won't let me read my data without an internet connection.
  11. You're missing the point. Unless you're sat in the boardroom you can't know everything that is going on. There are many ways that Evernote could fail to be online for a period of time. We simply want to make sure that if that did happen, that we could still access our data. At the moment it seems that's not possible.
  12. I don't expect perfection or even a 100% uptime, but I do expect a way to use a local copy of my data in the event that the servers aren't contactable. From what I understand, that's not automatic ?
  13. Seem like only earlier today some users were unable to access Evernote due, it seems, to an expired certificate. That doesn't give me confidence if something so simple can be overlooked !!
  14. Even if it wasn't due to financial issues, the "impossible" sometimes happens https://www.techspot.com/news/92822-japanese-university-loses-77tb-research-data-following-buggy.html
  15. There are many firms that everyone thought were secure, that went bust. Unless you're on the board of Evernote I doubt you have more internal financial info available to you than I do ? Can you expand on this please. I though there wasn't a way to export all my notes either via a single mouse click (poor 'cos I have to remember) or via an automated process. If I've misunderstood I'd be grateful if you could point me to a solution. Doesn't need to be free, just robust & reliable.
  16. I don't mind my data being on the cloud as long as there is a full copy which is usable on my machine. If Evernote went bust, I want to be 100% certain that all my data is accessible.
  17. I've been holding off upgrading from the legacy version as last time I looked, the current release was not really of a high enough standard. Since then I've kept away from the forums, but now I wonder if it's time to upgrade ? The things that were missing from V10 that stopped me previously were 1. No import folder (I believe that this has now been fixed)? 2. No easy way to quickly switch between my personal evernotes and my business ones. I don't mind two logins, but I need to be able to switch between the active one quickly as I do this many times a day. 3. No way to keep the full database locally either as the live database or as an automatic backup. I don't trust EN sufficiently to not have a local copy of all my data. Is it time for me to upgrade or am I still unwise to do so ? David
  18. If I also want to use the Android app, then I need to split my business & personal accounts in two ( something I don't have a problem with) but there's no way to easily switch between which account I'm using (something I do 100's of times a day). I believe I have to log out and then log back in again using the other credentials. This is a show stopper for me from a productivity POV.
  19. But the desktop version is much worse and is missing critical features that lower productivity. As a paying customer I don't expect apps to go backwards.
  20. Are you a Bot or EN employee ? I'd have thought getting the existing features into the rewrite was more important than adding new features. EN is getting less and less productive so unless V10 improves significantly I'll be moving my business to something else.
  21. Thanks. It is my business, but the business side is shared with all my employees. Having a quick look through the business notes, it looks like 90% of them are output only e.g company procedures, so could easily be moved to dropbox or something like google docs, which would be a good saving too. I don't think any of my employees get on with Evernote in a personal capacity, so all this will do is cut Evernote's income.
  22. I've just tried to access EN on my Android device and it tells me I have to split my account in to business & personal. How does this work if I want to keep the legacy version on my Windows computer which I believe I need to to get the features I need listed below ? Will I only be able to log in to either Personal or Business at once (in the legacy app), I literally switch between personal & business notes 100's of times a day ? How do things like the Auto import folder work - do I now have two - one for business notes & one for personal notes ? The really important features that I must have (and which I believe some are stopping me moving to V10 on my Windows desktop) 1. Quick way to switch between viewing Personal & Business notes 2. Import folder for scanned documents. 3. Documents incoming via Email. 4. Stacks of Notebooks 5. Notes by photo on Android device i.e OCR scanning of photos. 6. Persistent access to ALL notes on my Windows machine when there is no internet connection. 7. A "forget it's happening" method to backup all notes elsewhere at least once a day. i.e no user interaction is required. I can do all the above with the legacy app - has the new version caught up yet or is it still a "beta" and if I move my Android app to V10, will I lose any of the above features in the legacy version on my Windows machine ? Cheers David - happy EN user for more years than I can recall (that is until V10 came along)
