  1. On Windows: after right clicking on a notebook... instead of hitting "Share Notebook", you select "Modify Sharing"... and you get: Hit the "Publish" button. @chinarut, here's my contribution to humanity with a couple of my own shared notebooks: anylineyouwant.blogspot.com - That site links to shared notebooks containing TV series subtitle files... Another one - for the searching of OCRed text in Golden age (public domain) comic books: https://www.evernote.com/pub/frankman777/daredevilcomics
  2. Evernote does not embed YouTube videos via the web clipper... but if you use the Evernote web clipper while on YouTube itself, you can clip the cover image with a play button... which looks like an embedded video, but really just has an embedded link to the YouTube video.
  3. What device are you looking in your trash on? Mac, Windows, iOS, Android? Have you checked in your trash on the web client? The typical behavior would be that when you merge notes, the individual notes go to trash. Did you perhaps purge/ empty your trash notebook subsequent to merging?
  4. @Rocket J. Squirrel, You'll definitely find your market. It's all about your unique sell point. I think we discussed previously that what your app will have to offer is unlike the Evernote "Context" feature in that you decide on the notes that are "related"/ connected... not the "augmented intelligence". Emphasize that aspect and it will be clear to people that it is not a feature inherent to Evernote. You'll also have to lay out why these connections made in your app will be different to tagging notes. Best of luck!
  5. While Trello is an incredible collaboration and task-management tool à la Kanban, it would not be considered in the class of Evernote or OneNote. It's perfect for project management, but not so much as a general data repository, since your sublists are locked in cards which are in turn structured in stages/ columns. Trello does not have its own word processor, but documents and images can be attached to a card. It's not the most intuitive as a global data repository in the sense that it's not as fluid for filtering the way Evernote does... and the fact that it has multiple boards makes it a little disjointed from the Evernote perspective... but once again, perfect for task management and collaboration on projects.
  6. Just for posterity... For those who stumble across this thread via a forum/ Google search, here's a straightforward blog post on how to back up and restore your Evernote data: http://www.pcworld.com/article/2932989/syncings-not-enough-how-to-back-up-and-restore-your-evernote-data.html The premise is the following: "Syncing's not enough... syncs can go awry. Cloud services can go down. Here's how to ensure your notes are there when you need them."
  7. One can keep an Excel document in an Evernote note. Either that... Or get with an outliner... of which WorkFlowy is the best. ... Or make your movie titles the note titles. One note for each movie title.... Then sort by Title.
  8. Wunderlist joins Microsoft: https://www.wunderlist.com/blog/our-future-wunderlist-joins-microsoft/ Wunderlist + OneNote... Does anyone see this coming?
  9. @Jmichael, that's another way of saying that I agree with you about the workaround thing. Nope - Evernote cannot do such basics. Perhaps in the future. Yep - on iPhone it's a Siri command... but I know that people can also dictate reminders on Android via Google Now.
  10. I disagree with this statement I use my own tailor-made system in WorkFlowy in tandem with iOS reminders. You can't beat recurring reminders at specific times/ locations... plus one can dictate your reminders whether on iPhone or Android no matter where you are on your phone: "Remind me to take my meds at midday".
  11. 1. Have a note template and duplicate that each day at the time you've checked off your current list. Set reminders accordingly.... 2. Or recycle the same note, resetting the reminder for the next day: At the top of the note keep a list of checkbox items for individual meds. Below a separator, have one checkbox for each consecutive day.Check these off one day at a time as you've cycled through today's meds Select all the items in the list above the separator and uncheck them all at once, ready for the next day. 3. Or... set up a table with multiple columns and rows. The first column would be a list of meds. The second column would include checkboxes for day 1. The third column would include checkboxes for day 2... etc. Check off each day's checkboxes and reset the reminder accordingly.
  12. Evernote has an "auto scroll"-type feature with Penultimate, their iOS writing app... so it may not be that difficult to implement the same for reading... however, I never write at a fixed speed... and seldom do I read at a fixed speed. Might just be more simple to let that thumb of yours auto-sync with your brain. Practice makes perfect.
  13. Augmented Intelligence, it seems, would be easier to make a claim on. That is what Context (and Related Notes) is referred to as.
  14. Yes, iOS only.... I'd be very happy with a 3rd party option for now, but havent come across anything for Android... Any suggestions are welcome. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.visualcandy.wherevernote&hl=en I don't own an Android device so I couldn't test the above app on the Google Play store...
  15. Location-based reminders work perfectly through "IdeaPlaces", a 3rd-party Evernote app. As long as Evernote is endorsing them (in the Evernote app Center), unfortunately for some, I doubt they'll roll out a similar feature in-app. Sorry! However... they are only currently out on iOS.
  16. I don't think that the F7 spell check is supposed to work on the web client for anyone. What will happen is you'll have misspelled words underlined in red, though.
  17. You might want to try a re-install or an upgrade to the latest pre-release. Might just do the trick. If you'd prefer to wait for the next public release, I recommend installing the free PhraseExpress in the interim, which will auto correct for you too wherever you're typing.
  18. Interesting utility that the Firefox extension has. In Chrome there is no option to toggle. The default (and only) action is to clip to web... however, I'd like to clip directly to the "Native Client" option Firefox gives (but in Chrome). I often find myself revising my clippings on Desktop... and it would be nice to do so without having to sync first. Pretty much the way import folders work. Your files can be viewed on desktop as soon as you pop them into the import folder. For some use cases, I turn off sync on desktop temporarily. In such cases, I'd like to send web clippings directly to desktop, avoiding a server sync.
  19. Unless you had a secret sauce passed down through the generations...
  20. We're not quite there on Windows yet. Darn. That there could be the official workaround for all manner of evil. There's now a small growing list of Mac features I'd like to see on Windows
  21. Yes... manually ordering notes within the Reminders list works well for tasks... however, when it comes to presentation mode or ordering a set of notes before creating a TOC, I don't see any way of selecting multiple notes in the reminder list... also, if one reorders notes manually in the Reminders List, that does not affect the note order in the note list itself, nor does presentation mode take you through the notes in the adjusted order in the Reminder List itself. Am I missing something?
  22. Nice setup Charles, Some further tips/ tweaks by @Gazumped: https://discussion.evernote.com/topic/81455-ordering-slides-in-presentation-mode/ One could also create a horizontal note link list at the header and footer, like so: https://www.evernote.com/pub/frankman777/kanbancalendarintra-note#st=p&n=4783e23a-7010-4c8d-a447-414327246fd3
  23. I was responding to @Gazumped... and mentioned that it would, at the very least, be nice to sort on Windows desktop the way one can on Mac... Too many clicks to sort by 2 parameters. So there is no tweak available... I was asking for a tweak :-)
  24. What they could do, though, is tweak the setup on Windows desktop (as it is with Mac) for easier switching between multiple sorting parameters (i.e. reverse sort order + title). One has to go into the sorting menu twice to get that combination when switching from another sort order.
