About frans

  1. I'm using OSX 10.9 on a macbook pro with a touchpad set to react on gestures. And I just checkd with a mouse. If I use a mouse it works fine and I see the menu. If I use the touchpad it does the conversion. Regardless of where you touch the touchpad, left or right. Sometimes it opens a kind of editor with only icons. No name no text, again clueless as to what it should do before you do something. When you close using X you have the dreaded PNG with three times the size of the tiff. Tiff is gone. I guess what I see is an annotation editor. (Which proves quite destructive. No undo, no explanation, no text, not very ergonomic, who thought of that? :-() Maybe you should not annotate what you can't display? E.g. Tiff-files? If you double click the Tiff-file you get the same result. It changes to png and the original is gone. Just did another test. I purposely used the mouse and said I would like to annotate a tiff file. The annotation editor is opened. I fiddle about and now when I close the editor it says, mind you I does not give me a choice, "the tiff file is deleted. Maybe it's open in another program blah blah." (This is translated back to english) Which ..... did think of this? Anontate means unwanted conversion and destruction of data I put in. What I want above all that evernote does not change the data I put in, never, ever. If it does it means the software is unreliable because you can not tell in advance when it does change data and when it does not. When you do find out it's too late. Copy and expand yes, but no DELETE. This for me would be a reason not to renew my account. So please tell I'm just akward?
  2. I have several notes with tiff-files stored in evernote. Evernote can not display tiff's. That's ok, it's just a store. You see a box with three icons. What is not okay is that when you hover with your mouse over the left most icon you see a pop-up displaying: press ctrl-click to view options. Since there is no clue as to what this does and I want to know I ctrl-click. What you expect to see is a menu. Instead when you do so the tiff disappears and I'm left with a png three times the size of the tiff. Aaaargggh. The original tiff is gone. No undo possible. Data gone. Very very very very bad. So what's going on. Could not find anything on google or on the forum. Or in the log file for that matter. No mention of conversion. You only see the unwanted png appear. But where is my tiff-original? Does anybody have a clue? I downloaded the original from the evernote cloud. Lucky i'm premium user. But I still don not like automated conversions which destroy original data. How do I get rid of this unwanted behavior? What is going on. I tried outside to replicate this outside evernote. Maybe an unwanted link as in "open with". But I could not find anything. So I think evernote is the problem. 2013-11-18 20:28:19 [ENConnectivityMonitor] INFO: reachability result: OK2013-11-18 20:28:47 main [ENNoteMO] INFO: move note "<no title>" (<no guid>) to notebook "Opslag" (054c2c58-e5a8-404e-a392-532b6b46fb05)2013-11-18 20:28:48 thmb [ENNoteThumbnailManager] DEBUG: Generating thumbnail for note: 'Proefwerkvel Havo Maris Stella Kleur 1' [(null)]2013-11-18 20:28:48 [ENNoteReIndexOperation] INFO: Reindexing note: 'Proefwerkvel Havo Maris Stella Kleur 1' [(null)]2013-11-18 20:28:48 [ENConnectivityMonitor] INFO: reachability result: OK2013-11-18 20:28:48 thmb [ENNoteThumbnailManager] DEBUG: Generating thumbnail for note: 'Proefwerkvel Havo Maris Stella Kleur 1' [(null)]2013-11-18 20:30:07 [ENConnectivityMonitor] INFO: reachability result: OK2013-11-18 20:31:07 main [ENExternalEditHelper] DEBUG: Starting Mark Up resource edit: /Users/frans/Library/Application Support/Evernote/accounts/Evernote/fransrops/external-edits/D5E9633C-E51F-48FF-BFE1-76324FB15CED/Proefwerkvel Havo Maris Stella Kleur 1.png2013-11-18 20:31:11 main [ENExternalEditHelper] INFO: Finished editing 'Proefwerkvel Havo Maris Stella Kleur 1.png'2013-11-18 20:31:11 [ENNoteReIndexOperation] INFO: Reindexing note: 'Proefwerkvel Havo Maris Stella Kleur 1' [(null)]2013-11-18 20:31:11 thmb [ENNoteThumbnailManager] DEBUG: Generating thumbnail for note: 'Proefwerkvel Havo Maris Stella Kleur 1' [(null)]2013-11-18 20:31:12 thmb [ENNoteThumbnailManager] DEBUG: Generating thumbnail for note: 'Proefwerkvel Havo Maris Stella Kleur 1' [(null)]2013-11-18 20:31:12 [ENNoteReIndexOperation] INFO: Reindexing note: 'Proefwerkvel Havo Maris Stella Kleur 1' [(null)]2013-11-18 20:31:12 main [ENZipHelper] INFO: Termination status: 02013-11-18 20:31:12 [ENNoteReIndexOperation] INFO: Reindexing note: 'Proefwerkvel Havo Maris Stella Kleur 1' [(null)]2013-11-18 20:31:12 [ENNoteReIndexOperation] INFO: Reindexing note: 'Proefwerkvel Havo Maris Stella Kleur 1' [(null)]2013-11-18 20:31:17 main [WebResource] INFO: Archive encoding name: 'UTF-8'2013-11-18 20:31:17 main [ENMLConverter] INFO: Parse success w/o HTML tidy.2013-11-18 20:31:17 main [ENMLConverter] DEBUG: Root tag is 'img' not 'html'2013-11-18 20:31:17 main [ENMLConverter] DEBUG: Adding 'body' tag2013-11-18 20:31:17 main [WebResource] INFO: Archive encoding name: 'UTF-8'2013-11-18 20:31:17 main [ENMLConverter] INFO: Parse success w/o HTML tidy.2013-11-18 20:31:17 main [ENMLConverter] DEBUG: Root tag is 'img' not 'html'2013-11-18 20:31:17 main [ENMLConverter] DEBUG: Adding 'body' tag2013-11-18 20:31:17 main [WebResource] INFO: Archive encoding name: 'UTF-8'2013-11-18 20:31:17 main [ENMLConverter] INFO: Parse success w/o HTML tidy.2013-11-18 20:31:17 main [ENMLConverter] DEBUG: Root tag is 'img' not 'html'2013-11-18 20:31:17 main [ENMLConverter] DEBUG: Adding 'body' tag2013-11-18 20:33:04 main [ENAppController] DEBUG: Note: 0xc0500000b <x-coredata://C8F836A7-0C9D-4359-BB5D-4CCCA63A4E1D/ENNote/p12308>2013-11-18 20:33:04 main [ENAppController] DEBUG: dir: /Users/frans/Library/Application Support/Evernote/accounts/Evernote/fransrops/content/p123082013-11-18 20:33:10 [ENConnectivityMonitor] INFO: reachability result: OK2013-11-18 20:33:20 main [ENExternalEditHelper] DEBUG: Starting Mark Up resource edit: /Users/frans/Library/Application Support/Evernote/accounts/Evernote/fransrops/external-edits/BA73922B-5614-45B7-8A50-31730DCA1DBF/Proefwerkvel Havo Maris Stella Kleur 1.png2013-11-18 20:33:37 main [ENExternalEditHelper] INFO: Finished editing 'Proefwerkvel Havo Maris Stella Kleur 1.png'2013-11-18 20:33:38 main [ENZipHelper] INFO: Termination status: 02013-11-18 20:34:40 [ENConnectivityMonitor] INFO: reachability result: OK
  3. How to edit a web-clip outside the page make-up? People I have a rather simple problem the solution of which keeps eluding me. The use case is: I clip a web-page or a selection of a webpage. Usually the latter. I want to keep the layout. Then when the clip is in Evernote I want to be able to add a text of my own at the bottom, or the top, depending on the purpose of the notes. I want to make this note outside the make-up of the clipped web-page in plain text. This is not possible for me. Whatever I do, wherever I put my cursor, I'm always inside the markup layout of the webclip. But if I add a small remark when clipping. You see the text, a horizontal line and then the clip. How can I do this my self? The only way seems to create a PDF. Then add the PDF to Evernote etc, etc. This is to much work, a kludge so to say. What I seem to be missing is an insertion point which lies outside the webclip lay-out. Can't you just put a horizontal line at the top and bottom of the webclip always? The start and end of that line would be a nice insertion point and give me the results I want. Any suggestions welcome.
